SYTYCD – Top 12 Results – 7-9-9

July 10, 2009

Morning Everyone:

What a night, huh? It was a tough one but ended on a bright note.

Speaking of ‘bright’, didn’t Cat look good last night? She had a beautiful color blue dress on with a gold dazzling collar as part of the dress, hair was down and very pretty. It’s amazing how she walks in those high heels!

The Top 12 dance to Seven Nation Army by White Stripes (remember when Jack White went with Renee Zellweger years ago?) – Anyway, the 12 were dressed in military style uniforms. Very precise, stiff types of dance steps. It was good. This was choreographed by Nap/Tab…good job guys.

OK, let’s introduce the ‘Jidges’ – Nigel, Mary and Tyce. Cat talks to them about Wednesday night’s dances and says, “It’s a good thing you’re doing the judging because I couldn’t choose anyone to go home after last night.” They agreed.

First though, they congratulated Nigel on his 60th birthday. He looks darn good for that age…must be all the dancing!

Nigel thanks everyone for their nice applause. He then talks about the MJ Special the producers wanted to do. All the choreographers were on board and it looked good until they went to Sony and the Jackson Estate that both said “No”. (Joe Jackson probably wasn’t gonna get a ‘cut’ of the show!)
Too bad. It would have been amazing to see what routines the dancers and choreographers could come up with!

Mary then says that, starting next week, the couples will all be switched and all will find new partners. She also said that, starting next week, they will NO LONGER be doing the judging…much like American Idol. They will give their opinions but, in the end, it will be up to the fans on who will go home.

Alright, let’s bring on the first two couples:

Caitlin/Jason who danced a Jazz and Foxtrot routines….RESULT – Bottom 3

Brandon/Janette who danced a Jazz routine (done by Wade Robson!) and an Argentinian Tango that had all 3 Jidges giving them a Standing Ovation – RESULT – SAFE

Next we have:

Evan/Randi who danced a hip hop routine and Samba (that wasn’t very ‘hot’ for Evan) – RESULT – SAFE (love Evan but he has to get a little ’sexier’ to stay in this competition!)

Jeanine/Phillip who danced to a Jive and a Russian Folk Dance (both weren’t bad but we saw better) – RESULT – Bottom 3

Now Nigel says, We know the Bottom 3 the morning of the show so it gives us a good idea of who will go home tonight unless your solo blows us out of the water. Also, as you know, the Top 10 dancers will go on tour but we also take ’swing’ couples so whoever goes home tonight could be going on tour with us….

Next we have:

Melissa/Ade who danced a beautiful waltz and an awesome disco – RESULT – Bottom 3 ???? (this is how good all of these dancers are)

Kayla/Kupono danced a Mia routine (addiction that was awesome) and a Broadway routine which wasn’t that hot. – RESULT – SAFE

Cat then shows us a little bit (which she will do each Thursday) of the auditions that are happening now. She then tells us that they went to BOSTON and found Teddy Tellholm(?) who was absolutely fabulous, if not a little odd. Needless to say, they chose him to go to Vegas.

Now let’s have the 6 dancers do their solos.

Caitlin – beautiful
Jason – Excellent
Jeanine – fabulous
Phillip – WHOA!
Melissa – Flawless
Ade – takes your breath away. (who go a standing ‘o’ from the audience….)
Now the Judges have to figure out who to send home…Good Luck

Kelly Rowland (from Destiny’s Child) performs her new single. She has a good, strong voice and the song has a ‘good beat’ to it (remember American Bandstand?)

OK, the Judges are back and they have their results.

Nigel says they were unanimous of which girl to send home – CAITLIN (I’m kinda surprised but, then again, they’re all great).

Now we find out which boy will be going home tonight and it is – PHILLIP (once again, a bit of a surprise).

Now Nigel gives us great news by saying that Caitlin and Phillip will definitely be going on tour which makes everyone very happy.

Top 10 next week – new couples – it’s gonna be intense!!!

I’m sure they’ll start doing solos then too.

Have a great weekend everyone…keep the sun here please…..

SYTYCD – Top 12 Perform – 7-8-9

July 9, 2009

Hi Everybody:

Well for those of you who live in NE, it was quite a day for weather. We had everything thrown at us; thunderstorms, lightning, hail, tornado warnings! The sun actually stuck it’s head out today. Let’s hope it stays that way for awhile!

Cat looks cute as usual tonight. She has a black sheath dress that comes right to the knees, cap short sleeves, hair done up in a pretty bun. Lovely.

OK, people…we knew this was coming so brace yourselves. This is the LAST week for couples before they pull the ole’ switcheroo and it’s like musical chairs!! Who knows who will dance with whom starting next week. AND, since we’ve got the Top 12 competing, after Thursday night, it will be the Top 10 and this will be the group that goes on tour so it’s important NOT to go home!!!

The 6 couples will be performing 2 dances tonight.

Your ‘Jidges” are Nigel, Mary and Tyce D’Orio!

First up will be:

Melissa/Ade who will dance a Disco routine choreographed by Doriana Sanchez – Song: Movin On Up
by Destination – LOVE the glitter outfits, great lifts, WHOA, hot moves, complete unison. Great Start to the night.

Nigel: Incredible start; energy, exciting, tremendous – strong cpl.

Mary: Everybody needed a pick me up tonight and you two really gave it to us. You were both terrific.

Tyce: That was friggin’ great! Melissa – you’re a ballet dancer doing DISCO. Ade – rhythm, timing, great ability.

2. Kayla/Kupon will dance a Contemporary choreographed by Mia Michaels – this tells the story about a couple – one’s addicted and the other tries to get away. – WOW, this is deep, sad and brilliant…that’s it.

Nigel: This was a powerful piece. Anyone who has gone thru addiction could feel the pain in that piece. You were both brilliant.

Mary: Kupono – you were intense and stayed in character which must have been tough for you. Kayla – another great performance from you. You are on the TRAIN!

Tyce: Mia, you are unreal. You give these two a story to tell and when you are a dancer you also have to be an actor to express the feelings in the piece you are dancing and you two were UNREAL!

3. Caitlin/Jason will dance a Foxtrot choreographed by Tony Meredith and wife. Story is a macho man chasing after a girl. – Music: Minnie The Moocher – Beautiful costumes. This is another good couple. Number was beautiful.

Nigel: Caitlin – You looked very much like a Grace Kelly from High Society (movie from the 60s!). Jason – your footwork was good indeed.

Mary -I really thought it was tremendous. Caitlin – your kicks were great.

Tyce: I liked it but I thought both of you could have ‘glided’ across the floor more.

4. Jeanine/Phillip will dance a Russian dance – OK – A Kalinka. It’s a playful competition between a man and a woman. Boy, these are hard steps. I’m tired just watching it!!!

