SYTYCD Top 6 Perform – 07/30/08

July 31, 2008

Morning Everyone:

I can’t believe this weekend we will be in the month of AUGUST!!!

Well today is the day that the baseball trading ends.  We are all speculating on whether the Sox will trade Manny Ramirez.  That $20M can go a long way; however, he has a NO TRADE clause in his contract so unless he’s happy with whatever package the Sox drums up for him with another team….we’ll be seeing Manny being Manny for the rest of the season.  The Sox got ‘punished’ again last night by the Angels.  They swept us!  Let’s see if the Yankees can do any better with them this weekend…..

OK, let’s talk SYTYCD.  Cat looks hot again tonight.  She has on a strapless metallic ‘chemise’ style dress with the ‘Farah Fawcett’ hair.  Ohhh, look at those heels!  They have bows on the back of them.  Very cool.

It’s one week away from the Season Finale.  Maybe it’s just me but it seems that this Season went by too fast.  It’s probably because AI starts in January and goes until May!!!

ADAM SHAMKIN is back.  Love him.  And Mary looks quite sparkly tonight too….it’s not just the TEETH….the dress is eyecatching also!

OK, again tonight, we have two dances for each couple and a Solo.

First up will be Mark and Courtney will dance a Viennese Waltz choreographed by guest choreographer, Jason…  They are dancing to our own David Cook’s Time of My Life.  How cool is that!!!!???  Nice moves, lifts, flows well but it just didn’t do much for me.  Thought it was slow.

Adam:  It was good for you.  The rise and fall moves were the best of all.

Mary:  Brilliant choreography.  Lifts effortless.  Mark: You’ve grown week after week.

Nigel:  WOW factor?  Yes – It was romantic.  You two started the evening off really well.

Solo:  Chelsie – Beautiful legs, gorgeous girl, great moves.

Solo:  Twitch – Looks like he’s doing an Urkel impression with the glasses and braces.  Terrific moves.  Very enjoyable.

This is funny.  After he finishes his solor, Cat asks to put on his glasses.  THEN, the Jidges ask her to put on the braces and she says, “Sure, why not.  Give me those teeth Twitch, spit and all.”  AND she puts them in her mouth.  What a trouper!!!

Next couple to dance will be Katee and Joshua who will tackle a Contemporary routine choreographed by Tyce.  This will be a story of Romeo and Juliet…first they love each other than torn apart.  The song is All By Myself by Celine Dion.  – There aren’t enough words to say about this dance.  They are just sheer perfection and I put my pen down and marvelled at their moves.  EXCELLENT

Adam:  Tyce – what a routine!  Quick story.  Tyce and I met at the 1990 Oscars when we were chosen to dance by Paula Abdul who choreographed it that year.  AND she’s here in the audience tonight. (MY comment…she would be great on THIS show.  I think she’d have more to contribute than AI…just my opinion).  -  OK, you two are the most exciting dancers to grace this stage EVER.  AWESOME.

Mary:  It was so filled with passion, leaps, catches. I agree.  Best Ever!

Nigel:  Beautiful routine.  Josh:  You amaze me because you have had NO classical training but yet you come on that stage every week and blow us away!  It’s also great that you’re paired together tonight.  FINALS!!!!

We then have Twitch and Chelsie perform a Mambo routine choreographed by Tony and Melanie.  The black and white outfit that Twitch has on is ‘quiet’ however, the RED DRESS that Chelsie is wearing is extremely HOT!  It was terrific.  Lots of energy, fun moves.

Adam:  Chelsie:  YOU ARE ON FIRE!  Twitch: You tried to keep up with her.  You could have sold it a little more.  It was very entertaining though.

Mary:  Great routine.  The Mambo ‘2′ is so much harder than the regular dance and to think you two only had 5 1/2 hours to learn it just staggers the mind.  Chelsie:  You are fabulous; the Latin style is made for you.

Nigel:  They made Twitch look good; however I LOVED the red dress that you have on Chelsie.  It really shows off your legs.  It helped make the routine sparkle.  Twitch kinda lost it a little but it was overall GOOD.

Solo:  Katee – This gal is goin to the finals!!!

Ya know…Cat is so cool.  She has a kind word for each dancer as they finish their solo (love how she calls them ‘Sunshine’!).  I’ve really learned to like her a lot this season.  More so than say, Samantha Harris on DWTS!  By the way, I heard that ABC will be announcing the new crop of dancers on Monday, Aug. 25th on Good Morning America!

Oh boy…the Sox are getting creamed by the LA Angels – 8 to 2.

Solo:  Joshua – WOW – Finals for sure

OK, let’s do the Second Round

First up is Mark and Courtney who will do a Jazz routine choreographed by Sonja.  This should be cool cause she’s really ‘out there’ which is great for Mark!  They are dancing to: The Carden by Mirah…love the song.  Mark is definitely terrific in this type of dance.  It is quirky, different but good.  Liked it.

Adam:  That was ‘SICK’!!!  Sonja is soooo exciting to have here.  Love you two.  You’re unbelievable.

Mary:  WHOA!!!  Crazy, raw, weirdest fight scene I’ve ever seen.  I luved it!!!!

Nigel:  I agree.  Mark: you are unique.  Courtney:  You carried it off.  I felt it was a Highlight of the night.

Oh boy…top of the 8th and the Sox are down 8-2 with the bases loaded. (we DID get out of it though)

Next up is Joshua and Katee who will do a Pasa Doble routine choreographed by(?).  The song is from the soundtrack of LA Reve.

Another GREAT ROUTINE.  What more can you say….

Adam:  Josh: You are BRILLIANT.  Katee:  I can’t wait for you to see yourself on TV.  You will be very pleased.

Mary: Katee and Joshua – That was true magic.  That’s what it’s all about.  (then she gives a BIG SCREAM!)

Nigel: (eyes popping out of his head!)  Jason (the choreographer who is from Australia…OK) where this is the #1 show.  I can see why.  Josh:  keep dancing like this and you’ll be the WINNER!  Courtney:  Excellent

Solo:  Mark – Excellent job but I think just a notch lower than Josh and Twitch.

Solo:  Courtney – Beautiful dancer.  Can’t decide if she or Chelsie will go home tomorrow night.

The last dance of the night is a Hip/Hop routine danced by Twitch and Chelsie and choreographed by Nap/Tab.  They are playing competing Musical Conductors who are both insane!  WOW!  Another great routine.  LOVED IT!  Very different…very entertaining.

Adam:  Loved the routine.  Just Loved It!

Mary:  Twitch – you were in your element and did a stellar job.  Chelsie – you kept up with Twitch every step of the way.  It was unbelievable.

Nigel:  You know, this show is all about entertaining people.  Even if you don’t like dancing…it will still get to you!  You two could be in the Top 4 after that dance.

So there you have it….one week from the Finale.  Who will go home tomorrow night?????  I’m thinking Mark and Courtney  (I love them both but it’s down to crunch time!)

Talk to you tomorrow.  Joanie

SYTYCD Results Show – 07/24/08

July 29, 2008

Morning Everyone:

Hope you had a good weekend.  The Sox managed to take one game out of three from the Yankees so it wasn’t a total loss!

