Goodaye Everyone:
Thought I’d give you a brief update on my weekend…it’ll be brief cause I didn’t do much.
Saturday – 3:10 To Yuma – Well I walked into the theater with my friend Patti and we sat way in front. I turned around to the audience and said, “Are we ready to be entertained with Russell!!!” A few people laughed. Patti just crunched down in her seat and shook her head.
Patti thought the movie was loud but, then again, it is a western. In the first 10 minutes a coach made of metal (carrying Brinks money) is hit on by the Ben Wade gang and you could hear EVERY bullet hit that coach.
For those of you who have seen the black and white version with Glenn Ford (Russell’s role) and Van Heflin (Christian Bale’s role), you’ll notice that there are differences. The 50s version is short; this one is 2 hours long. Naturally I enjoyed it very much. In fact, I think a lot of people went to see it because it was No. 1 at the box office bringing in $14.1 Million!
Shoot ‘Em Up was #6 with $5.45M. I’m sure it will do better next week.
I watched a movie yesterday, at home, called STRANGER THAN FICTION with Will Ferrell, Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman and Maggie Gyllenhal. I thought, since it was a Will Ferrell movie, that it would be funny but it was kinda serious. It wasn’t great – but it wasn’t awful either. I’d give it a marginal thumbs up!
On TV, I watched MONK with Tony Shahloub. This show is always entertaining. I also watched sports….The New England Patriots (they were just awesome!), the Red Sox (they won) and Roger Federer (how great is this guy???!!!).
I caught the beginning of the VMA Show last night on MTV. I was curious to see how Britney would do. Personally, I thought she was awful. She didn’t even pretend that she was singing the words on part of the number. Her outfit was just plain tacky and the audience was just staring as if to say, “This is the MAIN attraction??” Also, what was with the Cris Angel angle???? Didn’t see ANY magic there. I just think it was No Talent Britney that we saw on that stage.
Speaking of, no talent, Sarah Silverman followed Britney’s ‘performance’ and was such a potty mouth, I turned her off and went to bed. Nothing funny about Sarah. I wonder if she’s like that with her boyfriend, Jimmy Kimmel???
Oh, I almost forgot, I watched TORCHWOOD on Saturday night on BBC. It was good. Very sci-fi stuff so if you’re not into that, you probably wouldn’t like it.
After the show, the Graham Norton Show was on and he had David Tennant (from Dr. Who) as his guest. It’s amazing to me that David has such a female following considering he’s as gay as Graham and we all know how gay he is! Still, it was a very funny show.
One more week before the new shows start to appear. I’ll try and keep you ‘informed’ on what I think will be a hit and a miss.
Next Sunday is the Emmys. That’ll be fun to watch.
Talk to you later in the week.
Joanie (hope you had a good weekend Robin Thicke)
