Dancing With The Stars – Week 6

October 31, 2007

Goodaye Everyone:

It’s been quite a week here in New England.  The Red Sox won the World Series (they’re the only team to repeat in the 2000s!) and Tommy and the Patriots are now 8-0.  It’s a very exciting time!!!

By the way, I notice that Samantha is still wearing ‘cover up’ outfits while she is getting back in shape.  Very pretty dresses…still don’t care for her though!

OK, Dancing, Night One:

This week, the dancers will perform a dance that they haven’t done yet.

Legal lifts tonight!

1.  Sabrina and Mark will perform a Foxtrot to Because I’m A Woman.  They did a good job.  She looked lovely in her gown.  So grown up.

Judges liked it too:  9-8-8 for a total of:  25  (Even Len and Bruno agreed)

2.  Jennie and Derek danced a Mambo – Cute outfit on Jennie.  She’s loosened up a bit this week.  She doesn’t look quite as scared.  Good dance too.  Derek taught her some cool steps this week.  Some of them were hard moves.  Judges liked it:  9-9-9 for a total of:  27!

3.  Jane and Tony danced a Jive.  As much as Tony worked with Jane on this dance, and she did a very good job, I think this was not a dance she should have been doing.  She’s a little ‘long in the tooth’ to be swung around like that.  Didn’t care for it….see her in the Bottom 2.

Judges weren’t thrilled.  Len/Bruno agree again!!!  Tom Bergeron couldn’t believe it.  Judges:  8-7-7 for a total of:  22

Comment:  Samantha is such a jerk.  Asking these contestants:  “Who do you think will win?”  How can any of them answer that!!???  Then she blows off a remark about the San Diego fires that must have affected Jane Seymour – Go Take Care Of Your Baby Sam…..Stay Home!!!

4.  Cameron and Edyta danced a Samba.  WOW!  Nice Samba.  Edyta’s costume was really hot and Cam didn’t look so bad himself!  The singers worked hard learning the Spanish song too.  Bruno’s mark that Edyta looked like Pocahontas was funny but didn’t effect me.  He also called Cam – Captain John Smith – that’s OK too….cause they were GOOD!!!

Judges were mixed on the dance though:  9-8-8 for a total of:  25

5.  Mel B. and Maksim performed a Rhumba.  They talked about the love and hate relationship they have and that’s what they brought to the dance floor.  She looked like she had a slit sheet on but she knew her dance steps.  She did very well (even though she’s not my fave).  Maksim never seizes to amaze me.  Judges loved it:  10-10-10 for a total of:  30

(Len sounded like a rapper giving his comments!)

I guess they only had 6 hours total time to work on this dance so I give them kudos for that.

6.  Marie and Jonathan danced a Pasa Doble.  Marie wanted to be the bull.  She was funny and Jonathan did his best to ‘dance around’ her.  It was a very demanding dance and she did OK…not great.  I see Bottom 2 here.  By the way, the music was really awful.  Bruno said she started out as Catherine Zeta Jones and wound up as Catherine Zeta Crappy!

Judges:  8-8-7 for a total of:  23

7.  Helio and Julianne danced a Cha Cha and were very enjoyable to watch.  Love the Helio smile and he kept up with Julianne step for step. Super music too.  Judges liked it too:  9-10-9 for a total of:  28

(Helio was beside himself cause he got a 10!!)

Then the whole group did a rock and roll dance which they only had one day to rehearse.  WOW, were they all great!!!!  Hard steps and lifts and flips, etc.  Awesome job.

OK, who’s going home tomorrow night?  My money is on either Jane or Marie.  We’ll have to wait and see how the fans voted.

Dancing – Results Show – 10/30/07

Tom announced that Jane Seymour has food poisoning and won’t be on the show tonight.

Another pretty dress on Samantha….

OK Len – who did you choose to dance again?  Len said they were all terrific last night but his fave was the rock and roll dance which they then performed again.  Tony was funny – out there doing a solo!!!

Tom said there were a couple of firefighters in the audience and gave praise for all the firefighters and their hard work trying to put out those terrible fires in San Diego.  (Update:  latest news is that a child had a book of matches and accidentally started the fires).

Barry Manilow is on tonight.  He sang and Cheryl and Louis (good to see him again) danced.  Barry didn’t sound so good.  I’m thinkin’ he and Wayne Newton should get together and go to the home!!!!

OK, let’s save a few couples:

Mel and Maksim

Jane and Tony ! (whaaaaa????)

In January, Bruno and Carrie Anne have a new series on Fox.  They auditioned thousands for the show which will feature boys and girls who both sing AND dance.  Nick Lachey will be the host(!)  It looks like it will be a blend of AI and So You Think You Can Dance….

More Barry – Botox anyone???  Actually he did a better job with Mandy.

(ABC’s Thursday night lineup this week – looks good!)

Let’s save a few more:

Helio and Julianne

Marie and Jonathan (!)  huh????