Nigel: Frankly, I think we could have done without that #. The 2 of you danced it very well but it was boring.

Mary: Positive – good moves. You had bright highlights.

Tyce – I kinda agree. I think you both did the number very well though.

5. Randi/Evan will dance a Hip Hop routine choreographed by Nap/Tab. It’s a couple in love who find out she’s having a baby. Music: Halo/Beyonce
I really don’t like hip hop but this number is fantastic. Love the moves from both Randi and Evan. I love this couple!

Nigel – Loved the hip hop that Nap/Tab played into your strengths. My the girl gets pregnant BEFORE she gets the ring! You are one of my favorite couples.

Mary – I was expecting a trainwreck because neither one of you are ‘hip hop’ people but you were both so good.

Tyce – Such a good story to tell by Nap/Tab. Evan – you need to find more of yourself in these numbers. Randi – you did a great job.

6. Brandon/Janette will dance an Argentine Tango choreographed by ? -Music? – Anyway, they were superb from the minute they took the dance floor. Great steps, always in unison, great lifts…ohhh Brandon.

Nigel/Mary/Tyce – ALL stood up to give them a Standing Ovation – WOW!

Nigel: That was as close to perfection as I’ve seen on this show in all the seasons we’ve been on.

Mary – The train is here!

Tyce – Powerful couple. Every detail was awesome..unreal!

Soooo, that’s dance #1

On to Dance #2

Melissa/Ade will dance a traditional waltz choreographed by Ron Mortez -Music: Natural Woman by MJ Blige – Oh boy, these two are so good together. Melissa’s legs are longer than Stacey Kiebler’s! So graceful. Ade is so strong and the lifts are flawless. Beautiful.

Nigel: Very beautifu.

Mary – Loved it. Ade, you were great but your legs needed more ease to them. Melissa – flawless.

Tyce – Melissa – you are beautiful. Ade – need to elongate your lines. Great job though.

2. Kayla/Kupono – will dance a Broadway routine choreographed by(?) – this is the gym dance from West Side Story. Now I remember the original WS Story and as good as they are, they are not as strong as the original and there doesn’t seem to be much passion there.

Nigel – This was so popular in the 60s when life was ‘dangerous’ but there didn’t seem to be any feeling there. No true emotion.

Mary – I saw a little emotion. Thought you did a great job. Well timed moves. Thanks Joey(?) for this #. WS Story is timeless.

Tyce – Good job but you needed to use the space more.

3. Caitlin/Jason will dance a Jazz routine choreographed by Mandy Moore -Music – Show Me Heaven – Caitlin has such nice smooth moves. This is their type of #. Very pretty moves. Liked it.

Nigel – Enjoyed it. You work for this # paid off. Didn’t see any chemistry between you though.

Mary – I thought there was chemistry. Not magic though.

Tyce – This # had great timing. It needed more edginess though.

4. Jeanine/Phillip will dance a Jive choreographed by Tony and wife. Story is a sailor back from leave and his girlfriend giving him a hard time. – Music – Stuff Like That There -Bette Midler – Jeanine is very good. Phillip – I had my doubts in this…..

Nigel – Tony: terrific job. Phillip – you’ve been quite a pleasant surprise for us during this journey. Each week you improve for me. Jeanine – you are one of the best dancers we’ve got.

Mary: Jeanine – awesome – you were on fire! Phillip – you surprised me that you did so well.

Tyce – Call 1-888-fan friggin tastic! Excellent

5. Randi/Evan will dance a sultry Samba choreographed by (sultry) Pasha and Enja. I truly love this couple and will miss their pairing but they are not the type to do ’sultry’. It was good though…

Nigel – Evan – Hot Samba – I don’t think so. Randi – U R HOT. Not so much together with this one though.

Mary – I said it was a slow sizzle. You lived upto the partnering. Evan – more fire!

Tyce – Evan didn’t have the strength.

6. Janette/Brandon will now dance a Jazz routine choreographed by WADE ROBSON – Story of 2 thieves who can’t make up their minds on what to do. It was very cute, both were terrific. Cool storyline. Music was Ruby Blue – Great steps. I think they are #1 for the night.

Nigel – There’s nothing we can’t throw at you two that you can’t tackle. You are the best of the night.

Mary – THE BEST COUPLE Spontaneous Combustion

Tyce – OMG – You guys have that thing. You are soooo powerful. Wade – great job.

OK, so there you have another night of dance.

Who will be in the bottom 3? Who will go home? How can we judge? They are all fabulous!

We’ll talk tomorrow.

SYTYCD – Results Show 07-02-09

July 7, 2009

Hello Everybody:

Well here it is Tuesday, the 7th and I am just getting to send out the review of the Results Show.

Cat has a gorgeous short silver dress on and her hair is straight tonight…high heels, of course! I read an article about her last night that said when she was a little girl, she wanted to be involved in the entertainment industry. She finally got her break with the BBC as a hostess for a variety show and then she got a call a few years back to come to the USA and host SYTYCD. She was going with someone at the time and broke it off with him to move across the pond. She is now going out with John Huston’s grandson who is a musician. Oh, and she said that she can’t dance a lick and if she had to their would be a ‘body count’!

The Top 14 danced to A BRAND NEW DAY – It was cool. They were all dressed in animal costumes and were coming out of a picture frame at a museum. It was choreographed by Tyce D’Orio.

OK, let’s welcome our “Jidges” – Nigel, Mary and Mia.

This will be a tough night to decide who will go home.

First up are:

1. Karla/Vitolio who danced a dynamite Quick Step = Bottom 3!

2. Randi/Evan who danced a Broadway # from Sweet Charity – SAFE

3. Jeanette/Brandon danced a terrific Cha Cha = SAFE

4. Kayla/Kupono danced that weird Vampire # = Bottom 3

5. Melissa/Ade danced that wicked hard Par de dai – SAFE

6. Jeanine/Phillip who danced a hip hop # = SAFE

7. Caitlin/Jason who danced the Alien # = Bottom 3

Nigel says that everyone has different tastes in dance. Mary says that Phillip and Jeanine are in the Bottom 3 after he draws his own style!

Cat now introduces a couple who will dance a Par de dai(?) – boy the guy is wicked strong! What legs on him…

Now Cat says that the six boys and girls will now dance…FOR THEIR LIVES!

Karla – Very nice, good feelings

Vitolio – very talented, great moves

Kayla – OK

Kupono – very rhythmic
(he danced to the Hawaiian song, that Jason Castro sang on AI, Over The Rainbow).

5. Jeanine – Beautiful

6. Phillip – Amazing pop moves

Now the Jidges have to go backstage and choose one boy and one girl to go home.

