DWTS – Season 7 Finale

November 26, 2008

Hi Everyone:

Sorry I wasn’t able to post my review from Monday night…but I’ll do so now, as well as Tuesday’s results.

OK, Monday night:  The Season Finale – Part One

The 3 couples had a “Samba Smackdown” where they all danced the same dance and each gave their different ‘twist’ on it.

Brooke and Derek first reminisced about which was their best ballroom dance of the season – Quickstep (which they then showed) and then their best Latin routine which was the Paso Doble (which, again they showed us).  I can’t think of any reason why these two won’t win the Disco Ball unless she falls flat on her butt!

Lance and Lacey talk about their best ballroom routine which they think was the Tango (excellent choice – they were sheer perfection with this dance) and their best Latin dance which was the Mambo (also, great choice).  I think I really liked having Lacey on this season because she took chances and was very innovative.  Nice couple.

And the third couple left is Warren and Kym:  They really liked their Viennese Waltz and I can’t blame them.  It was flawless.  The Latin choice was the Paso Doble and I LOVED this dance number because it was so different…they dressed in those black leather coats that I think are so sexy and did a routine like the movie, The Matrix….very good.  Warren’s great personality has certainly moved him along each week.

Tom now gives out the trophy for the Junior winners this year:  Craig and Samantha who then dance the Jive.  Boy does Sam have a personality on her!

That more or less takes care of the recap of the show, now let’s go LIVE and invite the Judges to take their seats for the big competition to see who the winner will be!

The fans count for 50% of the vote and the Judges will be the other 50%.

Len:  I have to say that these 3 couples that we have performing tonight are the best dancers we’ve had of any season.  Can’t wait to see the Samba Smackdown and the Freestyle dance.

We new see each couple rehearsing for their big numbers.

Here’s Brooke and Derek with their Samba routine.  (each couple, by the way, has on yellow costumes – different outfits – but all yellow).  Ohhh, these two are so good.  Theirs hips rotating everywhere lifts galore; they’re just like the Pros!

Lance and Lacey now get their chance to do the Samba.  They have great moves of their own….luvin it.

Warren and Kym show what they can do with the Samba.   Boy, Warren is definitely out to win that Disco Ball.  He’s throwing those hips, and Kym all around.  Very entertaining dance.

I thought all 3 couples were fun to watch.  But, let’s face it, Brooke and Derek were the most polished of the three.

Len:  Great dancing needs great music and I want to thank the band for all their hard work this season.

Warren – you did fantastic but you still have to watch those feet of yours.

Lance:  You have such energy – just need a little more from you.

Brooke – you are sensational; still the one to beat.

Bruno:  Brooke – you are dazzling, sexy.  Derek, you have done a wonderful job this year teaching Brooke all those terrific routines.

Lance – You could be a major contender

Warren – You have no technique but the fans have loved you all season.

Carrie Ann:

Lance – every week you seem to be getting better and better.

Warren – you are the most improved dancer for me this season

Brooke – You bring technique to the stage and are just fantastic.

Judges:

Lance – 9-8-9 = 26

Brooke – 9-9-10 = 28

Warren – 9-7-9 = 25 (Warren wasn’t pleased with Len’s ‘7′)

Next up is the Freestyle dance we’ve all been waiting to see.

Brooke and Derek have chosen to do a Jitterbug and have costumes from the 50s and music from GREASE.  They are just sensational.  They even change costumes midstream during the number.  The lifts are WOW factor and the steps very hard…what can I say????

Bruno:  You are the one we all want (from Grease).  You are beyond belief.  You are one of the best dancers we’ve had on this show.

Carrie Ann:  You have ‘nailed it’ all season.  Yet, tonight was your best ever!

Len:  You had me ‘hot’ under the collar.  The best dance I’ve seen on this show.

Judges:  10-10-10 = 30  (58/60)

Lance and Lacey decide to dance a Hip Hop routine (uh, oh…not thrilled with Hip Hop).  They do a great job though.  Lots of lifts and dance steps.  They did a good job overall.

Carrie Ann:  Loved the beginning and the end but you seemed to lose something in the middle.