Last Thursday night we had one of the biggest ‘upsets’ in Reality TV since Michael Johns got bounced from AI.  The American public just isn’t thinking, I swear!!!

OK, let’s get started.

Cat looks very nice again tonight in a white halter style dress, almost Greek style, hair is up, and the heels are HIGH..as usual!

We have the Top 8 Dancers and there will be one boy and one girl going home tonight….is it just me or is this season going very fast?

The Top 8 perform “Common Sung” dance.  Looks like they have comic book style costumes on.  Robotic steps – new choreographer??

Cat comes to center stage and is going to call each dancer up one by one….

1st Dancer up is Katee…..SAFE

2nd Dancer up is Will….Bottom 2  (WHAAAAA????)

3rd Dancer up is Comfort….Bottom 2

4th Dancer up is Mark…SAFE (WHAAAAAA???)

5th Dancer up is Chelsea….SAFE

6th Dancer up is Twitch….Bottom 2 (WHAAAA???)

7th Dancer up is Joshua….SAFE

8th Dancer up is Courtney….Bottom 2

So you have Will, Twitch, Comfort and Courtney who will all do a Solo (just for fun cause America has lost it’s mind!!!!).

Now we have more filler.  A ballet number from visiters…LA Ballet.  They dance to THE MAN I LOVE.  Beautiful number…love the song.

OK, let’s do the solos.

Comfort – pop, hip, hop, etc.  OK

Will – this kid is soooo good

Courtney – excellent moves…she’s a sweet kid

Twitch -WOW! – good poppin’ moves

We now have a guest LL COOL J, singing(?) his new single, BABY.

OK…enough said.  Cool should stick to movies…just my opinion.

OK America…who did you choose to go home this week??

Courtney or Comfort – COMFORT (that was a correct choice)

Twitch or Will (who Nigel said, “Neither one of these dancers should be in the Bottom 2!”) – WILL….whattt???  Are the fans not seeing what the Jidges and some of us see????  What is wrong?  I thought for sure it would be Mark and NOT Will or Twitch.

So now we are down to 6 Dancers.

Here’s a thought…I wonder if we’ll see Debbie Allen next week now that Will has gone home????  And….don’t think for a minute that a talent like Will won’t have jobs galore waiting for him.

Talk to you later in the week.  Joanie

SYTYCD Top 8 Perform 07/23/08

July 24, 2008

Morning Everyone:

I wonder if you are getting the torrential downpours, thunderstorms, lightning (and even a tornado watch!) where you are?  This has got to be the weirdest summer ever here in New England!!!!

Well first of all, let me say that this show could EASILY be cut back to 90 minutes at this point.  Too much gabbing and killing time..FILLER!

Cat looks very nice in a black dress.  However, it’s cut up to her thighs and halfway down her back!  She looks good tonight though..high heels!

The boys get to choose a different partner tonight and, once again, each couple will dance twice and each dancer will perform a Solo.

We have another guest “Jidge” this week.  It’s Toni Basil (remember her cheerleader music video “Mickey” on MTV in the 80s????).  She’s been pretty busy choreographing Bette Midler’s performance in Vegas and Tina Turner’s tour…

OK, first up is Will who picked Courtney (yes) out of a hat.  They will be dancing a Hip Hop and Samba numbers.  First up will be the Samba choreographed by Jean Marc.  Will says, “Boy these guys are FAST.  Really hard rolls and steps.”  They are wearing very sexy outfits!  He’s in black and she’s got a yellow costume with lots and lots of fringe.  The beat of the music is perfect for them.  They do all the steps correctly and the moves are very good.  Good matchup.  Courtney:  nice legs!

Nigel:  Tonight is going to be a very enjoyable one and I’m willing to bet each dance will be terrific.  As witnessed by this first one.  Will:  When you went for the technique, you lost a little of the hip action.  You have good chemistry together though.  It was a lot of fun.  Good Job.

Mary:  You have 2 contemporary dancers who became 2 Samba dancers out there tonight!  It was terrific.

Toni:  It was a lot of fun!  I forgot to take notes I got caught up in the dance.

SOLO:  Comfort – she did a really good job tonight.

2.  Twitch chose Katee (lucky him) for his partner tonight.  They will dance a Contemporary number and a Broadway routine.  These two knew each before the show and can’t believe they’re dancing together tonight!  OK, the theme of this dance is that (Contemp) they are a couple who are breaking up but she doesn’t want to let him go.  She becomes psycho!  Oh boy….they are dancing to Duffy’s MERCY, great number.  They are using a door frame as a prop and it works beautifully.  This couple is terrific.  The moves, lifts, etc. are spot on.  Another great couple tonight.

Nigel:  Your performance was fantastic.  Twitch: “I’ve been there with a girl who doesn’t want to leave (Mary!…just fooling)!”  You both danced it brilliantly.

Mary:  You are 2 of the best dancers we’ve seen on this show.  Fun routine….SCREAMING!!!

Toni:  Once again, I forgot to take notes you were both so good. Mia: You are the Queen of the Contemporary dance and I’d love to work with you!  This is another cool couple.  Loved it.

SOLO:  Will – OMG….he’s doing a James Brown impersonation of his song, GET UP OFFA THAT THING!!!!  It is soooo brilliant.  The Jidges are standing afterwards.  I want MORE!

Next we have Mark who picks Comfort out of the hat.  They will be dancing to a Foxtrot and a Hip Hop.  The Hip Hop will come first.  They play bad kids in school.  She more than him.  It was good.  Mark kept up with Comfort (cause this is HER thing).  Good job.  By the way, Mark showed us that the note he was writing at his desk said, “I WILL NOT BE IN THE BOTTOM….”

Nigel: Comfort: you were incredible.  Mark:  you got it together tonight.  Loved the pickup, back somersault roll in the end.

Mary:  You two did a great job.  Comfort:  You were hittin’ it tonight.

Mark: Great job.  You showed us you could do it.

Toni:  Nap/Tab did a wonderful job choreographing this number.  It was a tough dance.

SOLO:  Katee – She’s brilliant!

Next we have Joshua who chose Chelsea (pretty blonde Chelsea) to dance an Argentinian Tango and a Disco.  The Tango is up first and who is choreographing it by DIMITRI!!!  How hot is he???!!!

Like the outfits on them.  She’s got a lot of blue fringe goin on.  It was a very sexy routine.  She looks comfortable in this type of dance; he does not but does a wonderful job anyway.  Like the ending…nice job.

Nigel:  This is the most technique we’ve seen so far.  Chelsea: great leg moves.  Josh:  You DO have the bigges butt on the show!  Loved the choreography.  Such chemistry between you two.

Mary:  The tango translated well.  Chelsea: you were much more sexy this time around than earlier in the season when you danced this number before.   Good couple.  Hot Tamale Train!!!!

Toni:  OK, Toni (now she’s starting to remind me of Paula so I’ll just ‘wrap up’ her thoughts).  She liked them…

SOLO:  Mark – WOW!  Second Best so far for me.