While they are doing that, Cat brings out Special Guest of the night: Kelly Clarkson. I love that Kelly shows us she can sing LIVE and sound terrific. Love the song, I DO NOT HOOKUP too. Catchy.

Jidges are back and Cat asks Nigel to choose a girl:

Nigel says that they were unanamous on their choice.

Jeanine – strong solo, brilliant…go sit down – SAFE

Kayla – brilliant, sweet, didn’t look desperate. SAFE

Karla – very good dancer but doesn’t portray “Star” quality though…have to say, Buh Bye

Now on to the Boys:

Nigel says: Unanamous again.

Phillip – you are unique, superb moves and you worked it hard. SAFE

Kupono – your solo was weak. We need more passion from you if you are to stay.

Vitolio – We feel you present yourself brilliantly and then you don’t deliver – Sorry but we are going to have to send you home tonight.

I was a little surprised at Vitolio; I thought Kupono would be leaving.

OK, next week the Top 6 couples will be back to knock our socks off.

I won’t mention much of Michael Jackson other than it was a terrible shame to lose such a talent. I feel sorry for his children.

See you next week.

SYTYCD – Top 7 Couples Perform 07-01-09

July 2, 2009

Hi Everybody – Well, all I can say is…here in New England..we’re thinking of building an ARK. I’ve never seen so much rain in my life, and trust me, I’ve been around a long time!

OK, Cat looked really cute last night in a hot pink, short, ruffled dress with a black encrustered belt, high heels (natch), hair down but…I noticed she didn’t have her ‘big ring’ on tonight! Maybe we’ll see it tomorrow night.

Tonight our “Jidges’ will be Nigel-Mary and MIA MICHAELS..oh joy!

Cat asked Mia if, after a few weeks watching the couples, if she had changed her mind on a ‘certain’ dancer! She said she had and Nigel said, “Will you name names?” She said, “no” and he said, “Would it be Brandon?” and she just laughed.

And…guess who is first up to dance tonight? Of course…it’s Jeanette and BRANDON who will do a Cha Cha choreographed by Jean Marc and France. He said this will be a ‘hot’ dance, sassy and fast.

It is Hush Hush by the Pussycat Dolls. – I love this couple and boy do they start the show off with a bang. They are excellent. What moves, steps, sassiness…etc.

Nigel: Possibly the BEST cha cha we have seen on this show EVAH!
You both were great. Considering neither one has had training in the Cha Cha.

Mary: I can hear a train coming down the tracks…it’s coming closer…it’s the Hot Tamale Train..
Jeanette, watching your feet and ankles were very exciting. Brandon, once again you have shown us how great you are! Brilliant.

Mia: Brandon – there are times when I have scared the …. out of you but it’s because I know how much potential you have. You have come a long way since the auditions and all I can say is Good Job! You are amazing. Jeanette – You were On Fire!

2. Kupono and Kayla will dance a Sonja contemporary #. She says it’s dark and vampire like…I dunno. Music is Eyes on Fire by Blue Freedtone(?)
Fans will love this cause they’re into True Blood and Twilight. Me, not so much. Steps were very intricate and they were very good. I just didn’t care for it.

Nigel: (said the same thing I said…more or less) He enjoyed it. Kupono has become a new man since he’s paired with Kayla.

Mary: You 2 are alive and kicking. Sonja played to your strengths.

Mia: Sonja, you are very weird but I like that. You two look like superstars up there. Costumes, makeup, it was all brilliant. Kayla – you commit to the dance. Kupono – the last time we saw you, we drove you crazy with your hair, etc. You keep gettng better and better. (I don’t know if it’s the Hawaiian in you; Mark had it last year)

3. Now we have Randi and Evan (one of my fave couples) who will be dancing a Broadway ## choreographed by Joy Darling(?) – It’s one of the songs from Sweet Charity – they are terrific but they didn’t blow me away tonight as much as they have in the past. I hope this doesn’t put them in the bottom 3 cause they are so good.

Nigel: This is a tribute to Bob Fosse/Gwen Verdon/Liza – Excellent job. Those wrists were very flexible. Randi – you got it. Evan – need a little more from you tonight but you are still in the Top 10!

Mary: Ohhh, when you see dancing this great (from all the couples) it’s wonderful. And what blows me away is that you only have 5 1/2 hours to learn these dances and some of them are so alien to you….great job guys.

Mia: What was missing for me was the ‘height’ part. (Joy is 6′ tall). Anyway…Randi, your dancing was a little heavy for me tonight. Evan, I want more from you.

4. Here comes Jason and Caitlin who will dance a Pop Jazz routine choreographed by Brian Freedman. It’s about an alien coming to earth to impregnate the only human left. – OK, let me say this right now…I thought Mia and Sonja were strange..they have NOTHING on this guy!
Music??? This was wicked strange. Her outfit was all black leather and aluminum foil! Steps were weird although Caitlin has the longest legs since Stacey Keebler! She’s very talented. Not so much with Jason.

Nigel: I loved the idea of a dance like this but it is just weird. You two committed 100%. Caitlin, you look like a dancing condom (to which Cat says, “Safety first!).

Mary: I don’t think it sits right with me. I love the two of you though.

Mia: Welll, I’m not sure of this. Risk taking? yes; Tin Foil on Caitlin’s costume – I dunno.
I did like it though.

5. Jeanine and Phillip will dance a Hip Hop routine (lucky for him!) choreographed by Nap and Tab. This dance tells the story of when you come on the show and you are paired with someone and you are ‘locked’ into that person. Sooo, they thought it would be a cool idea to use a chain and lock the two of them in on their ankles making it extremely difficult to dance! – Music: Love Lockdown by Kanye West – It was a very good idea and the two of them were excellent. Neither one tripped and both were popping their chests off!

Nigel: You two should be chained together for life. I loved it.

Mary: Absolutely incredibly creative. YES

Mia: I’m a big fan of Nap and Tab. For me, I got caught up in the chains and I thought it was unpredictable and sloppy.

By the way, Kayla said they practiced at home and chained themselves up for the night! (OK)

6. Melissa and Ade will do a classical padada(?) choreographed by Thore(?) – It’s taken from the ballet Romeo and Juliet. – Now this is great for Melissa because she can wear her ballet shoes and boy is she terrific. Ade ain’t bad either…loved it.

Nigel: Where can you tune in and see a hip hop number followed by ballet??? This is the first time we’ve tried it on the show and I’m so glad we did. You two were wonderful. Melissa – WOW those steps were gorgeous.
Ade – very strong moves

Mary: I just loved it. The two of you had chemistry and were flawless. Melissa – loved the ballet style; Ada – your strength certainly showed tonight

Mia: I’m so impressed by the two of you in this dance. This is what makes a true dancer. Great Couple – and I’m thrilled that we have a black Romeo and a white Juliet. Brilliant.