Len:  It’s tricky, tricky, tricky (from the song..).  Liked the moves.  It was fun. Thought you both did a good job.

Bruno:  It was youthful, vibrant, exciting.  Very good.

Judges:  9-9-9 = 27 (53/60)

Now we have Warren and Kym who will dance to a Tina Turner song.  They are workin’ it tonight.  Moving all over the place; then halfway thru the song, they also whip the costumes off to reveal even hotter outfits!  He’s definitely out to win this thing!

Len:  You have been entertaining us all season.  I look out into the audience and see everyone smiling when you appear.

Bruno:  I enjoyed the ride Warren

Carrie Ann:  YOU are my favorite of the 3 couples.  You did make a few mistakes though.

Judges:  9-10-9 = 28 (Len made up for the ‘7′!) 53/60

Kym lost an earring while doing her dance and Tom picked it up and said, “This would be Edyta’s whole costume!!!”

So funny….so there you have it.  Tomorrow night will be the big “Reveal”!

DWTS – Season 7 FInale – Part 2 – 11/25/08

Tonight we are on for TWO HOURS!  I can just imagine the fillers for these two hours before they reveal that Brooke and Derek win the Disco Ball!

First we have a recap of last night’s show.  Loved Derek when he and Brooke heard the judges saying that they were the best couple EVER and he just fell over backwards!!

Now we do a skit called, “Where’s Cloris?”  Like we didn’t know something like this was going to happen.  It was funny.

Our first guest to entertain tonight is Alicia Keyes (so talented) who won 2 American Music Awards earlier this week.

More recaps of the past season.

Oh No…here’s Jeffrey Ross and Edyta doing their Quickstep.  They must have been practicing cause he’s not so bad tonight!

Now we have Ted McGinley who will dance the Foxtrot (I forget who his partner was).  He was such a sweet guy.

OK, here we go…Mark and Kim do their Mambo thing with her bootie bouncing all over the place…she still can’t dance.

More recaps from the season.

Ohhh, it’s MAKS and Misty Mae Trainor.  She’s doing better but is still wicked disappointed she couldn’t compete more (I think she’s hinting about coming back next season.  That’s never been done…but why not?)

By the way, is it just me, or does Samantha look like she’s going ‘braless’ tonight???? Just wonderin’

Now let’s watch Rocco and Karina try and do a Samba – all I can say is…he’s a mighty good chef!

Toni and Alex are next.  She can’t dance cause she’s just had a minor operation but she will be going on tour and will be singing as well as dancing.

Oh boy…the highlight of the night…Corky and Cloris trying to do the Tango!  God she is so funny.  Love you Cloris…82 and still got it! – Afterwards, she happened to mention that 75% of Broadway will go dark in January because of the economy.  How sad.

Tony and Susan also dance a Tango.  -  OK, Susan you did your thing, now go back to AMC….Erica.

Mo and Cheryl dance the Salsa – great routine for them.  They were very good.

It’s now time for Jeffrey Ross to ‘roast’ the top 3 contestants.  He was funny and a little toooo inappropriate with Lance but, what can you do.

Now we have Cody and Julianne dance a Jitterbug.  Excellent choice and they are wonderful.  We probably just saw Julianne doing her last routine though.

Oh Boy – we have the Star Wars theme introducing the Top 3!

Warren and Kym have decided on a Hustle for their last dance. – OK, here’s what I like about Warren.  His personality, effort, energy; he’s a helluva nice guy.  Good job on the dance too.

Len:  The public loves you Warren regardless of where you put your feet!

Bruno:  You are one crafty hustler – irresistable!

Carrie Ann:  You make us all want to dance.

Judges:  9-9-9 = 27  80/90

Lance and Lacy decide to do their Jitterbug routine (in honor of his Grandad who is watching in the audience).  It was a fun dance with lots of good moves, in sync (no pun intended) steps and WOW she lifted him!  Great effort but I think they fell a little short tonight.

Bruno:  You have great showmanship.  It was a fine tribute to Swing Era.

Carrie Ann:  Great bur a few struggles but you deserve to be here.

Len:  Lance, two thirds of the season I thought you struggled but the last third you came out smokin’.  You really sparkled the last few weeks.