Jennie and Derek

This, of course, means that Cameron and Edyta and Sabrina and Mark are in the Bottom 2!!!!!!!  What is wrong with this picture?  Although I do remember Donny commenting on EW earlier tonight that Sabrina is a professional singer and dancer and shouldn’t really be competing.  Maybe people were thinking the same thing….cause guess who went home….

Sabrina and Mark!!!!!  The Judges were shocked.  Even Tom said, “I’ve got to tell you Sabrina that I definitely had you in the Finals!!!!”

Wellll, now what????  Didn’t hear what next week’s dances will be.

Talk to you soon.

Weekend To Do – News – 10/26/07

October 25, 2007

Goodaye Everyone:

I was going to skip my Weekend stuff this weekend as my son started a new job on Monday but I decided to give it a shot.

Hopefully I won’t ‘fade’ while typing! I was up late last night rooting for the Red Sox…who beat the Rockies 13-1!!! What a blowout. Josh Beckett is probably the best pitcher in baseball….

OK, let’s see what I can give you this weekend:

On DVD

A Clockwork Orange (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Mr. Brooks (Kevin Costner)
The Shining (2-Disc Special Edition)
The Tripper (Horror)
Buried Alive (Horror)

I tried to choose “Halloween-themed” movies for you to rent/own!!!
—————————————————————————————–

In Theaters

Things We Lost In The Fire (Starring Halle Berry, Benecio DelToro, David Duchovny) – Drama

Dan In Real Life (comedy) Starring Steve Carrell (from The Office)

Also playing:

Gone Baby Gone (Casey & Ben Affleck)
Rendition (Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly)
We Own The Night (once again, with Joaquin, Mark Wahlberg, R. Duvall)
Michael Clayton (GEORGE!) Just in case you haven’t seen it yet!

Next Week……RUSSELL!!!! American Gangster

TV News

Well, Viva Laughlin lasted 2 episodes! Too bad because it had some great songs. It also had Melanie Griffith whose voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard!

Movie News

Anthony Hopkins will join Benecio Del Toro in The Wolfman – To Be Released on Feb., 13, 2009! He will play Ben’s dad, Lawrence Talbot, Sir John Talbot becomes afflicted with the werewolf curse.

Here’s my Nic Cage story for the week: Darron Aronofsky will direct The Wrestler (Nic will star). It will start filming on Jan. 7th, 2008. Darren is also attached to direct The Fighter, the Micky Ward movie with Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg. Darron will start this movie after he wraps The Wrestler.

Superman News: Screenwriters Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris will not return for the new sequel. They worked alongside Bryan Singer (if you watch the credits on some of the tv shows this season, you will see Bryan’s name!) on this movie as well as X2: XMen United. Warner Bros. is now scrambling to find writers just as the studio is trying to figure out who will play “S” in Justice League. Brandon Routh will probably return in the Superman sequel.

White Jazz – A few days after Chris Pine accepted the Captain Kirk role and opted out of Joe Carnahan’s, White Jazz, George Clooney (!!!) has left the film as well. Joe says not to worry though. They may have someone to sign wh will be truly amazing. It’s a cop movie based on a James Elroy crime novel. (it’ll be interesting to see who Joe means…better than George? I doubt it!)Mark Wahlberg will replace Ryan Gosling in The Lovely Bones. Ryan dropped out because of script conflict. Mark jumped in to play Rachel Weicz’s husband in the Peter Jackson (LOTR) directed movie based on Alice Sebold’s novel. It’s the story of a couple whose world is shattered after their daughter is murdered. The girl watches over her family and killer from heaven. Filming begins shooting this week in PA whre Mark just recently finished making The Happening for FOX. The Fighter will most lifely start filming during the Fall of 2008.
—————————————————————————————-
Not much else going on this week. Horrendous damage to the fires in Orange County, LA area. And now we hear that they were set. Very sad.

No rumors this week. Saw pics of Gisele and Tommy from People. What a hot couple! Looks like Carrie Underwood and Tony Romo are no longer a couple. He was seen with Sophia Bush (from One Tree Hill) and she, with Chace Crawford from the new CW show, Gossip Girl.
——————————————————————————————
OK, everyone have a great weekend. GO RED SOX – beat the Rockies!
And, of course, GO PATS!!!

Talk to you all next week.

(take care Robin Thicke!)

Dancing With The Stars – 10/22/07

October 25, 2007

Goodaye Everyone:

Well, it was quite a week for Dancing!  Samantha’s outfits are beautiful and Tom is being Tom.  Also LOVE Bruno.  He always has a spin on the dancers and what he ‘nicknames’ them.

Monday – The Show – Rumba and Samba – IT’S LATIN WEEK!

First up we had:

Marie and Jonathan who danced a Samba.

Poor Marie Osmond; there were twirls and head spins and splits.  She worked her fanny off.  She’s taken off weight since this started and looks good.  She still ‘rocks’ for 46!  They did a nice job too.  OK, here they come for the judges comments.  Marie is jumping up and down…what’s with that?  Len is talking to them….OH MY GOD, down goes Marie for the count!!!  She’s out cold.  They go to a commercial (like 10 would you believe!).  When they come back she says she’s fine.  Tom said when she opened up her eyes, the first thing she said was, “OH CRAP”!!!  I guess this happens once in a while when she’s stressed and it was hot in the building and she was tired from all the spinning which didn’t help with her equilibrium.  Anyway, she’s fine and the judges gave them:   7-7-7 for a total of:  21    (coulda been higher!)