We now take a break while Nigel tells us about the “Dizzy Feet” Foundation which has been formed by many celebrities to have disadvantaged children get scholarships to arts schools. It’s very important that we keep the Arts going.

Nigel also tells us that he has been in talks with his ‘good friend’ Katie Holmes and that on July 23, which is the 100th episode, she will dance to a Tyce D’Orio routine which will pay tribute to Judy Garland.

Now, back to the dancers.

The last couple to perform tonight will be:

Karla and Vitolio who will dance a Quick Step choreographed by Jean Marc/Franc. Story takes place in a museum where a statue comes to life. (Karla said she loved the way Jean Marc explained every step). This is gonna be really tough cause one of the hardest dances is the Quick Step.

Well boy didn’t they pull it off. The whole number was flawless. Loved the way Karla changed her dress to make it a ballroom # and they sailed across the dance floor.

Music was Puttin On The Ritz (which reminds me of Young Frankenstein…I know, I’m a strange person!)

Nigel: Choreography was excellent. Loved the quick change in dress. It was very entertaining.

Mary: Gotta be the toughest dance to do. It looked so easy for the two of you. Very well done.

Mia: Jean Marc, you are a genius. Vitolio and Karla – this man made you two tonight.
Vitolio – at times I thought you looked like a wild horse.
Karla – you are gorgeous but need to relax more. Great job though.

Soooo there you have it. I think all 7 couples were great tonight and it will be very hard to pick your bottom 3.

Let’s see if I can:

Kayla and Kupono
Jason and Caitlin
and…I can’t believe I’m doing this….
Randi and Evan

I honestly don’t see anyone going home but I know that two have to.

We’ll see what happens on Thursday night.

I won’t be able to post my blog until next Tuesday so everyone will know what has happened by then.

Have a great 4th of July everyone.

Let’s hope for some SUN

Joanie

SYTYCD – Results Show – 06-25-09

June 26, 2009

Hi Everyone:

I’m a little late with my review of last night’s show…just found the papers in my handbag!

Well Cat looked HOT (Again) last night with a black and white one piece pantsuit and the hair looked lovely. By the way, did you check out the ROCK on her left hand!!??!!! WOW! You Go Cat!

The Top 16 dance to: I Know You Want Me by Pitbull (didn’t recognize the song until it started playing). Concept was a cafe setting and all kinds of dancing with hot outfits on (guys and gals)….cool dance.
There was even water ‘drizzling’ around (reminded me a little of Flashdance). It was kinda a hip hop routine.
It was choreographed by Dimitri/Tab/Nap. Good job guys.

OK, Cat asks “Who Did You Vote For Last Night?” Do you think your dancer will go home?

Before we start the results, Cat says that Nigel would like to say something.

Nigel is very eloquent when he wants to be. He called out THREE losses in the past week; 1 Ed McMahon – 2 Farrah Fawcett – 3 Michael Jackson. He paid tribute to each one but you can’t ‘breeze’ by MJ without being amazed at his accomplishments. Say what you will about the ‘bad things’ in his life. I think he was a tortured soul with no childhood. This is why he chose to build Neverland…did you know it cost him $1M a year to run that place.
Anyway…..we will miss his genius. There’ll never be another Elvis and there will never be another Michael..so sad.

They closed the segment with a little bit of THRILLER. It’s STILL the #1 album of all time. I’m sure it will sell many more copies now.

Nigel said that many entertainers (especially dancers) were inspired by MJ. Moonwalk anyone?

OK, they have 5 couples standing on the stage with Cat…let’s see how is Safe and who is in the Bottom 3.

1. Oscar/Vitolio – Jazz
Bottom 3

2. Jeanett/Brandon – Hip Hop – Safe

3. Randi/Evan – Contemp – Safe as Safe could be…GREAT

Jeanine/Phillip – Broadway – Safe(!)

Ade/Melissa – Rhumba – Safe

OK, let’s do the three remaining couples (boy, this means that 2 out of 3 will be in the Bottom 3!)

1. Karla/Jonathan – Hip Hop – Bottom 3 (doesn’t surprise me)

2. Caitlin/Jason – Paso Doble – Bottom 3 (it was the ‘music’ folks!)

3. Kupono/Kayla – Waltz – Safe (another surprise….)

The guest tonight are The Rage Boys Crew (I’d rather switch over to the New Jersey Housewives – ‘reunion’)

OK, let’s see the Solos

1. Oscar – Not much for me

2. Vitolio – Great dexterity

3. Karla – not crazy about her

4. Jonathan – too much acrobats and not enough dancing.

5. Caitlin – flawless

6. Jason – Just “OK”

My choice: Oscar and Jason

The Veronicas are going to perform now while the “Jidges” decide who will go home tonight. Me…I’m on my way back to BRAVO…

OK, whew…back just in time:

Nigel – Girls “We were all unanimous tonite. Caitlin – you are growing each week – please sit down, you’re safe (poor Caitlin looked stunned and stumbled off the stage).

Karla – your solo was not good. too rushed and you were going nowhere with it.

Oscar – you are surely a beautiful girl and you give so much of yourself to each performance.

he Girl going home tonight is: OSCAR
(oh boy, Vitolio will be all over her!)

Let’s go to the boys:

Nigel – Vitolio, you always show a gread deal of promise and never follow thru. If we keep you tonite you had better start ‘bringing it’ or else you will be in the Bottom 3 again and, because there are so many talented dancers left, you WILL go home.

Jonathan – You two are again in the Bottom 3. During your solo you did too many gym moves and not enough dance moves.

Jason – Last week you were good; this week the solo you danced looked desperate.

The boy we are sending home tonight is: JONATHAN

Soooo, Jonathan and Oscar are gone.

Karla and Vitolio will be a new couple next week. (there’s nothing every comfortable with this concept. You just have to dance your best each no matter who you are paired with and, with the luck of the draw, get a routine you can relate to!!!)

Cat says: We have some breaking news we want to share with you. In all the seasons of American Idol they have never done this before…next Monday at 8, AI will repeat the Tribute to MJ Week.

Take care everyone. Have a great weekend. More sun than rain please!

Joanie

SYTYCD – Top 16 Perform – 06/24/09

June 25, 2009

Hi Everyone: Guess what….I can actually see the SUN trying to break out! I can’t even fathom what it’s like living in Seattle!

Cat looks adorable tonight in an orange # with a gold band around her waist and around her neck…almost like a ‘toga’. High heels (natch) and hair down and slightly curled.

She introduced the Top 16 and then the “Jidges”

Tonight we will have Nigel/Mary and Toni Basil (didn’t she have that cheerleader video years ago?) help us critique the 8 couples.

Cat said that we will ask each one what they would be if they were not dancers. (I got most of them).