Let’s start the Second Round of Dances:

Courtney and Will do a ’slow’ hip hop that Nap/Tab choreograph.  It’s the story of a couple who love each other a lot and he dies and then comes back to her as a ghost one more time.  It is very touching and beautifully danced by both.  I really liked this number a LOT!

Nigel:  Nap/Tab:  another terrific routine.  It really effected me a lot.  Reminded me of Moore and Swayze in GHOST.  Beautiful.

Mary: (kinda tearyeyed) – These two are tremendous dancers.  I had high expectations for you both.  Did you meet them? YOU BLEW ME AWAY!  — Screaming again!

Toni: Blah, blah, blah.  She liked them.

SOLO:  Chelsea – Good for her.  Today is her birthday..she’s 19!!

Now we have Katee and Twitch who will dance a Tyce choreographed routine for Broadway – Sweet Georgia Brown – they were awesome!

Nigel:  LOVED the routine.  You can see them on Broadway doing this.

Twitch:  You are probably the least trained of all the dancers we have left and yet you’re hangin’ in there!  Katee:  Brilliant.  LOVED IT ALL.

Mary:  Screaming…terrific.  You pulled it off!

Toni:  Liked it.

Nigel says that this has been a great night of dances!!!!

SOLO:  Joshua – I want MORE…he’s so good.

SOLO:  Courtney:  Beautiful moves – excellent dancer.

SOLO:  Twitch:  I want more of him too.

Now we have Comfort and Mark dance a Foxtrot choreographed by Jean Marc.  It’s a nice routine.  Didn’t excite me but they certainly held it together.

Nigel:  Didn’t care for this routine too much….liked the Hip Hop one though.  Sorry; it was just too amateurish for me.

Mary:  Sorry – wasn’t melting together for me either.

Toni: You could tell you were counting the steps.  not so good.

BUT the Hip Hop routine was great….

Last couple to take the floor will be Joshua and Chelsea who will dance a Disco number choreographed by Donina(?) Sanchez.  This has lots and lots of lifts and you have to be very strong (Josh) to carry them off and boy did he ever.  Chelsea had to have a lot of faith in him that he wouldn’t drop her.  Very exciting dance.  Nice way to end the evening.

Nigel:  You two…Josh:  You’re sooo strong!  The lifts were great.  Chelsea:  You had to have a lot of courage to have him do that!

Mary: Really good for me.  Out of sight!

Toni:  Josh – For someone who never did disco before, you were terrific.  A little lacking in some of the moves but that’s fine.  You two picked up the spirit of disco.  Chelsea:  You have the lines girl.

You both pulled it off!

Well, we had lots and lots of great dances tonight.  Still liked Will’s solo the best though.

We have to send two home on Thursday…who will it be…?  I’m guessing it’s gonna be Comfort and Mark only because they are ALLLL so good.

I have off tomorrow so I will be doing my Results Show on Monday!

Talk to you then.  Joanie

SYTYCD – Results Show – 07/17/08

July 18, 2008

Morning Everyone:

It’s gonna be another HOT weekend on the East Coast I think.  We may even hit 100 degrees here in the Boston area!

OK, let’s get started.  Cat has a teal colored dress on tonight..length is to her knees.  The hair is pulled back in a ponytail.  She looks lovely as usual.  She should probably dress down a little on Results night.  Don’t you think?

The show opens up with a Bollywood routine from the Top 10.  They are all terrific and I love the type of dance.  Lots of fun and fast moves..all in sync with each other.

Cat informed us that the Emmy nominations came out today and the show was nominated for a bunch including 3 in Choreography Routines.  (I read them yesterday…one was Hok and someone doing the bird dance?)  Anyway, CONGRATS to Wade Robson, Mandy Moore and Mia Michaels….

Cat says, “Let’s do a ‘recap’ of last night’s dances.”  After we dissect the routines, she calls the girls to the floor and they do a Mia Michaels’ routine.  It is AVE MARIA by Celine Dion and the Top Five girls are fantastic.  It was very moving too.  Poor Mary was all choked up as well as Mia!!!!

After the dance, she then calls all 5 girls to the center stage and starts,

Chelsea (danced with Gev):     You are SAFE

Comfort (danced with Twitch):  You are in the Bottom 2

Katee (danced with Will):          You are SAFE

Courtney (danced with Josh)     You are SAFE

Kherrington (danced with Mark)  You are in the Bottom 2

After a commercial or two we have the Top 5 guys take to the floor.  They are dancing a Krump Routine to the Broadway show “Five Guys Named Moe).  It was very good.  All the guys hung in there and did a great job.  We don’t know who did the choreography for it but whoever it was, it was terrific.  Cat then reveals that it is none other than:  NIGEL

Now that was a surprise!!!!

Again, Cat calls the Top 5 Guys to the center stage:

Joshua (danced with Courtney):    SAFE

Will (danced with Katee):              SAFE

Mark (danced with Kherrington):    Bottom 2

Gev (danced with Chelsea)            SAFE

Twitch (danced with Comfort)         Bottom 2

We then have SOLOS from the 4 dancers.

Cat then asked the Jidges their opinions on the 4 Dancers.

First we have Comfort -

Nigel:  You’re not as tough as everyone thinks.  I was glad that we gave you a second chance.

Mary:  You did a marvelous job.

Lil C:  You have evolved the most of anyone here.  You were a street kid thrown into this mix of learning to dance routines you had never heard of.  Good job.  Keep it up. (WOW….good comments)

Mark:  (I like this kid)

Nigel:  You are quirky, you have great musicality.

Mary:  You lock into the story of the routines and I luv ya.

Lil C:  You are very focussed and always working to be better.

Kherrington

Nigel:  You’ve got a ‘film star’ look about you.  You have a helluva future ahead of you….lots of charisma.

Mary:  We loved you when we chose you for the Top 20.  Now I believe you are a frontrunner.

Lil C:  We don’t hate you Kerr. (she was saying that off stage!) What we give you is constructive criticism so that you will help you improve.

Gev (his solo was sooo good; I could see more of that!)

Nigel:  All 5 guys have character and personality.  Gev, you’re a joy to work with…nice guy.

Mary:  You were a street dancer when we put you in the Top 20 and you have been just tremendous in all the dance routines.

Lil C:  I’m such a fan of yours…and for the little guy! (Lil C is a ‘little’ guy!)  You dance with heart…and YOU DELIVER!!!

So, after all was said and done who will go home tonight????

Girl:   Kherrington over Comfort (see, I told ya this was going to get AmericanIdolish….)

Boy:  Mark over Gev (this was a hard one and could have gone either way!)

So, next week do we have different partners again???? I think so.

Talk to you then.  Have a great weekend.  Joanie

SYTYCD – Top 10 Perform – 07/16/08

July 17, 2008

Goodaye Everyone:

Well here it is Thursday – already.  One more day until the opening of BATMAN - THE DARK KNIGHT!!!!

Some changes starting this week.  The Jidges will give their opinions on the dances BUT it is the FANS who will decide which boy and girl will go home.  (it’s kinda scary now…like AmericanIdolish…if ya know what I mean.  I think it was better having the fans give their opinion and THEN have the Jidges decide; afterall, they are the experts.).  Also, we will see two dances from each couple PLUS each dancer will do a solo.