Judges:  9-9-10 = 28  (81/90)

Last to dance….will probably be our winners…Derek and Brooke who choose to do the Viennese Waltz.  They look enchanting.  I love their costumes and their steps are so flowing across the dance floor.  They are just terrific.  Not much else to say.

Carrie Ann:  You are a STAR!  Every week you’ve come out and danced beautifully.  Derek…great job.

Len:  This was the dance of the season.

Bruno:  Bellisimo!  You are the jewel in the crown.

Judges:   10-10-10 = 30 (88/90)

In the end….it was Brooke and Derek who claimed the Disco Ball. (I turned in at 10:40…missed Miley…oh well)

Brooke became the third lady to win…Kelly and Kristi being the other two.  So it’s 4 guys and 3 ladies.

I loved the fact that Derek won.  He worked very hard all season (some weeks in pain).    Lance and Lacey came in third and Mr. Personality, Warren and Kym came in 2nd.

So that’s it for another season of DWTS….talk to you soon.

Have a great Thanksgiving and wonderful Christmas.

WEEKEND RUMORS and NEWS; NEWS 11/21/08

November 21, 2008

Hi Everyone:

Thought I’d do a little weekend ’stuff’.  Haven’t done this in a long time so let’s see what I come up with.

NEW MOVIES OUT THIS WEEKEND

Quantum of Solace (actually it came out last weekend but it’s Craig/Bond!)

Changeling (OK, this has been out for awhile…saw it while on vacation and boy is it good.  Try and catch it.  Eastwood/Jolie-Pitt – can’t ask for a better duo than this!!

Twilight (the new vampire movie which I’m sure will be a big hit at the box office this weekend) – it stars Robert Pattinson who starred in 2 of the Harry Potter movies as Cedric Diggory…cute kid.

OUT OF DVD THIS WEEK

The Sisterhood of the Pants2

Tropic Thunder (which is Downey’s 2nd big movie of the year!)

24: Redemption (this movie is going to be on Sunday night on FOX)

Fred Claus  Vince Vaughn and Paul Giammatti

The Ron Howard Collection – I can’t believe this is only $27.99.  It’s 4 of Ron’s best movies:  A BEAUTIFUL MIND (which won Best Oscar), CINDERELLA MAN (which should have been a bigger hit than it was), APOLLO 13 and BACKDRAFT – It’s 8 discs in all…quite a buy!  (shop www.amazon.com)

PRIMEVAL – BBC Series (2 seasons – 4 discs) for only $35.00

SHOWS ON CABLE

BIG LOVE is coming back on January 18

HBO has just signed to make a movie on Sam Kinison’s life.  It will be called BROTHER SAM….no release date as yet.

MONK will have one more season; hope they wrap up the story with his dead wife and we find out exactly what happened.

REGULAR TV

MEDIUM will be back in January.  This year they will have 19 episodes instead of the usual 13…

Sad news for fans of PUSHING DAISIES, ELI STONE and DIRTY, SEXY, MONEY.  ABC has just cancelled all 3 shows.  I was a BIG fan of Eli and liked DSM.  Never watched PD….gotta wonder nowadays why the networks don’t give these shows a little more time to catch on.  Look at shows years ago like CHEERS, SEINFELD and even I LOVE LUCY..they all had a few seasons before the ratings went up and we know how popular these shows became.

LIFE ON MARS will go on hiatus after the Dec. 11 episode and return on Jan. 28 (Wed. nite) after LOST….good time slot for them.

GOSSIP/RUMORS

Well…finally – Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and hubby Pete had a baby boy yesterday.  They named him Bronx Mowgli.  He weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 20 1/2″ long.  Seems like we all were preggers for 9 months with this one!  They are BIG fans of Disney…can ya tell!

Julianne Hough will not be coming back next year on DWTS.  She wants to concentrate on her singing..and she does have 2 of those Disco Balls already.

Hugh Jackman has just been named SEXIEST MAN ALIVE – another Aussie!  I wonder when WOLVERINE will be out?  Gotta check out AUSTRALIA (kinda reminds me of Out of Africa….)