Karla and Jonathan are first up and they will dance a Hip Hop # choreographed by Dave Scott. Jonathan would be an Acrobat in Cirque duSoliel and Karla would be a Journalist.

They danced to a Gangsta type song and I wasn’t knocked over by it. Looked like they were struggling. Couldn’t believe Jonathan, with the sweet face, could be a hip hop guy!

Nigel – It was smooth; not hip hop. Jonathan, your feet weren’t where they should be. – No chemistry between you and Karla. No style. It was like Sunday school piicnic outing! (Guess he didn’t like it!)

Mary – Didn’t get in touch with inner gangste. Last week – you were in the Top 3; tonight I fear you will be in the Bottom 3.

Toni: Hip Hop is a series of street style steps. This felt store bought. Didn’t do it for me.

Next up is Vitolio and Oscar who will do a Jazz # by Mandy Moore. Vitolio would be a lead singer for a rock band and Oscar would be a jewerly maker.

This is supposed to be thrash/rock star/hip hop guy who get together. (before I go any further – Oscar was having a lot of trouble with this # and Vitolio was all over her, comforting her..nice). TThe music is Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar – They’re better than Couple #1 but it still doesn’t do it for me. Good jumps and stretches but that’s about it.

Nigel: FANTASTIC! (guess that told me). He says that he saw the # in rehearsals and had his doubts but they definitely pulled it off.

Mary: It was reeally good. Not at last week’s level though.

oni – The 2 of you have the potential to be a powerful couple. When the # was done, I loved the way you carried her over to Cat – Vitolio. You are so strong. Don’t let your emotions get in the way of your technique.

Next is Ade and Melissa who will dance a Rhumba choreographed by Tony M. and his wife. Ade: Sound Engineer – Melissa – Pilates Instructor – OK, this will be a ‘love dance’ between a man and a woman….OK.
Song is Emotion by Destiny’s Child (BeeGees song) – Now this is what I’m talking about. WOW! Her outfit, by the way, is something Megan Fox would wear…HOT!!!
He looks good too. Great lines and posture. They nailed it.

Cat – Melissa – you are HOT! tonight…

Nigel: It reminds me of an old Rita Hayworth # (that’s old…). The look and carriage were very good. Ade, you were incredible. You were so strong for her to help her with some of those steps.

Mary: WOOOOOO! You two sell emotion and I’m buying it! Steps were unbelievable. Ade – the ’sliding door’ steps were growing on you. (now she screams)

Toni – I must say it was beautifully done – HOT – Tony and Melanie – you are one hot couple. I remember watching you when you competed years ago (and won…I remember them too). Excellent

Now it’s time for Janette and Brandon who will dance a Dave Scott routine. Janette – would be a Loan Processor and Brandon would be a Lighting Designer. Dave says this is Rock and Roll meets hip hop. She’s a Rock Star and he’s a hip hop kinda guy. Well who knew how well Brandon could hip hop (of course he’s one of my faves so it didn’t really surprise me!) – They danced to What A World by Common – Her outfit is kinda like a Britney Spears #. He’s very hip hop. They both were excellent. Tough moves. Very entertaining. Loved it!

Nigel – You two were like 50 Cents and Cher. Brandon – what a hip hop guy you turned out to be. Janette – boy can you ‘rock’ and you’re a ’salsa’ gal.

Mary – You guys really hit it. Brandon – you really brought it on. Janette – Excellent (now Mary screams and hits Nigel who goes bonkers cause he has a pinched nerve in his neck! no wonder he’s cranky tonight).

Toni – Great combo of rock and roll and hip hop. Dave, you gave them a great # to perform and they didn’t disappoint. You nailed it.

Next is Kupono and Kayla who will dance a Viennese Waltz – Kupono would be a Costume Designer and Kayla would be a model.
Rehearsals were scary. I’m not sure they can pull this dance off. – Music is Sweet Dreams of You by Jewel – Well it turned out to be a very nice number. She’s beautiful but he’s struggling a little bit.

Nigel – It was very beautiful. Do I think it’s memorable? No – Do I think people will stand up and cheer? – No – But I hope I’m wrong.

Mary – It was elegant, flowing, endearing. You two are not even close to ballroom dancers and you surprised us. I’m putting you on the Hot Tamale Train….ok

Toni – I really liked it. But I can’t understand Tony why you had Kupono shoeless and dancing a waltz? It was an even tougher challenge.

Now it’s time for Evan and Randi (I think my fave couple) – They will do a contemp. # by Mia Michaels (who sometimes goes off the ‘deep end’ with her interpretations of music). Didn’t get what they would be cause I switched to Larry King and got caught up in the SC Gov’s STUPID mistake with his Argentinian BFF…puhleez. – Music is Koop Island Blues – WOW they are one sexy couple. She is adorable and shaking her ‘booty’ all over the place. What an adorable #. They tell a story and keep us mesmerized. Love Them

Nigel: Sometimes you can take a simple concept and turn it into something special and that’s what Mia did for us tonight. Bravo Mia! Randi – you weren’t afraid to ’shake your butt’ all over the place and it was great. This number WILL be remembered.

Mary: Awesome. You guys were terrific. Your characters kept going thru the whole #. You two are the best couple so far tonight. Evan – Excellent; Randi – that slow backbend was unreal!

Toni – Love Mia Michaels’ routines. She did one last year for Twitch that was so memorable and I think she did the same for you two tonight.

Caitlin/Jason will dance a Pasa Doble choreographed by Jean Marc. Caitlin would be a reporter and Jaason would play soccer.
This is the story of two people who hate each other and then learn to care. – Oh Boy – this music is really weird. Love it but would never pick it for a pasa doble. Makes it even harder for them to dance it. Didn’t give me tingles….

Nigel – Mucic? Passionate? – Jason, you should be connecting with your parner – not the audience. Caitlin – you had a good flow.

Mary – How far apart can you get! One week the two of you dance Bollywood; now you are doing a pasa doble. It was a strong performance. Good moves – well done.

Toni – for me, it was good entertainment. Powerful – good – the two of you were definitely out of your comfort zone!

and lastly, we have Jeanine and Phillip who will dance a Broadway routine choreographed by Tyce. It’s a # from the musical Singin’ In The Rain. – Phillip would be an inventor and Jeanine would be an actress.
In rehearsals, Phillip was having a heckuva time jumping over the couch…the long way! Hope he manages to do it now. – Well you can’t go wrong with Broadway and he DID jump the couch but there wasn’t much content there. Couldn’t feel it with Phillip. Jeanine was much better. We’ll see

Nigel – Phillip – you had happen to you what many of us in the industry have had happen at one time or another….you ripped your pants (Phillip turned around and you could see the big tear). Tyce’s routine was tough. Jeanine, you brought it. Phillip, you need to grow more. I thought you would be better by now.