Now for the other change, the couples have been moved around and now have new partners.  This is to see how versatile they are and how they ‘get along’ with their partner.  Seems like this will be interesting…

Cat doesn’t look her best tonight.  She has a gold dress on that doesn’t fit her well.  Don’t care for the hem.  The hair is pretty though and she’s always so kind and gracious to the kids, she’s a natural to have around.

OK…last week we had Comfort go home.  THEN Jessica said that she couldn’t dance anymore and was dropping out of the competition.

Here comes Jessica now…she said, “I’ve had a pain on my side for a while now and when I went to the doctor’s he said that I have 2 broken ribs and a fractured bone.  He said that I can’t dance for 4 weeks.  So she is going to REST and get ready to go ON TOUR with the group.”

Soooo, since this has happened, what is only fair would be to bring back Comfort (too bad they couldn’t have brought back Kourtni!!!)

The first ‘new’ couple to dance will be:

Courtney (Lacey!) and Joshua – who will do a ‘pop/hip hop’ routine choreographed by Dave Scott.  The story is Bride of Frankenstein and the Doctor!  Josh was GREAT; Courtney really hung in there.  It was fun, sexy, hot – I liked it.

Lil C (new Jidge this week): Dave Scott did a great job on this routine.  Josh – you killed it!  Courtney – you did good.  You made it your own.  This is a good couple….

Mary:  Does this couple have chemistry??? YES they do.  The comedy of the routine was great.  Josh – you’re awesome.  Courtney – you were respectable. Both did a good job.

Nigel:  Josh – great dancing; Courtney – you brought out the character in this dance even though you missed some of the steps and you still did a good job. – Not as good as Josh though.

SOLO:  Chelsea – good energy – entertaining girl.

2.  Kerrington and Mark: will dance a Two Step (country style) choreographed by Ronnie and Brandi.  This is a very HARD dance.  Like the outfits.  Mark always gets into the character of the dance.  I enjoy him a lot.  Kerrington is doing a pretty good job too.

Lil C:  It was FUN – it was hard for you as a ‘new’ couple to tackle a ‘new’ dance on the show.  Their were a few mistakes but a good job.

Mary:  This was one tough number.  It was quick footwork and arm connections.  Mark – you made smooth turns.

Nigel:  This required partners to have faith in each other.  Kerrington – you led and it should have been Mark.  You both didn’t give up though.  It’s not going to win any prizes….

SOLO:  Gev – WOW!  What a surprise he has become.  Great moves.

3.  Comfort and Twitch (should have been Jessica!) – will dance a Smooth Waltz routine choreographed by Hunter Johnson (?) -  It’s just OK for me.  I did like the lift at the end.  Didn’t care for Comfort.

Lil C:  I enjoyed it.  It was like a ‘gumball’ of emotions!  There was no floating though…just OK.

Mary:  Sorry…it didn’t work for me.  No power.

Nigel:  It wasn’t strong enough for a Top 10 dancer.  The lift was majestic though.

SOLO:  Courtney – she grows on me every week.  Excellent job. I’m thinkin’ TOP 4!!

4.  Next new couple will be Katee and Will (now I gotta tell ya – before I even see them dance, they have GOT to be the powerhouse couple!)

They will dance a Broadway routine choreographed by Tyce.  The song is from Guys and Dolls sung by Sam Harris. (I don’t give all the songs and singers cause I don’t know many!!!) – Anyway…as I just said… It couldn’t have been any better!!!

Lil C:  I applaud you Tyce on a terrific routine.  You guys express character and chemistry!

Mary: You two are hopping on the LOVE BOAT tonight!  The characters came full tilt.  Such talent.  Will: You are serious as a rule but this routine showed you have charisma and a light side.  Katee:  Awesome

Nigel:  Terrific.  For a routine that was confined to a small area (boat), you two did wonderful.  You are the most technical dancers we have on the show.  Will: you just showed us your personality and charisma.

THIS IS A TOP COUPLE!

SOLO:  Mark – Ya know..even when he is dancing a solo, Mark is telling us a story – Magnificent dancer…I really hope he stays.

5.  Last ‘new’ couple to dance will be:  Chelsea and Gev – they will dance  a Contemporary routine choreograhed by Sonja (looks like one of the Thompson Twins..a duo from the 80s!).  It’s a story of a couple in love who can’t bear to be apart.    Lots of leaping and jumping.  Not my favorite routine.

Lil C:  It was a routine where you explored your emotions and you committed to it.

Mary: Love how Sonja brought out your chemistry together.  I believed it and thought it was terrific.

Nigel: It reminded me of a sleezy cafe, etc. and you were the only 2 left there.  Gev:  Did you have Courtney in mind when you danced it?  It was HOT!

SOLO:  Comfort – I’ve had enough…..

SOLO:  Twitch – It was very good but, ya know, I liked Mark better…

Here we go with the second round:

1.  Courtney and Josh will dance a Rumba choreographed by Jean Marc.  Song: Hero by Enrique Iglesias (Julio’s kid!).  Boy can these two bring it on.  HOT!  Loved the moves, hips shakin’ etc.

Lil C:  I might need my asthma spray after this one.  When your hands touched each other it was so sexy.  (Courtney says, “He’s a man!”)

It was eloquent.

Mary:  Rumba is hard and it’s hard not to fall off balance.  Joshua:  you stroked the floor like a paintbrush.  Fantastic.

Nigel:  Jean Marc did a great job.  This routine fits your body configuration. (Josh said he’s gotta get ’shirtless’ like Will and Twitch in order to have a shot at the top!!!).  Excellent

SOLO:  Katee – beautiful.  She glides across the floor.

2.  Kerrington and Mark will dance a Jazz routine choreographed by Tyce.  Song is Canned Heat by Jamaroquai(?)  It was fund and sexy.

Lil C:  Good routine – you maintained a balance; nailed the turns. Good

Mary:  I’m not jumpin’ over this one.  I wanted to feel fired up and I didn’t.  I wanted more.  I’m happy but not ecstatic.

Nigel:  A little bit like a dring test – check, check, etc.  Not heart or passion.  Are you going to get votes for this one?  Nope.

SOLO:  Will – What more can we say about this kid!

(Ohhh, QVC is selling Chesapeake Bay Crabcakes…ohhh, they look so good.  Anyone ever ordered them??? I’ve always had good luck with QVC)

3.  Comfort and Twitch will dance a hip hop routine choreographed by ?

It’s a 2008 version of a Studio 54 (60s) version of this dance.  Well, I was impressed – Good steps.  I enjoyed it.

Lil C:  Kinda BUCK!  Twitch: Like Dave Scott routine (OK).  Comfort: this is the best I’ve seen you so far.

Mary:  I felt it was BUCK too! (I feel funny saying that!)  (She’s screaming now)

Nigel:  It didn’t look staged.  Great routine.  Liked the improv. Excellent.

SOLO:  Kerrington – Cute – she should stay!

(Mel Gibson is filming in Boston and was just told by a family that he can NOT use their house in his film!!!!)