Madonna and Guy Ritchie got a ‘quickie’ divorce in London today.  Madonna said, in the court documents, that it was for his unreasonable behavior.  (seems to me she was the one playin’ around with Arod???!!!)  Anyway if there’s no disputs for 6 months and a day..the divorce will be final.  Don’t see that happening though.

Well I guess that’s it for now.  Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

I’ll be back on Tuesday morning with the Final Competition of DWTS.

DWTS Results Show – 11/18/08

November 19, 2008

Hi Everyone:

Well it certainly was a busy night!  Lots and lots of stars and songs and dancing! AND..one couple going home before the Finals next week.

We started out with Aretha Franklin singing CHAIN OF FOOLS.  She’s still terrific and I can understand why wh’es called a “Diva”!  She was joined by some of the Tour Dancers including Louis, Karina and two more dancers.  Aretha will have her first Christmas CD out in a few weeks.

Now the Judges doe a recap of Monday night’s competition.  Some of it is pretty harsh to watch.  No specific dance to be shown again tonight though.

Here’s Leona Lewis singing her big hit, KEEP BLEEDING LOVE.  As you all know, she won the US’s version of AI and Simon is working with her to promote her in the US….so far, so good Simon.  She’s very unusual looking in a good way and has a great voice.  She also has dancers performing in front of her…OMG, it’s Maks!  Love him.  There’s also Karina..wonder if they’re a couple now?  That wouldn’t be a bad move Karina…going from Mario Lopez to Maks…can I ‘dance’ in your shoes for a day?

Now Tom will rank the 4 couples from Monday night’s show.

Cody and Julianne are in 4th place.

Brooke and Derek and Warren and Kym are tied for 2nd place.

AND…drum roll please, Lacey and Lance are in FIRST PLACE with a score of 57 out of 60.  I can’t forget what Len Goodman said to Lance…”It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish!”  Wouldn’t it be something if Lance and Lacey beat out Brooke and Derek??? One can only dream.

Next, Tom asks the Judges to critique the 4 dancers.

Len:  Cody gives 110%

Bruno:  Lance is loaded with creativity.

Carrie Ann:  Warren (besides the flirting that goes on between them) gives the audience what they want.

Len:  Brooke could be the one to beat…

Next we have Julianne Hough singing a song from her new CD.  Well, let me tell you, not only is she a beautiful girl, but she has quite a voice.  I completely enjoyed this number.  I believe that was Lacey with Derek and Mark too.

Here comes John Legend to sing GREENLIGHT from his new CD.  When I first heard him sing a few years ago, I got on line and bought the CD to give to a good friend of mine.  She kinda heard of him but, after listening to his CD, she became a fan.  Not only a great voice on this kid, but he strikes me as humble and just plain nice.

Here comes some ‘filler’ before the big reveal.  The relatives talk about how they are coping while their son, partner, grandson are performing.  OK, we get it.  Sometimes it’s tough (David Charvet coping with 4 kids while Brooke dances!)

Aretha comes back to sing her big song, RESPECT.  Mark Ballas and Kristi Yamaguchi (last year’s Disco Ball winners) dance while she sings.  They are just as good as ever.  They could win again this year if they competed!!!

OK, here we go, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.

First let’s save 2 couples:

1.  Lance and Lacey

2.  Derek and Brooke

They will definitely be in the finals (I’m tellin ya…)

We have:

Warren and Kym

Cody and Julianne

left.  Who will be leaving the dance floor tonight?  Who will compete next week in the Finals??? After the scary music and flashing lights, Tom announces that it is Cody and Julianne who will be going home.

No big surprise when you see who they had to compete against.  Still, Cody should be very proud of himself.  He’s a sweet kid and really likes Julianne.  I think they will keep in touch (afterall, they WILL be going on the Dance Tour later this year).

So there you have it…the 3 couples competing for that lovely Disco Ball will be:  Derek and Brooke   Lance and Lacey   Warren and Kym

Anything can happen next week people…

Have a great rest of the week.

Joanie

DWTS – Week 9 – 11/17/08

November 18, 2008

Good Morning Everyone:

The Top 4 couples will dance twice tonight and they will each receive a ‘lesson’ from the DNCMSTR, Len Goodman.  It’s the Semi-Finals already!