Then came:

Tony and Jane who danced a rumba.  For 56, this woman has a beautiful body!  She’s so graceful, even when doing a sexy dance.  She does it with style and grace.  Thought it was a little slow though.  Not enough steps for me.  Judges loved it though:  8-9-9 for a total of:  26  (a little high!)

Next was:

Mark and Kym who danced a samba.  Mark knows he’s ‘dance challenged’ but gives it his all.  He also looks terrific.  He said he’s taken off like 35 lbs. since the competition has started.  They did an “I Dream of Jeanie” routine which was cute.  Not great but adequate.

Judges thought the same:  7-7-7 for a total of:  21

Then we had:

Sabrina and Mark who danced a rumba.  WOW!!!!  Are they a hot pair or what????  Did a fantastic job.  You could feel the passion.  This was hard for Sabrina too cause she’s very young and is not used to expressing herself so passionately (in public!).  Judges loved it:  9-9-10 for a total of:

28   (Tom told them they should get a room!!!!)

Next was:

Jennie and Derek who danced a samba.  Jennie is another one who finds it hard showing passion.  She must be very introverted.  She actually seemed uncomfortable with this dance.  Len said there’s more passion at his dentist’s office than what he saw between them.  Not a good night.

Judges gave them:  8-9-8 for a total of:  25 (very generous)

Then we had:

Helio and Julianne who danced a rumba.  (now reading this, I’m confused if it’s this couple or Jennie and Derek who got the dentist comment but both deserved it).  Liked the beach scene but it still didn’t help Helio.  He has a lot of trouble NOT smiling and that’s who he is!  Bad mistake taking that away from him.  Once again,  out of his comfort zone and it showed.  Judges felt the same:  8-7-8 for a total of:  23  (this was fair)

Up next was:

Mel B. and Maksim who danced a samba.  Mel got sick and they had to go to the UK for the Spice Girls video and were run ragged.  Then Max got sick when they got home.  However….they did a very good job I must say.  Not a big Mel fan…as you know, but she and Max did burn up the floor with their samba.  Judges:  10-9-10 for a total of:  29

Last, but not least, came Cameron and Edyta who danced a rumba.  This guy keeps getting better each week.  Boy were they HOT, HOT, HOT!  Even though Carrie Ann caught Cam’s foot off the floor, they still did a terrific job!  Judges:  8-9-9 for a total of:  26  (higher???)

OK, so let’s see where the couples stand:

1.  Mel B and Maksim  -  29

2.  Sabrina and Mark  -  28

3.  Tony and Jane      -  26

4.  Cameron and Edyta – 26

5.  Jennie and Derek    – 25

6.  Helio and Julianne   -  23

7.  Mark and Kym        -  21

8.  Marie and Jonathan -  21

So Week 5 dances are done.  Who do I think is in the bottom 2????

I’m going with Jennie and Derek and Mark and Kym.  Who do I think will go home tomorrow night?  Mark and Kym.

Talk to you tomorrow

—————————————————————————————–

The Results Show – 10/23/07

Of course, they have to do a whole segment on Marie and her fainting.  I bet she wishes they didn’t!  She’s embarrassed by it and just wants to move on.

OK, let’s see who the judges choose to dance again….it’s Mel and Maksim.

The dance was great but she’s just very annoying!!!!  (he certainly knows how to handle her though – they are two primadonnas, that’s for sure!)

Here comes J. Lo. and does she look terrific or what???  She’s definitely expecting but I couldn’t get over her walking up and down those stairs in what looked like 4″ heels!!!  Didn’t care for the song.

People in the audience – comments – coming from Tori Spelling, Heather Mills, Florence Henderson and others.  It was fun.

SAVED:

Sabrina and Mark

Mel and Maksim (oh good…another week of primping and annoyance!)

(By the way, I just heard they canceled Viva Laughlin after just 2 episodes.  Doesn’t really surprise me.  Loved the concept but as soon as Melanie Griffith opens her mouth, it’s like fingernails on a chalkboard!!!)

Commercial for Fred Claus:  The trailer is hysterical!!!  Hey, did you know Kevin Spacey is in it????

Rock and Roll Routine – I’ve seen better on So You Think You Can Dance

Here’s J Lo again.  Another ‘cover up’ outfit!  She had some of the pros dance and they were great.  Better song choice too.  She certainly knows how to entertain.  Heard she took the night off from her tour to perform.

SAVED

Cameron and Edyta

Over to the San Diego fire.  This looks massive.  Over 1/2 a million people could be without homes.  They are going to need a lot of help to put these fires out.

OK, Dancing Stars talk about their day jobs and all the distractions they have to put up with while in this competition.

SAVED

Jennie and Derek !!!!

Mark and Kym are in the bottom 2 (no surprise)

And the final couples:

Tony and Jane – Bottom 2???