4.  Katee and Will are going to dance a Par de deux(?) choreographed by Desmond Richardson and his partner, Dwight.  They will dance to IMAGINE by David Archuleta (cool!!!) – It was very different.  Better for Will than Katee although she had beautiful moves also.  Great Couple!

(Cat has chills…)

Lil C:  Great routine – you 2 did great.  the conviction, fervor…

Mary:  Beautiful song, best choreography of the night.  Exquisite.

Nigel:  Mentioned Desmond & Dwight and what a privilege it was to have them on the show this week.  He agreed with Mary.  Best moves on the show.  There was one mistake which was good because if there wasn’t then you would be perfect and have nowhere to go!  Brilliant Pair!

SOLO:  Joshua – WOOOOWWWWW!!!!

The last couple of the night will be Gev and Chelsea and they will dance a Jive choreographed by Jean Marc.  (I gotta tell ya, this guy and his partner are unbelievable…they gotta be close to 50 and boy can they move across the dance floor!).  It was really hot.  Good Moves – Fun, Fast and Good.

Lil C:  Chelsea – you outstepped Gev.  Gev – what happened?  You gotta pick it up.

Mary:  Terrific job.  Way to end the evening.  Chelsea: You stole the show.  Gev – you did a respectable job.

Nigel:  Good crowd pleaser!  The audience was cheering and clapping.

Chelsea you were outstanding.  Gev – you had the bounce 1/2 of the time.

So there you have it.  Another night of dancing.  Who will go home tomorrow night????  Hard to tell at this point and these kids have their fate in the hands of fans who vote if you’re ‘cute/shirtless/hot’….

I’m hoping it will be Comfort for the girls.

The guy is gonna be sooo hard to choose though.  Will and Joshua will automatically go thru but then you have Twitch, Mark and Gev.  Of the 3 I would choose Twitch but it may be Mark which would be a sin!!!

Talk to you tomorrow.

Over The Weekend – Rumors/News 07-14-08

July 14, 2008

Hi Everyone:

Hope you all had a good weekend….not as good as Angie’s and Brad’s I’m guessin!!!!

The happy couple welcomed Vivienne Marcheline (after her mum) and Knox Leon (??? – I’m waiting with baited breath to hear the explanation for this one!). (Funny…all the gossip papers thought they were going to have 2 girls!) They both weighed in at 5lbs. ea. and we delivered by “C” section.  Brad was with her the whole distance and even cut the imbilical cords.  The Doctor said it was very emotional for him.  Sooo, CONGRATS on your two new additions.  Many happy moments.

OK, let’s see what’s out on DVD this week:

The Bank Job – Thriller – starring Jason Stratham (based on a true story)

College Road Trip (comedy?)

Shutter (horrot, thriller)

Step Up 2 the Streets (drama, musical, romance)

In Theaters

Hellboy 2 (great reviews)

Journey to the Center of the Earth

This coming weekend finds:

BATMAN:  The Dark Knight (can not wait to see this!!!!)

Mamma Mia (musical based on the play starring Meryl Streep)

Let’s do some TV News:

CRASH premieres on Oct. 17 on STARZ (based on the movie)

Chris Corham has been signed to star in a new series for CBS (midseason) called “Harper’s Island”.  It’s a serialized horror series about a group of people who meet on an island off the Seattle coast for a destination wedding.  Gorham will play the groom-to-be whose name is Henry – his name on Ugly Betty!!!  (he’s leaving Betty by the way)

AFTRA members have ratified a new 3 year contract in spite of pressure from SAG members.  (good new for tv viewers!)

OK, this weekend I watched:

2 episodes of BABY BORROWERS which is based on five teenage couples who ‘think’ they are ready to have a baby.  It certainly opened up their eyes into what goes into being a ‘grown up’!!!  This will go on for a few weeks because next week they will take on toddlers, then go to preteens, teens and then ‘old’ people!  I wish this was on last year.  It may have opened the eyes of a few of the Gloucester girls!  I suggest all you parents out there — WATCH THIS WITH YOUR TEENAGERS!

I also watched a few movies:

BECOMING JANE with Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy.  Another Jane Austin movie which delves into Jane’s live BEFORE her novels became famous. – It’s on STARZ

THE EX – now I had no idea what this was going to be like but thought I’d give it a shot anyway.  Turns out, it was a really FUNNY comedy which starrred Zach Braff (Scrubs) Jason Bateman, Mia Farrow, Charles Grodin and a lot of the SNL gang!  Very cleverly written and worth a watch….it’s on SHOWTIME.

So many interviews over the weekend in anticipation of BATMAN this coming weekend.  I believe it was Aaron Eckhart who said, “Heath does such a phenomanal job in his role; I feel it’s better than Tony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs.” (quite a compliment)  Another review I read said that towards the end of the movie, The Joker turns to Batman and says, “We could do this forever.”…..if only…..

TV Shows starting/returning this week:

Mon.  The Closer/Saving Grace – both on TNT

Tue.   The Cleaner (starring Benjamin Bratt) on A&E

Fri.     Monk and Psych return!!!!

Sun.   Generation Kill on HBO (started last night – you can get in ON DEMAND anytime).

OK….here’s another one for all of you people out there who like ’something different’…..BBC AMERICA (which I swear by) has a new series starting on Saturday, August 9th at 9PM called PRIMEVAL.  It looks soooo cool.  It’s about a group of ordinary people who form a team to ‘chase’ dinosaurs who have broken thru the hemisphere to reak havoc in the UK!  It will start after the last episode of the season for ROBIN HOOD.

Weekend Grosses:

Hellboy 2 – 35.9M

Hancock – 33M

Journey to the Center of the Earth – 20.6M

WALL-E came in 4th and WANTED 5th

Meet Dave took in a paltry 5.3M.  (Maybe Eddie should give Nic Cage a call and see if they could do a movie together!!!)

Let’s do some Movie News

Kate Hudson has beat off the competition to win the leading role in NINE (musical Broadway to movie).  She will join such heavyweights as Daniel Day Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Dame Judi Dench and Marion Cotillard (where’s Antonio????)

Robert Downey, Jr. (who has just signed on to star in an upcoming SHERLOCK HOLMES movie) is cruising around Hollywood in a ‘thank you’ give from his movie bosses of his HUGE hit, Iron Man!.  They gifted Robert with a $200K Bentley.  (Iron Man has grossed $500M so far worldwide).  Robert was shocked but grateful for the gift.

Ohhh, here’s one – Quentin Tarrantino has just jumped on a jet to fly to France to visit Brad Pitt.  He wants to convince him to star in his latest movie, Inglorious Bastards…a World War II drama.  (hope he’s bringing gifts for the new babies!!!)

OK, let’s just go to news you could probably live without!!!

Nicole and Keith have rejest4d a LOT of money for the first pics of Sunday Rose.  IF they do decide to release a pic of the baby – it will be for FREE.

Wait’ll ya hear this one:  John Cleese (Monty Python) slashed $10M off his ranch in Santa Barbara.  It was on the market for a year at $28M.  (obviously it was scooped up!).  John is going thru a bitter divorce (who knew!?) and has been told to pay $150K a month in temporary maintenance fees for the place…NO MORE!  He says, “It’s going to be very, very expensive but it will be worth every penny!!!!”