First up to dance is Brooke and Derek who have been the top couple almost every week from the start of the season.  They will perform the Jive.  LOVE the coat on Derek…there’s something about me and long coats that I just can’t get over….Nic Cage in Face/Off comes to mind when he gets off the plane and that coat is flapping…I know, I’m crazy. -  I think they dance the jive very well.  I thought it was entertaining.

Len:  It was a disaster.  I’m surprised at you both.  Brooke, you completely lost it tonight.  Hopefully your next dance will be better…this is the Semi Finals afterall.

Bruno:  You went for the WOW factor and it didn’t work.  Your technique went out the window.

Carrie Ann:  Brooke, you did an illegal lift; you know it and I know it and this late in the competition, I find that a bit disrespectful.  You’re a great dancer.  You just had a bad dance.

Judges:  7-7-7 = 21 (they’ve never scored this low!)

Next up is Cody and Julianne (soooo happy Julianne is back and looking just fine!) – they will dance a Paso Doble.  Love the routine, love the military uniforms and love the dance steps.  Thought they did an excellent job.

Bruno:  Wellll, that was ‘different’.  I’l all for unique routines but this was no paso doble and there was no Spanish style of dancing.  I can’t let it go.

Carrie Ann:  I’ll give you a ‘10′ for determination but I wanted to see more smooth steps.

Len:  It wasn’t good.  You’re stiff and wooden.

Judges:  8-7-7 = 22 (Julianne and Cody said…at least we beat Derek and Brooke!)

Next we have Warren and Kym – Warren’s personality just shines every week.  He’s a very likeable guy.  Tonight they will dance a Mambo.  He looks good.  Dancing certainly whips you into shape!  Looks like he’s taken off some weight since this season started.  Love the feet off the floor.  Whoa, he just threw off his jacket to show those big arms!  Was a little scared when he flipped Kym.  Thought she was going to lose her top!

Carrie Ann:  You know how to bring down the house!  I need a little more content.

Len:  Go with what you know Warren.  You’ve got a great personality.

Bruno:  You get away with murder every week with those flat feet!  You are so entertaining.  BUT, if you get to the finals, you’ve got to pick up those feet off the floor.

Judges:  8-8-8 = 24 (best so far)

Last to dance for this portion of the competition will be Lance and Lacey who will dance a Mambo.  Lance was having problems with the dance and his dad and grand dad came to visit (cause later on he will be dancing the  Jitterbug and his grandpa remembers dancing to it years ago).  Anyway, on to the Mambo.  Good Mambo steps.  LUV this dance.  Good moves, good song.  When they finished, Tom said, “You nailed it!”

Len:  I’ve been tough on you in the past Lance.  It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish and you GOT IT tonight!

Bruno:  This was a semi-final dance!

Carrie Ann:  This was a showstopper….loved it!

Judges:  9-10-9 = 28!  (best so far)

The 2nd Round of dances plus Len’s lessons.

First Len visits Lance and tries to help his ‘pigeon-toed’ feet.  Len shows him how to throw the hip out and the foot goes with it.

Next he visits Cody who needs help in the hip area.  Len shows him some hip action and Cody loves it.

Then he visits Brooke who he thinks has trouble with her legs.  He ties to help her straighten them out.

Last he visit Warren who, as we all know, has flat feet on the dance floor.  Len shows him how to point those toes.

The next dance two of the couples will be doing will be the Salsa so let’s see an International prize winning couple come out and show us how it’s done.  They are great!

Brooke and Derek are the first to try the Salsa.  Love her flirty/fifties like outfit with the shimmy effect.  He looks HOT in a coat!  It was very good.  It was a catchy number with great steps…they certainly redeemed themselves with this dance.

Bruno:  Brooke is back!  Work it!  Shake it!  Special to the letter!

Carrie Ann:  The lifts were difficult, you came back.

Len:  Work to your strength.  Excellent job.

Judges:  9-10-9 = 28  (49 total)

Now let’s see how Cody and Julianne do with their Salsa.  I think he’s learned a lot during this competition.  He’s certainly matured too.  Love the dance, outfits…it was cute!