Marie and Jonathan – Saved

Helio and Julianne – Saved

Tony and Jane           Mark and Kym      who goes home?????

Mark and Kym – well, when he first started this competition I didn’t think much of Mark Cuban other than the fact that he seemed very arrogant and bullish who had a billion and spent it on whatever he wanted to!  (he got lucky in software I believe).  I’ve certainly changed my outlook on the guy.  He was a lot of fun and certainly gave it his best shot (new hip and all!!!)

Next week:  The couples have to do 2 new dances as well as a group dance.  – Gettin’ tough now!!!

Talk to you later.

Weekend To Do – Rumors/News 10-19-07

October 19, 2007

Goodaye Everyone:

Before I get to my “weekend” stuff. I was wondering how everyoone is enjoying the new shows on the Networks this season?

Journeyman – Yes
Bionic Woman – Yes
Life – Yes
Chuck - Haven’t watched much
Big, Bang Theory – What I’ve seen of it…it’s funny
Private Practice – Yes
Dirty, Sexy Money – Big Yes
Cane – Love It
Dexter and Brotherhood are both still ‘awesome’ on Showtime; as are Weeds and then Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO is having one of it’s best seasons yet! Even the controversial, Tell Me You Love Me, is intriguing.

I know I’ll kill myself in the morning because I’ve forgotten one of the shows but, hey, what can I tell ya!
—————————————————————————————-
OK, let’s see what we can give you for the weekend:

DVDs out this week

The Company (excellent mini series that was on TNT)
The Hoax (Richard Gere)
The Invisible - Thriller
A Mighty Heart – Angie Jolie (definitely an Oscar performance)
The Reaping – Supernatural Thriller
Transformers (Two-Disc Special Edition)

In Theaters

30 Days of Night

Gone Baby Gone (this stars Casey Affleck, who’s on a roll, first with the Assassination of Jesse James and now the star of his brother Ben’s directorial debut. The movie has received rave reviews which makes us here in New England area mighty proud of the hometown boys!!!)
Rendition
Also, continuing this week:

Elizabeth: The Golden Age with Cate Blanchett (I’m seeing this Sunday)
We Own The Night with Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, R. Duvall
Michael Clayton with GEORGE…a slow building movie but it’s got a great ending AND…..it’s GEORGE!)

Movie News

It has just been announced that Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice), Colm Feore (Rome), John Malkevich and others have joined Angelina Jolie in the cast of Clint Eastwood’s, The Changeling. The story takes place in the 1920s and centers around a mother whose son is abducted and then retrieved. She suspects, however that the child returned to her is NOT hers. She must then confront corruption in the LAPD. I’m guessing a winter, 2008 release.

A Nic Cage Story!! Nic will star in The Vanished. It’s a thriller about a father who goes in search of his college-aged American-born Muslim son, who’s missing overseas. First though, Nic will film The Wrestler in Jan. The Vanished starts shooting in April.

Tidbit: The music for IRON MAN will be composed by Ramin Djavadi who has worked with Hans Zimmer (Gladiator) on Batman Begins and Klaus Budelt on Pirates of the Caribbean.

TV News

NBC has just booked a new cop drama (we’re getting to be inundated with these!) called, “Blue Blood” from writer Neil Tolkin and director, Brett Ratner (uh, oh). It is based on Edward Conlon’s memoirs. This will be an ensemble cast about NYPD rookies, one of which who graduated from Harvard. No Release Date as yet

SciFi Channel

Now this one sounds really good… a 3 part, 6 hour mini series called “Tin Man”. It is a twisted look at The Wizard of Oz! It stars Zooey Deschanel (whose sis is on BONES), Alan Cumming (love him!), Neal McDonagh (from Dorchester, MA) and others. It starts on Sunday, Dec. 2, 3, 4

Rumor

Elizabeth Hasselbeck will take her maternity leave earlier than originally expected. She’ll be leaving the View on Oct. 23 to get settled in Phoenix since her hubby, Tim, was traded to the football team the Arizona Cardinals. I’m betting she’ll be back before the Holidays!

No Britney/Lindsey news this week…do we care anymore?

The New England Patriots (undefeated 6-0) will play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

GO RED SOX!!! It’s do or die for this team but we’ve had our backs against the wall before. I love it when one reporter said to Manny Ramirez, “Ya know Manny, if you lose the series and Cleveland goes on to the World Series, it’ll be the first since 1948 to which Manny replied…hey, we had to wait 86 ‘blank’ years to get the World Series Championship!”

Have a great weekend everyone. Stay safe.

(have fun Robin Thicke!)

Dancing With The Stars – 10/17/07

October 17, 2007

Goodaye Everyone:

Sorry I didn’t do a review yesterday but, I have to admit, I’m caught up in the Red Sox frenzy and taped Dancing in the other room while I watched my team go down the tubes!

Anyway, for what it’s worth, here are my thoughts on this week’s performances.

By the way, SAMANTHA’s back…..I miss Drew!!! She looks good though.