BREAKUPS

Drew and Justin – poor Drew.  She just can’t seem to get someone who’ll commit!!!

Michael Bubble and Emily Blunt – they’ve gone together for 3 years.  Too bad.

One last thought before I leave you….MAD MEN will be coming back to AMC on Sunday, July 27th….excellent series…..

Take care and I’ll write again later in the week on SYTYCD.

SYTYCD Results Show – 07/10/08

July 11, 2008

Morning Everyone:

It’s a gorgeous, dry, sunny day here in New England…a Top 10!

Cat is wearing a VERY short black and white # with ruffles on the skirt, strapless and her hair is curled, down and has a huge black cloth flower on one side…and the HEELS…could they be any higher!!!????

The Top 12 dance to NE-YO’s Closer – it was wicked cool.  Love the neon flash stuff on their bodies when the lights go out!  Cleve.  Nap and Tab choreographed it…

The Top 10 will go on tour starting in September.  That’s why this elimination is so important.  These two will be the last one’s cut before we have our 10 dancers!

Cat asked if there was an update on the “Pop Battle” between Robert and Philip.  He said YES, he was able to get in touch with Philip and he said he would be delighted to come on the show and challenge Robert.  So, this is another reason why we all have to tune in to the Season Finale!!!

Alrighty….here we go….Cat calls up the first Two Couples:

1.  Josh and Katee (their first dance was the Waltz which didn’t go over too well.  HOWEVER, their second dance was a Bollywood number which blew the Jidges, audience and fans at home out of the water!!!)

2.  Comfort and Thayne (their first dance was a hip hop routine which should have been perfect for Comfort.  She was disappointing though. Thayne tried real hard.  The second dance was a Contemporary one with a George Michael song.  I thought Thayne  was very good however Comfort really showed her inexperience!)

Results:   Josh and Katee – SAFE      Comfort and Thayne – Bottom 3

Let’s have two more couples step forward:

1.  Jessica and Will  (their first dance was a Contemporary # – it’s supposed to take place in the Garden of Eden and the Jidges loved it.  Their 2nd # was a Quickstep that was not as good.  I enjoyed it however.  The Jidges said it’s a good thing they did so well in Dance 1)

2.  Chelsea and Mark (they’re first # was a tango and it looked good to me…missed it on Wed. night.  They’re 2nd # however, was ’smokin’.  It was a Broadway number, I Am Woman from Smokey Joe’s and it was terrific).

Results:   Will and Jessica – Bottom 3 Chelsea and Mark – SAFE

Let’s call up the last 2 Couples and put them out of their misery!

1.  Courtney and Gev (their first dance was a ChaCha choreographed by ‘hot’ Pasha from last season.  They did a terrific job.   Their 2nd dance was a Jazz # about 2 people ‘lost in the jungle’ – it was cute and the Jidges liked it a lot).

2.  Kerrington and Twitch (their first dance was a Krump which is not one of my favorite dances.  Twitch was good but Kerrington struggled.  Their 2nd # was a Smooth Tango.  This was taken from the Mr. and Mrs. Smith soundtrack.  I thought it was “OK”.  Jidges weren’t impressed)

Results:  Courtney and Gev – SAFE   Kerrington and Twitch – Bottom 3

Comment:  Now, if I’m not mistaken, starting next week the FANS get to choose which boy and girl go home….correct me if I’m wrong please.

Cat introduced 3 dancers from the Alvin Ailey Dance Troupe and they were awesome.  I could see Will fitting in with this group very easily.

By the way, if you go to the EW.com website, they have a review of SYTYCD with a clip of the dancer Mia Michaels was comparing Will to.

Let’s bring the 6 dancers back to do their solos and DANCE FOR THEIR LIVES!!!!

Comfort – nope…think she’ll be going hom

Thayne – ohhh he is soooo good

Jessisa – sweet girl with some nice moves but not exceptional

Will – puhleez….this guy will be in the Finals!

Kerrington – she did a good job

Twitch – another dancer who is wonderful in his genre

I don’t envy the Jidges tonight.  I think the girl will be a no brainer; however how they are going to choose a guy from Thayne, Will or Twitch amazes me!

We now have Kate Perry sing her new single, I Kissed A Girl (I think she’s probably another single from the UK like Lily Allen, Duffy, etc.)

Well the moment is here when we get the results:

Nigel….”Please step forward Kerrington – you’re solo wasn’t that good but each week you manage to give us one good dance so we are going to keep you.”

Jessica – We would love to have to stay with us a while longer.

Which leaves….Comfort….Bye, Bye.

Now to the guys:

Nigel said it was soooo difficult choosing one of the 3 guys.  He said, “If we could have, we would have let 2 girls go home this week and kept all the guys but we can’t.  Will….you are awesome.  Let’s keep Debbie Allen in the audience as long as we can…you are SAFE.  Twitch – your solo was great and you always give us a reason to marvel at you each week…you are SAFE.  Which leaves Thayne.  I have to say that Mia really fought for you Thayne but, in the end, we were all agreed that we have to send you home.  I’m sure that Mia will be calling very shortly!”

So there you have it…Comfort – YES; Thayne – Sadly, going home.

Next week the Top 10 will perform with different partners.  I believe they choose a person from one hat and the dance routine out of another.

NOW the real excitement starts and the cream rises to the top!!!!!

Talk to you next week.   Joanie

SYTYCD Top 12 Couples 07/09/08

July 11, 2008

Hi Everyone:

It’s a lot less humid here in New England today.  Much more comfy!

I got in a little late from my Condo meeting so I missed the first dance of Chelsea and Mark.  But they looked hot when I put the TV on.  What’s with Mia Michaels’ ‘hat’/outfit??  Looks like she’s gonna do a Flashdance routine!

Cat looks lovely as usual  I’ve really warmed up to her this season.

OK, let’s start with Couple #2

2.  Comfort (not feelin’ her lately) and Thayne – they will do a hip hop routine choreographed by Nap/Tab (that’s why they’re not judging tonight!).  They did a good job.  Routine suited Thayne’s ability.  It’s Comfort’s ‘thing’ so she should do well.

Nigel:  Tab/Nap – love the way you do a routine to tell a story and the couple have to play parts.  Thayne – you tried; Comfort – I was disappointed. – You didn’t ‘add’ to the routine.  Sorry.

Mary:  There’s no chemistry between the two of you.  Not connected.

Mia:  A little bit more than good.  The stairs bit was good.  Floor – bad. No connection.  You gotta step up guys.

3.Jessica and Will – will dance a Contemporary routine choreographed by Tyce.  This is no story to speak of…kinda like Adam and Eve in the Garden…it’s an ‘essense’ kinda thing….OK.  Hey..Will’s got no shirt on again tonight…NICE!  He is PERFECT to me.  I’ve got my doubts on this routine though.  Jess’s just OK for me.

Nigel:  Extraordinary piece of work Tyce.  Stunning – Will:  love your lines/strength.  Jess – you tried to keep up.  You two have a connection.