Carrie Ann:  You made this dance FUN!  It was just a hair lacking in musicality.

Len:  I thought he had a lot of musicality in this number.  You were quite good.  The hip work was there.  You’re a ’strong lad’ to pick her up like that.

Bruno:  Cheeky devil you!  Great fun.  A little loose on the technique.

Judges:  8-8-8 = 24 (total of 46)

We have another Professional couple come out and show us how to do a Jitterbug and boy are they good.  Fast dance steps and they moved along that dance floor flawlessly.  Lots of fun.

So, let’s see how Warren and Kym tackle the Jitterbug.  Like the outfits (a Las Vegas type outfit with the roulette wheel and dealer theme!) – The song is Old Black Magic which fits the outfits too.  You Go Warren!  Boy can he move.  Love this guy.  Great dance.

Len:  The audience loved it and loves you.  You are a joyful person who knows how to ’sell it’!

Bruno:  You have definitely made an impact on us.  However, your feet were everywhere…

Carrie Ann:  LOVED IT!

Judges:  9-8-8 = 25 (total of 49)

The last couple to dance tonight is Lance and Lacey who will try their take on a Jitterbug.  They have Navy uniforms (dedicating the dance to his grand dad) and boy did they do it.  It was an energetic, tough dance with lots of steps.  Liked that Lacey let Lance show how much he’s learned since the competition has started.  He looked great….good job.

AND…he lost his shoe while doing one of the kicks and just kept right on going until the end.  Good For Him!

Bruno:  Brilliant!  Reminded me of a number from the movie, On The Town

Carrie Ann:  I agree…it was magic!

Len:  I salute you.  You had 2 fabulous dances tonight.  Grandpa must be very proud of you.

Judges:  10-9-10 = 29 (for a total of 57 out of 60!!!!!!)

Well, tomorrow night will certainly be a show not to miss.  All kinds of guests, Leona Lewis, John Legend, Aretha Franklin!  WOW!!!  Can’t wait.  As to who will leave the dance floor…it’s anyone’s ballgame now.  But, I suppose if we had to pick one, I’d choose Cody and Julianne.  Love them all but the competition has just gotten too fierce now.

See you tomorrow with the results!  Joanie

DWTS – Week 8/Results – 11-12-08

November 12, 2008

Good morning everyone:

I’m very excited because this is my first ‘post’ of my own.  Usually my son helps me out but, with the birth of his son Alex, his hands are full.

This week the 5 remaining couples had to dance a ballroom number and a latin number.

It’s only 2 weeks from the Finals!!!  I can’t believe it’s gone by so fast.

Ohhh, another thing, each dancer will be ALONE for 15 seconds to do a quick Solo.

First up is Cody and Edyta who will dance a Foxtrot.  I think that Cody misses Julianne a lot.  It’s hard to switch from one partner to another this late in the season.  Coupled with Cody’s ‘lack of attention span’, Edyta has a tough job to teach him two dances.  – They did a decent job.  His shoulders were up, nice posture, good steps.  Edyta loves to throw in those kicks!

Len:  Pleasantly surprised.  Elegant – top notch job.

Bruno: You are a ‘cool dude’.  You’ve grown up a lot since this has started.

Carrie Ann: Loved it.  You are growing each.  Edyta – you had your foot off the ground so I had to take a point off.

Judges:  8-8-8 = 24  (to think C/A could have given them a ‘9′!)

Next we have Brooke and Derek who will dance a Tango.

This girl will definitely be in the finals.  Derek has certainly lucked out this season having her.  He ‘may’ have his own disco ball when all is said and done in a few weeks!  Even though sis has TWO!  Didn’t think this was her best dance but, then again, she can really do no wrong so I’m sure the Judges will like it.

Bruno:  Lust – loved the Argeninian flavor of the dance.  Stunning.

Carrie Ann:  You are the last woman standing here and it was pitch perfect.

Len:  Tonight I saw a lack of steps.  Derek knows what I mean.  Not as good tonight as in the past.  Riddled with mistakes.