First up is Marc Kym who danced a Viennese Waltz. Marc is working really hard each week and he’s definitely improved but he’s still not a ‘dancer’. Judges were very kind: 7-8-7 for a total of: 22

Next we had Sabrina and Mark who did a Pasa Doble. WOW! They are so good. Loved the way she used her skirt, flashing it back and forth. They did a great job. Judges thought so too: 10-10-10 for a total of: 30
FIRST 30 OF THE SEASON…good for them.

Then we had Jane and Tony who danced a Viennese Waltz. This is Jane’s best performance yet; just beautiful. And what’s with Carrie Ann and the lifting of the feet? Gimme a break! I can never say enough about Tony either. He is class personified!!! Judges loved it too: 8-9-9 for a total of: 26 (should have been a 9 Carrie Ann!!!)

Next we had Floyd and Karina who danced a Pasa Doble. Ohhh Floyd, you try sooo hard to dance but you’re just not a dancer (you and Mark Cuban are definitely out of your element on this show). LOVED the jump at the end though. Judges marks reflected as much: 7-8-8 for a total of: 23 (which was pretty decent considering. I had great hopes for Floyd too)

Then we had Mel B. and Maksim who danced the Viennese Waltz
OK, OK, OK so she’s a decent dancer but I just can’t warm up to this gal. She just doesn’t do it for me. I hope she’ll be the next GIRL to go home!
Judges loved it though: 8-9-9 for a total of: 26 (thought it was a little high)

Cameron and Edyta were next up and danced a Pasa Doble to the SUPERMAN THEME! How clever was that! AND, Cameron had a big “C” on his shirt…funny. It was a lot of fun and he did a great job. This was his best performance so far. Hopefully he’ll be staying around for a while. Judges had a good time too: 9-9-9 for a total of: 27 (well deserved)

Then we had Marie and Jonathan who danced a Viennese Waltz. Marie was all serious this week trying to concentrate on her ‘rib cage’! Loved her comments afterwards. She’s so much fun. They did a great job. The lazy stripper tag was funny too. Judges always have a good time with Marie but Carrie Ann was disappointed she wasn’t more of her regular self. They gave her: 9-9-8 for a total of: 26

Next we had Jennie and Derek who danced a Pasa Doble. This gal has a LOT of talent and is dead set on winning this competition. Boy her concentation is too much. Derek is a wonderful partner too. They did an admirable job this week. Judges thought so too: 8-10-9 for a total of:
27….good for them! Love the support she is getting from hubby too.

Last, but not least, we had Helio and Julianne who danced a Viennese Waltz. Julianne really works ya ta death, doesn’t she?? She gets the performance outta ya though!!!! They are such a cute couple.
Judges liked them too: 9-9-9 for a total of: 27

Sooooo, let’s see where we stand after all the performances:

Sabrina and Marc with a 30

3 tied with a 27

Cameron and Edyta
Helio and Julianne
Jennie and Derek

With a 26, we had

Marie and Jonathan
Mel B. and Maksim
Jane and Tony

Floyd and Karina – 23

Marc and Kym – 22

Who will go home???? I’m guessing that it is obvious that it will be either Marc or Floyd…we’ll see.
——————————————————————————————
RESULTS SHOW:

Lots of stuff gonna happen tonight. I’m VERY excited because Wade Robson is going to dance on stage for us (with his troupe). He’s gotta be one of the best choreographers I’ve seen. He does a great job on So You Think You Can Dance. We’re also going to have surprises..can’t wait.

OK, Judges choose who to dance again and, first surprise of the night, it is Cameron and Edyta doing their SUPERMAN routine. Just as good the second time around!

The band singers were up next. How good are they??!! They did a Gloria Estafan number since she couldn’t be there. I heard her mom is sick

First 2 Saved:

Cameron and Edyta
Sabrina and Mark

Now we have Jimmy Kimmel and Guiermo(?) doing a ‘tanning’ scene!
Funny….

Here comes Wade: How cool is he???? He and his troupe did a kinda circus number and it was awesome. Didn’t want it to end.

(Cleveland 0, Sox 0 bottom of the 4th)

WOWWWW! It’s our buddy Drew and Cheryl doing a dance to Wayne Newton singing(?) Danke shane(?).

Boy, Drew’s still got it. He was terrific. Wish I could say the same for Wayne. I think after that performance, people won’t be rushing to see him in Vegas. Hope he saved his money!!

We then had a lot of ‘partners’ in one form or another, talking about partnership and trust.

Two more up:

Marc and Kym (!) – Saved
Floyd and Karina – Bottom 2

(Cleveland scores 2 – Sox 0)

OK, let’s see the bottom line please:

Helio and Julianne – Saved
Jennie and Derek – Saved
Marie and Jonathan – Saved
Jane and Tony – Saved
Mel B. and Maksim – BOTTOM TWO!

Who did we say Goodbye to this week? Floyd – Loved ya and hope you win your fight in December.

Next week we have Jennifer Lopez to perform.
It will be Samba and Rumba

Talk to you later, Joanie
PS: Cleveland 7, Boston 3 We GOTTA win now.