Mary:  WOW!  Amazing.  Will: you are dynamic.  Jess: you stepped up tonight.

Mia:  You completely explored the newness of a routine like this.  It was brilliant Tyce.  It was a perfect moving piece of body art.

(OK…guess I didn’t see what they saw!)

Cat tells us that Sept. 20th the SYTYCD Tour will start.

4.  Courtney and Gev will dance a ChaCha choreographed by Anya and Pasha (from last season!) – WOW! The outfits are hot.  Courtney is so cute (still reminds me of Lacey Schwimmer) Her outfit had gold sparkles and shimmies which you need for this dance.   Gev is Russian as well as Anya and Pasha and this is his kinda dance.  I thought they had nice moves but were a little strained in parts.  It was good though.

Nigel:  You got the message!  Courtney: Congrats! good work

Gev – brilliant – your technique was spot on.  Don’t purse yours lips so much though. – It was fun to watch.

BULLETIN:  Next week is the split up among the couples and Nigel has his doubts that a few of these gals will be able to keep up with new partners!

Mary:  Was it magic?  YES it was.  Great number.  Technique, for me, lost it in parts – not perfect.  You are on the Hot Tamale Train tonight!

Mia:  I think it was fabulosity at it’s best (?)  You are not the best dance couple in this competition but you’re amazing!

5.  Kerrington and Twitch will dance a Krump routine (not thrilled with this type of dance) choreographed by Li’l C.  Oh Boy Twitch!  Great moves.  Kerrington was struggling to keep up with you.  This dance is not her thing.  She tried though.

Nigel:  On paper it looked like it was the equivalent of Busta Rhymes with Miley Cyrus; however, I thought you did a great job.

Mary:  First time on this show that I believed in Krump.  You both did great.

Mia:  It was dirty, etc. (Krump talk)  Twitch:  You are scary dirty!

Kerrington:  You did very well.

FRINGE – FOX – FALL – Catch it!!!!

6. Katee and Joshua – will dance a Viennese Waltz choreographed by Jean Marc. I thought Josh was very good.  Katee – OK.  They danced to the Goo Goo Dolls song from the City of Angels soundtrack. – Concept was a ghost dancing with a girl.  I liked it.

Nigel:  Joshua – it was a little too bouncy for me.  The rest was great.

Katee – you had beautiful movements.

Mary:  Tremendous lifts. The V Waltz steps were not there though.  As a whole, it was OK.

Mia:  I feel the same..just OK.  Katee – you are meant to dance; it is a gift you were given.

OK, so that’s Round One – Let’s move on to Round Two

1.  Chelsea and Mark with dance a Broadway routine choreographed by Tyce.  “I’m A Woman” from the Smokey Joe play.  It  was cute.  I thought Chelsea’s outfit was HOT!  very short to show her legs and practically no sides to it!  Mark – you are so cute!  Good Routine.

Nigel:  Hot routine.  I just came back from seeing Bette Midler in Vegas and she wasn’t as hot as you Chelsea!  Your legs are everywhere.  How tall are you? (which Chelsea replied:  5′ 2″!)  So then Nigel says, “Then 5′ 1″ is all legs!”  Terrific.

Mary:  It was a sultry experience, bluesy.  WOW!  It was all that.

Mia:  It worked.  Good story line.  Mark:  your lack of training is showing.  Chelsea:  I waited to see more…and didn’t. – It was cool though

2.  Comfort and Thayne will dance a Contemporary routine choreographed by Mandy Moore.  Ohhh, it’s George Michael song, A Different Corner.  LOVE Thayne – not so much Comfort.  Difficult moves in this dance.  He did it with ease.

Nigel:  I loved the routine but wanted to see another couple perform it.

I didn’t like it.

Mary:  Sorry – not much better from me.

Mia:  Comfort – you’re ‘faking’ these moves have caught up with you.

You have no technique.  You both lack a connection.

Thayne – You are brilliant – can’t wait to see you with another partner.

3.  Jess and Will will dance a Quickstep choreographed by Tony and Melanie.  WOW!  Excellent steps.  Great moves from Will.  Jess seems to be struggling out there.  It’s Barry Manilow’s song “Bandstand” from the 50s theme, American Bandstand (don’t get me started!!!!).

It was a lot of fun!  Great job Will!

Nigel:  Loved everything about it except it was not a Quickstep!

Mary:  The jacket on you Will is not what you should wear dancing this routine.  It was much too tight.  Jess – ?

Mia:  A bit sad.  You backtracked Jess.  Will – you look tired of carrying her.  You need a new partner.  (harsh words!)

4.  Courtney and Gev will dance a Jazz routine choreographed by Mandy Moore – Story:  couple lost in the jungle.  Much better dance moves.  Enjoyed this performance.  Good job.

Nigel:  Fun-always fun-no substance though.

Mary:  Don’t feel the same Nigel.  I thought you were tearing up that stage.  Gev: you are strong – pickin’ up Courtney was no effort for you. You made it look easy.

Mia:  You two had a great night tonight.  You are one of my top couples

5.  Kerrington and Twitch will dance a Smooth Tango choreographed by Jean Marc – It’s danced to the soundtrack of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (love that movie!).  I thought they had some terrific moves.  Twitch was especially good.  I didn’t want it to stop!

Nigel:  Twitch – It wasn’t an honest number for you.  You weren’t feeling it.  You looked uncomfortable.  Just didn’t work for me.

Mary:  I love the beginning AND the end..it was the middle I didn’t like.

The correct steps weren’t there.

Mia:  What supports steps is personality.  You were both non-committed  It was a little stiff for me. Didn’t feel it.

And….last but not least…..it’s

6. Katee and Josh dancing a Bollywood routine choreographed by two people from India.  (I’ve seen a few Bollywood movies and these routines are a riot!) -

Well, I think they saved the best for LAST cause it was AWESOME!

Nigel:  Who knew?  I love the fact that we are bringing new dances to the show and the choreographers, from India, were terrific.  I hope we see more of this.  It was fantastic – Katee, you look great.  It was a great routine – some of these moves are similar to hip hop moves – tremendous

Mary:  On this stage we have – HEART, SOUL, STARDOM! You got it!

The athleticism of this routine is very hard; the getting up and down!

Katee: I was drawn to you the whole dance!

Josh: Even your hands were perfect!

HOT TAMALE TRAIN!!!!!

Mia:  Katee – you look stunning.  You are awesome to have around.  This type of dance is so much fun.  I love to see a whole bunch of couples do this dance in the Bollywood movies!  Great Routine!

So there you have another night of competition.  Next week the Top 10 will start performing with different partners each week.  This is where it gets VERY tricky!!!  I love this part of the show.

OK, who is going home tonight (Thu.)????  It’s very hard to choose.

Let’s go with Comfort and Thayne – (I think she’ll go; he’ll stay)

Chelsea and Mark (which is kinda not fair cause I didn’t see Dance #1)

Kerrington and Twitch????

And if that’s the case – I don’t have a problem sending Comfort home but how can you pick a guy at this point????

If it indeed is down to Thayne, Twitch and Mark…..I’m guessing that Mark will be the one going home.