Mary – Loved this routine. Phillip, I thought you did well. Jeanine, you can step out on any Broadway stage.

Toni – You two were adorable but the routine wasn’t. – However, you were better this week than last.

OK, that’s it for another night of dancing.

Who do I think will be in the Bottom 3 tonight?

Phillip and Jeanine
Karla and Jonathan
Kupono and Kayla

SYTYCD – Results Show – 06/18/09

June 19, 2009

Morning Everyone: Another dreary day here in NE….I’m beginning to think I live in Seatle!

Boy did Cat look cute last night. She had a white pant suit on that fit her like a glove. Hair was down and, natch, those high, high heels. Nigel complimented her and she said, “Her boyfriend would be happy!” (Maybe he picked out the outfit?)

The Top 18 came on stage and danced to HIGHER GROUND by Stevie Wonder – weird, strange # and what was with the makeup on the faces? All dressed in suits, reminded me of Reservoir Dogs a bit. Of course, afterwards, we find out it was choreographed by Mia Michaels…she and Sonja ought to go hide in a room somewhere.

Cat introduces the Jidges! and we start with the results:

First they were teasing Lil C on his ‘dictionary’ explaining the intricacies(?) of dance….

Melissa/Ade – Jazz – SAFE
Caitlin/Jason – Hip Hop Bottom 3
Phillip/Jeanine – Tango – SAFE
(last two couples were tough to decide).

Brandon/Jeanette SAFE
Karla/Jonathan – Contemporary – SAFE
Ashley/Kapuno – Hip Hop – Bottom 3
(this one didn’t surprise me)

Evan/Randi – FUN – SAFE
(before we went any further, Cat wanted to show us the auditions for Season 6 and who was on the stage but Evan’s bro, Ryan tapping away. The Judges simply said, “Come get your ticket to Vegas!” So we will see Ryan in the fall – I didn’t think they did 2 seasons of Dance but maybe it’s so popular they decided to?)
Asuka/Vilolio – Waltz – SAFE
Max/Kayla – Pop Jazz – Bottom 3 (this one kinda surprised me cause it was a cool # – Princess and the guy who wanted to take her throne?)

OK – all six will DANCE FOR THEIR LIVES

First we see this Indian couple come out and do a dance from their culture.

Me…I’m switching over to The Real Housewives of New Jersey to see if I can catch any more tables being flipped!

OK, let’s watch the six boys and girls – Dance For Their Lives

Caitlin – beautiful
Jason – (ohhh, he chose a Robin Thicke song!) nice jumps.
Ashley – awesome (she reminds me of Marion Coulliard, the actress who won the Oscar for LaVienRose(I’m sure I mangled that!)
Kupono – smooth
Kayla – OK
Max – Loved him

Now we are going to see Kristiana deBarge sing for us (hey, I wonder if she’s any relation to Chris deBarge who sang, Lady In Red, years ago and was married to Janet Jackson…just wondering)…don’t really care, cause I’m back on the New Jersey gals.

Cat now says, OK Nigel who’s going home tonight?

Nigel:

“If it were up to us, we would keep all 6 but we can’t because that’s not how the show is run. The choices this week were NOT unanamous.

Caitlin – You have usch control of your movements – SAFE

Ashley – You are part of the Hollywood glamour; however, your solo had no substance.

Kayla – You have to prove too much to yourself and therefore you were throwing too many steps out there.

Girl going home tonight is: KAYLA

Boys – Nigel:

Once again, NOT unanamous.

Jason – your solo was exceptionally strong. great control – SAFE

Kapono – There was very little substance in your solo tonight; however when you do dance with your partner you take on that character and we like that in you.

Max – You are a hard worker but your ballroom style is holding you back I’m afraid.

Boy going home tonight is: MAX

Next week Kayla and Kapono will be a new couple.

Have a great weekend everyone. Talk to you next week.

SYTYCD – Top 9 Perform – 06/17/09

June 18, 2009

Hi Everyone:

Happy ‘belated’ Bunker Hill Day to all you Suffolk County constituents and all Fed/State Employees!

Well it was quite a nite for dancing. I honestly thought last week’s as a whole was better but we had some good dance numbers last night.

First of all, didn’t Cat look ‘hot’ in her red puffy one shoulder #, with her hair pushed back and those high, high heels of hers!

Judges this week will be: Lil C (who wasn’t crazy about Brandon during auditions), Mary and Nigel (I think these two are pretty permanent).

We learned a little more about each couple last night but I won’t get into it…unless I remember what it was.

First up will be Randi and Evan who will dance a Jive choreographed by Louis Van Amstel (our buddy from DWTS!). If the 3 of them said it once, they said it like 50 times…and that is, this will be a FUN routine!
No real story to tell. Just FUN. Music: Shake a Tail Feather sung by Ray Charles. This couple is very well suited for each other (besides both being short, they blend well together). All I can say is…it was a FUN routine. Thought Louis did another good job.

Lil C: That was outta the box with a bang!
Evan – you are almost too smooth with your steps. You’ve gotta be harder and more precise.
Randi – you are a firecracker! and…it was FUN! (then all the judges start saying FUN)

Mary – It was FUN! You two are built for each other (I just said that!) and the Jive but it fell short for me. Evan – I didn’t quite get your steps. Randi – you were just great.

Nigel: Loved the routine Louis. So glad that you will be working with us this season. Evan – you weren’t as good as I hoped you would be. The double bounce was missing. Randi – much better. As a couple, you are great.

2. Ade/Melissa will do a Jazz number for us choreographed by, you guessed it, Sonja! Sonja says this is the story of a high maintenance girl and a guy who hates to lose.
Music is: 24 Hours by Terry Poison(?) – Wow, Ade is sooo strong. The jumps are unreal. It was a quirky dance that was hard on their backs. – Good though.

Lil C – That was BUZZ
Ade – Remember when we chose you and you didn’t think you could compete with the rest of the crowd? Well let me tell you….YOU ARE the competition!
Melissa – You have to search for the steps and you did it.

Mary: It’s time for ‘tough love’ and let me tell you that there was NOTHING I didn’t like about that dance. Excellent.

Nigel: Sonja, as usual, you were ‘out there’. She certainly helped you show what great dancers you both are.

3. Jason/Caitlin will dance to a Hip Hop routine choreographed by Shane Sparks (not a big fan of this type of dance). Story of a couple with chemistry who are drawn to each other. This was a VERY sexy routine. Entertaining.

Lil C – I did not love this dance. I’m perplexed and didn’t make sense at the end of the number.

Mary – It was like Michael Jackson and Britney Spears types. You weren’t in sync.

Nigel – We expect a certain hard side of hip hop. Shane did it different for you guys cause you’re not used to dancing hip hop and you all did a decent job.