TV (kinda) NEWS

Looks like our boy Kiefer Sutherland may be going away for at least 48 days (no…not just 24!) after his 4th DUI. Love Keifer but he’s got to take better care of himself. Sentencing on Dec. 21st. The producers of ‘24′ have said that Keifer’s incarceration will not interfere with this season’s plot.

FX has just signed on for a pilot called, Forever Sam Crow. It’s a drama about the world of biker gangs in Northern California. Casting is underway along with the search for a director. FX hopes to get cameras rolling sometime early next year. Story revolves around a 33 year old, Jax Teller, Vice President of a Motorcycle Club. Jax is at a crossroads in his life where he has to make a choice of either being with his ‘blood family’ or his ‘brotherhood family’.

FX has given us such great shows over the years as, Nip/Tuck, The Shield, Rescue Me, Damages, Meet The Riches, that this could (even though it doesn’t sound that intriguing) be another winner for the network!

Speaking of Nip/Tuck: I saw a quick sneak for this season which premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 30th. Oliver Platt will guest star as a doctor on an “ER type” TV show and Sean and Christian will be consultants.

MOVIE NEWS

Eric Bana (the Hulk) has been signed to play the villain Nero in the new J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movie. The studio still needs to cast James T. Kirk. Shooting will start in November. Film should be in theaters on Christmas Day, 2008.

News/Rumors

Jennifer Lopez
is rumored to be pregnant with twins. How wonderful for her.

Nick Nolte, 66, has just welcomed a baby girl with his BFF, Clytie Lane. No name yet. Nick has a son, Brawley from his first marriage, who must be in his 20s by now.

No Nic Cage news this week. Let’s close with this. Just a few comments.
Lindsey Lohan looks wonderful. Let’s hope she stays clean and has a terrific career. Rumor has it she fired her mom as manager; one could only dream. Britney….what can we say that hasn’t already been said. I heard she was in Marina Del Ray today after she asked her lawyers to go to court to try to have the judge give her ’sleepovers’ with her sons. As you can see, she must have either forgot to set the clock or changed her mind cause she was nowhere to be found at the courthouse! And the beat goes on…..

Have a great weekend everyone. Have any of you caught the quick pic of our Robin Thicke on the telephone commercial showing the new cell phone?

Let’s hope both the Sox and the New England Patriots are both winners!

Talk to you next week.

Joanie

Dancing With The Stars – Results Show – 10/09/07

October 10, 2007

Hi Everybody:

Well we found out some ‘kinda’ bad news last night. Drew Lachey is leaving and Samantha Harris will be back next week….bummer! Loved Drew but Tom was saying that Drew, Carrie Ann and Bruno will be on FOX this coming January in a new show. (he said that Len must have pulled the short straw!)

Well of course we started out talking about Monday night’s dances and who the Judges thought we should see again and, happily, it was Jennie and Derek. They certainly improved from the last 2 weeks and she was determined to do a good job this week. Did you catch her hubby in the audience? Handsome actor – Peter Facinelli

OK, let’s save 2 couples:

Jane and Tony
Jennie and Derek

Seal was next and performed his big hit, A Kiss From A Rose. He’s married to supermodel Heidi Klum and has two children together.

Let’s save 2 more couples:

Marie and Jonathan
Mel and Maksim
(guess Max will live another day to show off his chest!)

We then had a performance from Billy Ray Cyrus (from last season) and his daughter Hannah Montana (I forget her real name). I remember years ago when he was struggling (during his Achy Breaky days) and I’m not sure if he was with his daughter’s mom at the time but it’s nice to see that they have a good relationship now.

By the way, that was ‘our boy’ Maksim and Karina dancing along.

Just saw Dylan McDermott in the audience. He’s in the show Big Shots. Remember him from The Practice years ago? Just read that he and his wife, Shiva Rose were divorcing after more than 12 years of marriage. I remember seeing them on the Red Carpet for years…gushing about each other. Too bad. LaLa Land got another nice pair.

OK, here’s Seal again. This time with his own dancers. Reminded me of an old Robert Palmer video.

Did a bit on the Harold Wheeler band. Boy do they work hard. In fact, it looks like it’s not easy at all to put on this show every week.

Commercial for Women’s Murder Club starting this Friday at 9 on ABC
(uh, oh…the Sox are playing on Friday night….I better make sure I have fresh batteries for my remote!)

Let’s save 2 more couples:

Sabrina and Mark
Cameron and Edyta

Sooooo, a guy will definitely go home tonight since all the girls are safe.

Here we go:

Four Couples left:

Helio and Julianne
Mark and Kym
Wayne and Cheryl
Floyd and Karina

Helio – Safe
Mark – Safe

Wayne and Floyd in the bottom 2. IF THEY CHOOSE FLOYD, I’M GONNA BE MIGHTY UPSET!!!

Bye Bye Wayne….America got it right. Luv ya Wayne but you’re no dancer. You’re probably just as happy to go back to your ranch in Vegas with your Arabian horses.

So that’s it for another week. Next week the couples will be dancing either a Pasa Doble or Viennese Waltz.

Talk to you later.