We’ll see tonight.  Talk to you tomorrow.  Joanie

Weekend Stuff – 07/08/08

July 8, 2008

Hi Again:

Just a quick review of what I saw/watched over the weekend.

First of all, I must say that the Men’s Finals at Wimbledon was probably one of the most exciting matches I’ve seen in many, many years.  (and I’m a HUGE McEnroe fan!).  Nadal and Federer went 5 hours, 5 sets and what a finish….Rafael finally won his first Wimbledon.  He has now won the French and Wimbledon in the same season.  Hasn’t been done in a long time.  Roger was very gracious too.  Congratulated Raf and stayed on the court longer than he had to.  The two came off and talked to John and poor Roger was beside himself.  John cut the interview short because Roger was beginning to break down.  He has owned this event for 5 seasons now and it must be tough to lose.  Wonderful match to watch!!!!  Congrats to Rafael.

And…I can’t forget…I watched a lot of the Olympic Trials and may I say that I was THRILLED at Dara Torres.  At 41, she’s not only going to Beijing but she’s breaking records right and left.  And don’t even get me started on Michael Phelps….talk about genius in the pool or, as the reporters called it, SHEER MAGIC!!!

I watched The Bucket List yesterday with Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson and Sean Hayes.  Excellent movie.  I enjoyed it very much.

I also watched another movie called First Snow with Guy Pearce (probably best known for being in LA Confidential…another Aussie star).  It was ‘different’ to say the least.  One of those little indie movies.

BURN NOTICE back this coming Thursday night on USA…catch it!

Nicole Kidman had her baby this past weekend.  Name:????

Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban  (not feelin’ it…just my opinion)

What’s with the A Rod/Madonna/Guy Ritchie/Lenny Kravitz, etc. mess goin’ on????  I’m thinkin that Madonna wants to convert A Rod to Kaballah (anything to help his swing this season!).  I DO believe that she and Guy will divorce but my gut feeling is that they are just not getting along.  I think 7 years with Madonna is enough for anyone to take!!!

I read last night that she is going to buy another condo (her 3rd) in the same apartment building she is living in when she comes to Manhattan so that when Guy visits the kids, he has a place to stay.  She wants to settle this as quietly as possible.  With no prenup, Guy could easily walk away with $100M.  Heard she’s worth $600M.!

And…while I’m on a roll here, don’t you think Christie Brinkley could have handled this divorce from Peter Cook a little quieter???  Not good for the kids.

One last thought, I watched The Bachelorette this season (only cause I LOVE to see the guys) and couldn’t believe who DeAnna chose to give her final rose to….the snowboarder dude!!  The only thing I can figure out here is that there is a LOT more behind the scenes stuff that we do NOT get to see.  I thought for sure she would have given Jeremy another chance and, barring that, Jason would have been her second choice.  Stranger things have happened.  I didn’t watch The Final Rose (although I DID tape it).  I’ll do a ‘thought’ later this week.

Talk to you later.   Joanie

SYTYCD Results Show Top 14 – 07/03/08

July 8, 2008

Hi Everyone:

Hope you all had a nice weekend.  I went to Twin Rivers in Lincoln, RI on the 4th and had a fun time…came home broke, but still had a good time.

Sorry this review is getting to you so late.

Here we go….

Cat looks lovely with her hair flipped on one side and a beautiful red dress and could the heels be any higher!!!!???  She’s also got a HUGE gold chain necklace on…

She has the Top 14 come out and dance a broadway number from Cabaret….”Money, Money,  Money”.  They do a terrific job.  Tyce D’Orio did the choreography for the routine.

By the way, Mary looks very pretty in lavendar.

Cat immediately calls out the first Two Couples:

Joshua and Katee

Kerrington and Twitch

Now, unless the public has lost its marbles, these two couples should be SAFE and, indeed, they are…

Cat then calls out the next Three Couples:

Kourtni and Matt

Courtney and Gev

Chelsea and Mark

OK, I’ll go a little deeper with these 3 couples.

Kourtni and Matt first danced to a Hip Hop #.  Nigel didn’t care for it.

Tab/Nap thought it was NOT a hip hop #.  Mary:  Middle of the road.

They’re next # was a Mambo.  (I liked it a lot)  Tab/Nap:  Hot and Cold

Mary:  Kourtni/hot; Matt/Not     Nigel:  Routine should have been better

Therefore…Kourtni and Matt are in the BOTTOM 3

Next up is Courtnery andf Gev

They’re first dance was also a hip hop #.  Tab/Nap:  Said they did great.  Mary:  I’m feeling it…50/50.  Nigel:  It was fun but not hip hop.

They’re next dance was a Broadway routine.  (I also liked this one)  Nap/Tab:  Believable.  Mary:  Dynamic/great/strong.  Nigel:  Thought they were the ‘underdogs’ of the group!

However, the fans didn’t care too much for them…BOTTOM 3.

Chelsea and Mark – SAFE

The last Two Couples to take the stage are:

Comfort and Thayne who first danced to a a Broadway # (West Side Story).  Nap/Tab:  Lovin’ it!  Mary:  Great new partnership.  Nigel:  It needed MORE pentup aggression.  Not impressed.

They then danced to a Smooth Waltz and all the Jidges loved it.

Unfortunately, the fans weren’t impressed….BOTTOM 3

Will and Chelsea….SAFE (natch)

So, while the 3 girls and  3 guys go offstage to prepare for their solos where they, DANCE FOR THEIR LIVES! we are entertained by Bob (from Boston) who was an excellent ‘popper’.  In fact, at the auditions, the Jidges wanted to put him in the Top 20 but he stepped down from the competition.  He was absolutely incredible.  After he did ‘his thing’, Cat was raving about how good he is and the Jidges all stood up and clapped.  Nigel said he was great but didn’t know if he was as good as “Philip”(?).  Cat said, “Why don’t we get in touch with Philip and see if he wants to do a ‘pop off’ with Bob?”  Nigel was hesitant.  He said, “If I do, will you (speaking to Bob) show up??”  (I thought it was a little harsh but I could later see his point).  Bob said he would.  So, as part of the Season Finale we will see Bob and Philip do a ‘oop’ standoff!

We then had the kids dance their solos.

Kourtni – Fine Job

Matt – Good moves (but I dunno)

Courtney – she is soooo good

Gev – WOW!  Poppin galore

Comfort – think she’ll go home tonight

Thayne – Keep him another week anyway.

We then get to hear ONE REPUBLIC while the Jidges contemplate who will ‘leave the building’ tonight.  They’re very good; remind me of COLDPLAY.

OK, here we go:

3 girls – Nigel first says:  “I’ve done 7 seasons of AI and this is my 4th season of this show, and I’ve never been as emotionally involved as I am with these kids.  I must say that this was NOT a unanimous choice.  I was the hold out; however, that being said, KOURTNI, you will be going home tonight.”

3 boys – Nigel:  “This was easier and we were all agreed.  Gev, you will be leaving us tonight.”

So now we’re down to 12 Couples – I can’t wait until they start to switch off and dance with new partners each week.  That’s when you will see the cream rise to the top…as they say.

Talk to you on Thursday, with Wednesday night’s review.

Joanie
