Goodaye everyone:
Beautiful weather today in New England…it’s like Fall.
Let’s see what news/information I can provide for you this week that you may not have heard…or, at least, my take on it!
MOVIE NEWS
Naomi Watts has been offered the Tipp Hedren (Melanie Griffith’s mom) role in the remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s, The Birds. She’d make a great choice. Let’s see if they do it.
Sean Peen and Matt Damon are signed to be in director, Gus Van Sant’s movie about openly gal politician (NO…not Larry Craig!) Harvey Milk (Penn) and his killer, Dan White (Damon). It is written by Dustin Lance Black who’s worked on HBO’s Big Love (great show). Production will begin in December.
“Our” Russell Crowe is spending much of September in the Baltimore/Washington area filming scenes for a new thriller, Body of Lies. This will be Russell’s 4th collaboration with fellow Aussie, director, Ridley Scott. Production will later move to Morocco. The movie is based on a novel by Washington Post columnist, Daid Ignatius. Leo DiCaprio will play operative Roger Ferris who teams with CIA boss, Ed Hoffman (Russell) to catch an Al Qaeda leader by planting a false rumor that the bomber is in cahoots with the Americans. No Release Date as yet.
Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are due to team up again (they did Fight Club together a few years back) to start filming State of Play. It’s a political drama with exwives, mistresses and a murder all mixed in. I watched the BBC miniseries when it was on and it was excellent. I’m sure this will be just as good.
Julia Ormond (Sabrina, Legends of the Fall) will costar with Jason Isaace (The Patriot, Brotherhood) in a 16th Century Spanish Drama during the reign of King Philip II. Isaacs will play a traiter to the King while Ormond will play the Princess of Ebali. Filming will take place in Spain and Portugal.

Don’t know anyone in it but here’s the story: A man wakes up and there are 2 men in his room. The next ten minutes you are brought into the lives to 10 people while you find yourself being brought closer and closer to the truth on why those guys are in there. Sounds very suspenseful.

Grey’s Anatomy – The Complete Third Season

NEWS
Bruce Campbell (Burn Notice) has turned down the change to play Elvis Presley again in the sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep (never heard of it).
(note from Jamie- you’re missing out)
He said the character is dead to him. Somehow I think Bruce made the smart move here!!
By the way, I just read that HAIRSPRAY will be coming out on DVD, November 20th Can’t wait to see it again.

One last story, I’m sad to report that Sydney Pollack has terminal cancer. Sydney is giving it the good fight but we don’t expect him to last much longer. He’s 73. He and Robert Redford did a few movies together, back in the day and who can forget TOOTSIE, the movie that won him and Dustin Hoffman Oscars. He’s made a lot of friends in Hollywood over the years. They are visiting and calling. We’ll pray for you Sydney.Take care everyone. Have a nice weekend. (you too Robin Thicke)
We’ll talk next week on my ‘picks’ for the new season….