4. Brandon/Jeanette will dance a Disco routine choreographed by Dionna Sanchez – Music is: Loving is Really My Game by Brainstorm – WOW! the jumps, splits (Jeanette!) Tough steps to do…ohhh so fast. (LUV Brandon).

Lil C – He rambled on about something and then said, “I just witnessed the birth of progression of two amazing dancers” (I think he liked it….)

Mary – Was that on Fast Forward?? I never saw a disco done so fast. The two of you just nailed it. – screaming

Nigel – Tremendous routine Doriana. To think you were in Dirty Dancing years ago and I never saw you dance that fast!

5. Asaku/Vitalio will dance a Waltz by Louis. This is a lyrical, spiritual routine. Another well suited couple. The lifts are gorgeous. Music is: Dreams are More Precious by Enja – it was lovely and moving.

Mary – Oh My Goodness – you’ve got me crying that was so beautiful. Vitolio you have the most ‘honest’ moves. Asuka – A Latin Tango dancer who never waltzed. Who would believe it.

Lil C – Vitalio – your had choppy steps but the routine was so honest it didn’t matter to me. Osaku -you were great.

Nigel – You were both great and to think that last week you were in the Bottom 3…trust me, this week you will be in the Top 3!

6. Max/Kayla will dance a Pop Jazz routine choreographed by Bryan Freedman(?). Music is: Hot Like WOW by Nadia Ho? – it’s the story of a Princess and the man who comes into her life and tries to take away her throne. – This couple is UNREAL. Very strong and in perfect sync. It was cool, different, I liked it.

Lil C – Dancing is a language and boy is it hard to read Freedman but you two did it. Max and Kayla – WOW!

Mary – Max you were quite a surprise tonight. Kayla – you are a ‘beast’. – scream

Nigel – You are a frontrunner Kayla. Max – wonderful partner. You had to work hard to keep up with her.

7. Jonathan/Karla will dance a contemporary routine which will be choreographed by Stacey Toukey(?). Story is two strangers who meet and fall in love. – Music is: Falling Slowly by The Frays (Kris Allen of AI also sang this) – Boy, you can feel them falling in love. Nice number.

Mary – Jonathan you did that style better than your own. The two of you are the best.

Nigel – You had the center of gravity Jonathan and it was incredible. You two will go up to the Top tonight.

Lil C – You danced it! Perfect balance.

8. Phillip/Jeanine will dance a Tango choreographed by Tony Meredith – (during rehearsal, Tony was saying he was ‘nervous’ about this #). – Music is some tango mix. – WOW I can’t believe they didn’t know the Tango before this. I thought they did a great job. They had excellent moves.

Mary – Phillip – the Tango attitude is an Aplus; however, the technique is a Cminus at best. You have to work on your footword Jeanine – you kept your character going.

Lil C – Jeanine – cool. Phillip – you had no confidence in the routine.

Nigel – (he looks at Tony and asks if Phillip should have had his knees bent during the # and Tony said, “YES, the whole #”). Here’s the reality. Last week you were good. This week is another story. It was tough.

and the last couple to dance for us tonight;

9. Ashley/Kaputo will do a Shane Sparks routine. – hip hop – Ashley will try and be Kaputo’s shadow and do exactly as he does. – Music: Inna B by the Black Eyed Peas – I thought it was terrific. Great steps. Shane did a good job.

Mary – It was OK….
Wasn’t memorable.

Lil C – Kaputo, you struggled. Ashley you couldn’t follow him.

Nigel – I felt that it stopped just as I started to like it. I was underwhelmed.

OK, tonight who will be in the bottom 3????

Jason/Caitlin
Phillip/Jeanine
Ashley/Kaputo

Have no idea who will go home.

By the way…did you see the commercial for MORE TO LOVE coming in July by the people who brought us, The Bachelor? Looks good.

Talk to you tomorrow.

SYTYCD – Results Show – 06/11/09

June 15, 2009

Hi Everybody:

Sorry I haven’t written before this but I was out sick again on Friday. I’m sure you all know the results of Thursday night’s show so I’ll just do a short recap.

Cat looked hot (once again) in a gold wrap dress, with hair down and curly and high heels – not that she needs them!)

The Top 20 perform the Black Eyed Peas song: Boom Boom. Very tight, good steps – Phillip did a hip hop bit. Jade Ross did the choreography.

Adam, Mary and Nigel have the task to choose who goes home tonight…after they hear the results of fans’ votes. It’s gonna be tough this year.

They then tell us how the Top 20 became partners – thru picking names from a hat. Sooo, they have never danced together and some have never danced to the type of routine they were given to learn…talk about pressure.

OK, as Cat would say:
Let’s get to it:

First 3 couples:

Kayla/Max did a Samba
- SAFE

Randi/Evan did a Jazz routine – SAFE

Jeanine/Phillip did a hip hop routine -SAFE

Next 4 couples:

Caitlin/Jason – Bollywood routine (one of the best of the night) – SAFE

Melissa/Ade – did a contemporary routine – SAFE

Ashley/Kapoto – Jazz Routine – SAFE

Paris/Tony – hip hop routine (they were #2) – Bottom 3

Osaku/Vitalio – Chicago routine – Bottom 3

Brandon/Jeanette did a reat Foxtrot – SAFE

Jonathan/Karla did a pretty good Cha Cha and still were voted into the Bottom 3.

The six dancers will all now: DANCE FOR THEIR LIVES (I’ve missed saying that phrase although AI had a new version this past season with the “SAVE”)

OK, let’s get to the nitty gritty here:

Paris, Osaka and Karla – Paris – Buh Bye….

Tony, Vitalio and Jonathan – Tony – Buh Bye….

So there you have the first week in a nutshell.

Hope to be around to give you the lowdown on Wed. nite’s dances.

By the way, I found another show you may be interested in. It’s called “How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria” and it’s on BBC on Sunday nights. It just started and they’ve got their top 10 girls already – The winner is Maria in Lord Andrew’s new production of The Sound of Music.

Talk to you later this week, Joanie

SYTYCD – Top 20 Perform 06/10/09

June 11, 2009

Hi Everyone: We haven’t talked in a while. Hope everyone is doing fine. I myself have a miserable cold so I may not make sense during part of this review but I’ll try my best.

Before I get started, don’t forget to tune in to 20/20 tomorrow night to see Adam Lambert being interviewed. I don’t think many of us were ’surprised’ when he came ‘out’ in Rolling Stone mag this week. Doesn’t make any difference to anyone who enjoys TALENT!

OK, let’s get started on this season’s SYTYCD. They seem to move a lot faster than AI which is a good thing. (Did you know that AI auditions will be in Boston this coming Sunday, June 14???)
I didn’t do a review on the auditions because they were so confusing. I do have a few ‘favorites’ though so let’s see how far they get in the competition. (Evin, Brandon).