Dancing With The Stars – Week 3 – 10/08/07

October 9, 2007

Goodaye Everyone:

Hope you all had a nice weekend. I watched Deja Vu yesterday with Denzel Washington…terrible movie! I’m sure he’ll ‘kick it up a notch or two’ for November’s American Gangster!!!

OK, I have to admit I was bouncing back and forth last night watching Dancing and the “Evil Empire” playing the Cleveland Indians. I was thrilled that my team, the Boston Red Sox, swept their series with the Angels so now we have to wait for Friday night to take on the Indians in Boston! (cause the Yankees lost 6-4…) It was a very good weekend for the New England people…the Patriots also won their game on Sunday and next will face the Cowboys next Sunday afternoon (wonder if Carrie Underwood will be there since she’s Tony Romo’s BFF!!!!???)

Alrighty, here we go:

This week each couple will dance either the tango or jive.

1. Sabrina and Mark danced the Jive to Shake, Rattle and Roll. – They were terrific. A great way to start the show. She’s got a lot of energy and she is certainly young enough to give us all of those kicks and splits. (I was hurting just watching her!). Judges liked them to: 9-9-9 for a total of: 27 (wonder if they’re going to ‘pump it up’ after last week’s FIVE 21s?)

2. Cameron and Edyta danced a Tango to The Beat Goes On. WOW! what a jump by Cameron to start the dance. They certainly worked hard this past week because they were really, really good. Len and Bruno were fighting cause Len said, “Too much attack and not enough flow”. Bruno thought “Superman” brought it this week. So did I.
Judges: 8-7-8 for a total of: 23 (at least it wasn’t a 21. thought they deserved a little better score than that though).

Cleveland 2 – Yankees 0 (by the way)

3. Mark and Kym danced a Jive to? Mark has just had his hip replaced and it was really giving him a hard time this past week but he struggled thru. I think he put on some different shoes and was a little better. The Judges praised him on his gumption and tenacity. They gave him:
6-7-7 for a total of: 20 (fair score)

Cleveland 4 Yankees 0
– Top of the 2nd

4. Jennie and Derek will dance a Tango to? Enough with the fall from last week please. You could tell she was really upset about it but she found the determination to get out there and do a good job this week and she certainly tried her best. Loved her outfit. What I like about this couple is that Derek lets her do the steps…in other words, HE doesn’t showboat like some of the other Pros do. Let’s see how the Judges feel:
9-8-9 for a total of: 26 (good for them)

5. Mel B. and Maksim (speaking of showboating!) will dance a Jive to Do You Like Good Music? Maksim has GOT to show his bare chest at least once per season. And Mel B. with her animal outfits! I have to admit though that they were good. Judges: 9-9-9 for a total of: 27
(a bit high if you ask me)

Still same score on the ballgame.

6. Wayne and Cheryl danced a Tango? Wayne took Cheryl to his ranch in Las Vegas…can we say ‘gorgeous’!!!! Cheryl said after the dance that it has been a pleasure dancing with Wayne this season. Hmmmmm????
To say this was not good is an understatement. I don’t care what Wayne had on (the gaucho hat, fake ponytail and mustache). He was still awful. Cheryl coulda been dancing with a dummy! Obviously she took up most of the dance floor. Love Wayne but dancing is NOT his talent.
Judges: 6-6-6 for a total of: 18 (VERY generous)

Baseball game is now: Cleveland 4 Yankees 1

7. Floyd and Karina are dancing a Jive. Floyd is now training for his fight in December as well as this gig. He’s adorable and I hope he stays a while. Len told him to buy a good pair of shoes instead of dancing with sneakers. His feet were not pointing enough. They did a good job though. Judges: 7-7-7 for a total of: OH NO! 21

8. Jane and Tony danced a Tango. Jane had us all in tears talking about her mum and how much she would miss her and that she was dedicating this dance to her. Tony went to England with her and was there the whole time. Nice guy. They did a great job with the Tango. Her ‘do’ was cool and the outfit appropos for the dance. Tony was NOT barechested and still looked sexy!!! Judges: 9-9-9 for a total of: 27 (well deserved)

9. Helio and Julianne danced a Jive to Kids in America. Julianne always looks cute as a button and is sooo talented as a choreographer. Helio has the talent and she has the moves to help him along. His foot was bothering him and we all noticed after the dance (which they did flawlessly) that he had blood on his knee and was limping (hmmmm blood on the knee; is that like blood on the SOCK? sorry, too much baseball talk!)
Judges: 8-8-8 for a total of: 24 (thought this coulda been higher)

9. Marie and Jonathan danced a Tango to a cute ditty called: Not While We’re Dancing The Tango. Very well chosen number for her. She looks so good for 46. They teased her about her tummy and she said, “Too many babies!!” It was very enjoyable and Jonathan certainly knows how to play up her talents! She’s always fun to watch. Hope she stays for a while. By the way, Donny came to the studio this past week to give her encouragement…and tease her (he’d be a good candidate for next year?)
Judges: 9-8-9 for a total of: 26

Well there you have it. I believe you have 3 couples with a 27.
Jane and Tony Mel B. and Maksim Sabrina and Mark

With a 26, you have: Marie and Jonathan Jenny and Derek

Helio and Julianne with a 24
Cameron and Edyta with a 23
Floyd and Karina with a 21
Mark and Kym with a 20

And…in last place: Wayne and Cheryl with an 18

Makes ya think that Wayne is goin home…but I wouldn’t bet on it.
I’m thinkin’ Mark Cuban….only because, once again, Wayne has a really big fan base!