Judges:  10-8-10 = 28

Third to dance is Mo and Cheryl who will dance a  Quickstep. He still looks a little stiff to me, not as comfortable as some of the other dancers.  This is a very hard dance to tackle and he did an admirable job but, still, I wasn’t that impressed.

Carrie Ann:  Loved it!  Posture has improved.  Looked refined.

Len:  You’re a good learner.  Footwork was very good tonight.

Bruno:  You kept it going with ‘aplumb’!

Judges:  8-8-8 = 24

Fourth to dance is Lance and Lacey who will dance a Foxtrot.  They are going to try to be conservative this week to try and please Len yet do a little bit to please their fans.  -  I liked it.  Lance reminded me a little of Joey Fatone this week.

Len:  You cleaned up your steps this week.  It was a complete dance.  Overall a job well done.

Bruno:  Classy, butr quirky…great.

Carrie Ann:  Animated – You are a bright light!

Judges:  9-8-8 = 26

(Tom says, “An 8 from Len is like an ‘11′ from Michael Flatley!”

Last to dance in this portion of the show is:  Warren and Kym who will dance a Tango. – Excellent job.  Boy do I love Warren.  His feet are just about off the ground they are so light.    Best couple so far. – They danced to the Peter Gunn theme (from the tv show of many years ago…by the way!)

Bruno:  You are our Secret Agent “Sapp”..you are back!

Carrie Ann:  Love that you have your sparkle back.  You have the connection and you were smooth.

Len:  You are on top tonight.

Judges:  10-9-9 = 28

We will now have the 5 couples perform their second dance.

First up is:  Cody and Edyta who will dance a Mambo.  Cody had good steps, it was a fun dance for him and his solo was ‘insane’!!!  He landed on the Judges’ table.

Carrie Ann:  “A” for effort; “A” for energy.  A little erratic.

Len:  You did two really good dances tonight.  Don’t know what the solo was though!

Bruno:  You had Mambo fever!  I appreciate your effort.

Judges:  8-8-8 = 24  (By the way, Julianne is doing great and, if Cody stays on Julianne will be back as his partner).

Next up is Brooke and Derek who will dance a Mambo.  Brooke decided to do her solo at the beginning of the routine and she was at the Judges’ table swirling those hips away.  Len says later that he knew the feet were in the right place cause the hips surely were!  – As usual, great job.

Len:  How ambitious.  Overall – fantastic.

Bruno:  Sausey – you are a great dancer Brooke.

Carrie Ann:  The solo, the dance, it all worked together.  The posture was a little awkward though.

Judges:  9-9-9 = 27

Next up is Mo and Cheryl who will dance a Paso Doble (this was the ‘team’ dance last week that he was very good in).  Thought they did an adequate job.  Wasn’t blown over.  His solo was just OK.

Bruno:  Loved the twirling cape.  Strong moves – you’re doing well.

Carrie Ann:  Loved the focus you brought to the dance.

Len:  It’s not often I say this, but I DID like the cape moves.

Judges:  8-8-8 = 24

Fourth to perform is Lance and Lacey who will dance a Samba.  Lance is trying very hard tonight.  Liked his solo even though the moves were all over the place.

Carrie Ann: The Samba is hard and your pulled it off.  Solo – your eyes kept looking upward; it was distracting.

Len:  I saw Samba steps but in your solo..there were no Samba steps.  Work on your footwork.

Bruno:  Liked your solo. The Samba is hard and you did well.

Judges:  8-7-9 = 24

The last couple to perform tonight will be Warren and Kym who will dance a Jive.  This guy is simply amazing.  He blows me away every week with the fact that he is so darn light on his feet and can actually keep up with Kym.  I see him in the Finals! – by the way, his solo was the best tonight!

Len:  You epitomize why we’re here.   You have learned so much.  However, your feet were ‘everywhere’!

Bruno:  You are one fun guy!  Even though your feet were flat.

Carrie Ann:  You amaze me; how you keep going!

Judges:  9-8-9 = 26

So there you have the first night of competition.  Tomorrow night Benjie and Lacey will dance a solo, Brad Paisley will be performing with the Macy’s tour group and the winner of the solo for the fans – dance/costumes/pros, will perform.