Cat Deeley is back as cute as ever. To think there was a time when I didn’t like this gal. Don’t know why. She has an adorable little white number with a lot of silver metallic sparkle all over it. Looking good.

The judges this week will be:

Adam Shamkin (love him)
Mary Murphy (with her Hot Tamale train voice)
Nigel Lythgoe – exec. prod/creator and head honcho (much like Simon on AI!).

We have taken the top 20 and had them draw names from hats to see who they will be paired up with. If you have watched the show in the past, you know that the prod. keep them together until they are totally comfy with each other and then move them around!

A lot of these kids have never heard of some of these dances either so it will be very interesting to see how they do adjusting and learning in a short amount of time.

First up will be:

Jeanine and Phillip (Phillip is a ‘popper’. He tried out last year and was going forward to the top 20 when he got pneumonia and had to quit. He’s back this year and, much to his credit, made the top 20 again.) Tabatha and Napoleon will choreograph this theme which is a couple who do not want to go to bed mad with each other. MAD by NeYo is the music. – This is going to be a good match I think. They move very well together. She has never done hip hop and he is really into it. WOW, they are very good.

Adam: “Unfreakin’ Real”
Jeanine, you have no hip hop background yet look so comfortable out there. Phillip, no one can dance like you.

Mary: Oh Yeah!!!! I agree. I was kinda worried about you Jeanine but boy are you good

Nigel: Fantastic Jeanine. Phillip, you already have a following. Nap and Tab – great job.

2. Next is Asuka and Vitalio who will dance a Broadway routine choreographed by Tyce D’Orio. This is the story of an actress and a director. Song is from Chicago. Love Vitalio’s jumps. They did an OK job but not as good as #1.

I dunno. The character parts were very good.

Mary: I was left sitting here a little disappointed. Not much energy to it. Looked like you were playing it safe.

Nigel: Lines were fantastic. Your personalities were missing though.

3. Karla and Jonathan will be dancing a Cha Cha choreographed by Tony Meredith to the tune, Poker Face by Lady GaGa. – They are a nice couple. Good blend. Like him more than her.

Adam: It was really good. Your technique, lines were very good. Loved the ‘rolls’

Mary: Jon, you are HOT! (first scream of the night). It was a whole lotta fun.

Nigel: This is another couple we knew little about before tonight. You exploded for us!

4. Randi and Evan (luv him) – they will do a Jazz number with Tyce. It is a love story and when they look at each other they can not take their eyes off of each other. The music will be I Only Have Eyes For You by Jamie Cullum (how spot on). All I can say is:
HOT HOT HOT – best couple so far for me.

Adam: You both were terrific. Lines, sensuality. Evan, you are a beautiful dancer. Tyce, excellent job.

Mary: The stars have come out tonight. (more screaming).

Nigel: Absolutely fantastic. The flow, movement, control.
(by the way, Randi is married and Evan was a little nervous…they still were able to set us on fire though)

5. Paris and Tony will do a hip hop number by Nap and Tab. Music is Let The Beat Rock by Blackeyed Peas. – They’re good. They move very well together. I like the outfits. Not as good as #1 though.

Adam: You were both really good but the costumes were distracting for me. I wanted to see more attack and rebound. If you get a crump # you’ll have to be more fierce!!!

Mary: For me, it was not memorable. Tony, this is your field and I was left wanting.

Nigel: I agree with Mary. Paris, you are a good dancer. Tony, you need room to grow. You just did your steps.

6. Caitlin and Jason (Caitlin tried out with her sis and they just picked her). They will be doing a Bollywood #. The show tried this out last year and Nigel loved it. I’m glad he has chosen to put it in the regular rotation this year. Music is: Jai Ho from Slumdog – WOW, they are excellent….

Adam: You guys rocked. Jason, your handwork was spot on. Caitlin, you blew me away with your leg movements.

Mary: Bollywood came to Hollywood! The costumes are gorgeous. Loved the handstand. Jason – you have such charisma!

Nigel: Your were just as good as Joshua and Katie were last year when they did this type of #.

7. Brandon and Janette (ohhhh, Brandon). They will be performing a Fox Trot chor. by Louis of DWTS..how cool! Music is: Come Fly With Me by Michael Buble. – Her gown is beautiful. WOW what a spin! Great work.

Adam: It must be sad for people to see Brandon in clothes! (he did audition and previous #s in next to nothing!). Didn’t make much difference though cause you were still hot. Such smooth moves, had character and performance.

Mary: (Cat says to her something about expressions and Mary says, “Can’t do that anymore since I had BOTOX!!! Then they both laughed like heck.!!) – Jeanette – you were like Ginger and Brandon, wellll, you know how I feel about YOU!

Nigel: Jeanette, you were beautiful. Brandon, framework was a little awkward. And work on your feet. And..it was very good.

8. Ashley and Kupono will do a Jazz # chor. by Wade Robson (this guy is sooo good at his craft). They will play 2 crash test dummies, one very nervous. The costumes are wicked cool. The music is Fit Mountain by? – Once again, Wade has blown me away. He takes you into his wacky world and has you likin’ it! Great # and great dance steps.

Adam: Your technique and ability were exquisite. Wade, you are one sick puppy!

Mary: I went on the trip with you two and loved it Wade. Ashley, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of you.

Nigel: Wade is a genius. He gave you both characters we could believe in.

9. Melissa and Ade (Melissa’s a little nervous cause she’s 29 and the oldest of the group). They will do a contemporary # by ? Music is: Right Here Waiting For You by Richard Marx – It was OK. It just didn’t do much for me.

Adam: That was special. (he’s getting teary eyed). Ade, you have a great power of dance. You moved me.

Mary: (more screaming) Totally amazing.

Nigel: What a fabulous Top 20 this is this year.
Excellent job.

and last but not least,

10. Max and Kayla will dance the Samba chor. by Louis. He said he has known Max since he was 14! Music: Jim BVai Day by Gypsies(?)

WOWWWWZZZZIIEEE
Soooo good.

Adam: That was soooo good (didn’t I just say that?) OMG – Max, you have got to be the luckiest guy in the world to have chosen that dance and have Louis do the chor. Are you kidding me?
Max, I am psyched!

Mary: The Hot Tamale Train is leaving the station! Awesome.

Nigel: Truly sensational. What I loved about it – Kayla, you are so good. Max, great but you could be a little sharper.

You two topped an absolutely brilliant night of dancing.

So there you have it.

3 girls and 3 boys go into the bottom tonight with one girl and one boy going home.

I am not even going to VENTURE a guess because everyone of them brought something special to the table. What a year we are going to have! (just not too much Mia please???)

Talk to you tomorrow,

Joanie