Talk to you tomorrow.

Weekend To Do – Rumors/News 10/05/07

October 4, 2007

Goodaye Everyone:

It’s like summer here in New England…in the 80s!!! Love it.

Let’s see what we can come up with for the weekend:

Criminal Minds – The Second Season
1408 (Two-Disc Collector’s Edition)
- with John Cusack and Samuel Jackson
Fantastic Four – Rise of the Silver Surfer
Entourage – Season 3, Part 2

In Theaters

The Seeker: The Dark is Rising

The Heartbreak Kid (by the Farrelly Bros. with Ben Stiller)

Grace is Gone (limited)

Michael Clayton (limited)

In The Valley of Elah (you have to look for this one!)

TV NEWS:

HBO has decided NOT to make a couple of Deadwood movies to resolve storylines from the series…too bad. I was looking forward to them.

Dick Wolf (Law & Order fame) and D. J. Caruso (Disturbia fame) are going to tackle a comic book style (think ‘300‘) for a new series based on Johnny Dynamite, the graphic novel character (from Road to Perdition creator, Max Allan Collins.). In the TV series, Dynamite travels to Las Vegas in search of his missing girlfriend only to discover that Satan is there buying and selling souls. No info on which network will scoop it up or when it will come out. (I’m thinking the SciFi channel!)

Eddie Cibrian (who was last seen in that great series, Invasion) will be a guest star on Dirty, Sexy Money (good show). He will play Karen Darling’s very charming third exhusband.

Lorraine Bracco (so wonderful in The Sopranos), is coming to Lifetime in a new series called “Long Island, Confidential“. Allison Elliott plays a Detective who finds that returning to her roots is sometimes not a good thing. Bracco will play her mom.

One more item. Law and Order, Criminal Intent is back on tonight. This year it is on the USA Network (at 10PM). If you miss it, it is repeating on Saturday, Oct. 6th at 11PM.

MOVIE NEWS

Mark Wahlberg is certainly busy these days. He is in We Own The Night coming out shortly, he’s in training for the Micky Ward movie, The Fighter. In fact, he has said recently that he plans on ‘mixing it up’ in the ring so these fights could be very interesting. Brad Pitt will play his brother. Years ago, when Micky was at the beginning of his career, he could not afford a sparring partner so his brother stepped in. Mark has also signed to be in (and, in fact, is shooting) the next M. Night Shyamalan’s movie, The Happening. (Hope it’s good because the last couple of M. Night movies have not fared that well!) I just read this morning that Mark is going to be quite busy the next few years and then plans on toning it down…big time. He wants to concentrate on his family (and golf, I bet!).

Peter Berg, who did a very good job of directing The Kingdom (good movie) except for the cameras jiggling from time to time..has just signed with Universal to develop a drama about the 1973 kidnapping of oil heir, John Paul Getty, III. Getty was taken at age 16. There was a $17M ransom out on him and apparently the family didn’t pay it fast enough because the kidnappers cut off his ear before they got the money. This could be a pretty intense movie too.

“Other News”

Canadian Ice Skaters, Jamie Sale and David Pelletier welcomed a son on October 1st. His name is Jesse and he weighed 7 lbs. and was 19″ long.
Congrats to them…no word on a wedding.

Wellll, we’ve all read it this week. Britney Spears lost custody of her 2 sons to K-Fed. Who, in a million years, would have thought that he would be the better of the 2 parents. Saw Larry King the other night and he had Dr. Drew Pinskey on. Dr. Drew said that Britney needs immediate detox and months of rehab or he fears for her life. He said she is going thru a very deep depression (even though she masks it) and has to get immediate help if she ever wants to get her kids back. All I can say is, Get Better Britney and PLEASE choose your friends CAREFULLY!

Ohhhh, Nic Cage news: He confronted a man prowling around his CA property early Monday morning. He called a Security Guard (who was at his gated place in Newport Beach ) to come over and help. I guess the guy was captured and had one of Nic’s jackets on. He is being held on $50K bail.

That’s about it for now people.

Have a great weekend…GO RED SOX and PATRIOTS!!!!

Talk to you next week, Joanie
(hope you have a great weekend too Robin Thicke!)

The Bucket List

October 4, 2007

Directed by: Rob Reiner
Starring: Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman
Studio: Warner Bros.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bucket List is a film directed by Rob Reiner and stars Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman and Sean Hayes. The film is currently scheduled to be released on December 25, 2007. The story follows two terminally ill men (Nicholson and Freeman) as they escape from a cancer ward and head off on a roadtrip with a wish list of things to do before they die.

Nicholson shaved his head for the role, which explains his bald appearance at the 79th Academy Awards on February 25, 2007.