Tuesday night – Results Show

Well here we are on night 2 of Week 8 and lots going on tonight so let’s start.

First the judges discuss the dances from the previous night and give their thoughts – pro and con.

Len said that they chose Warren and Kym to dance the Tango once again and, in a nutshell, they were wonderful.

Brad Paisley performs and Benjie and Lacey Schwimmer danced.  These two are great and you can see why Benjie one the first season of SYTYCD and then Lacey came in 3rd the following year.  These two are lots of fun.

OK, let’s save two couples.

Warren and Kym and Lance and Lacey

Here we go with some filler.  Dr. Drew talks to the couples.  Actually, it wasn’t too bad.  We got to know them a little better and they found out a little about each other.

OK, we are now going to see the Star Performance - the dance we chose, JIVE, the costumes, the pros – Julianne and Derek and lo and behold! there she is.  WOW!  What a dance.  It’s gotta be the best I’ve seen all season. – They danced to Great Balls of Fire and they were ON FIRE!

Brad Paisley sings another song with the Macy’s group who are going on tour – OMG…it’s Maks!!!  He is choreographing the who whole tour!  Love the new haircut too.

Now there’s more filler

Let’s save another couple:   Brooke and Derek

Which leaves Cody and Edyta and Mo and Cheryl in the Bottom Two.

Who goes home tonight?  Why it’s Mo and Cheryl who will dance out of the building.  Cody will be back to dance with Julianne next week and he better ‘bring it on’.  Cause the four couples that are left are ALL very good!

The “DNCEMSTR” (Len) will be giving them tips next week too.

See you then, Joanie/Grandma

DWTS – Results Show – 10/28/08

November 2, 2008
Morning Everyone:
First of all, I have to say that I’m not as excited with this season’s dancers as in years past.  Of course, the pros are terrific and Lacey Schwimmer is a wonderful addition to the group but the ’stars’ don’t seem to have that much personality.  With the exception of Cloris and Warren.  If Lance would ‘loosen’ up more, like his buddy Joey Fatone, he’d be more fun to watch.  I know he has it in him.  That said, boy have there been a lot of injuries and hospital visits this season and it’s barely half over!!!
OK, tonight we will see hunky Michael Flatley perform a number from his new Celtic Tiger Show, Missy Elliott will perform with the Pussycat Dolls and we will have 2 more ‘kid’ couples dance to see which one will be in the final competition.
Now….they do a recap of Monday night’s competition and then decide to have the group do their Old School Hip Hop dance once again.  It was a lot of fun.  Hard work…..
Time to save two couples:
1.  Lance and Lacey
2.  Cody! (and Julianne) Cody will dance with Edyta next week
Next we have the kids’ competition.
First up is Craig and Samantha who I caught…midway thru their dance but thought it was wonderful.  Boy these kids blow me away with their poise, confidence and ‘grown up’ attitude!
Next is Simon and Lucy who will dance a Samba.  Once again, same thoughts.  These two have only been together for 1 1/2 years and you’d never guess it because they are soooo good.
Winner is:  Craig and Samantha who will go on to the Finals.
Oh boy….people…here come the Pussycat Dolls with Missy Elliott.  Of course, I shouldn’t make fun of these gorgeous girls.  Especially when I know that Robin Antin is the creater of the group…and she is the sister of Jonathan Antin who had the series, Blow Out, a few years back on Bravo…wonder how he’s doing now?  Anyway, you HARDLY see Missy Elliott.  It’s like she breezes thru, does a few lines from the song, and off she goes into the shadows…very strange!
By the way, Julianne’s surgery went very well and she is resting at home.
Next week, there will be two dances and two teams to judge.  Wonder how that will work???
Let’s save another couple:
3.  Warren and Kym
Now we have a ‘tease’ of Michael getting ready to do his dance and how dangerous it is going to be….
More filler…….
OK, here he is:  Michael Flatley as Al Capone dancing his feet off and then jumping out of FLAMES!!!  Boy he is still great.  Boy can those feet move.  Come to think of it, wouldn’t it be something to have a danceoff between Michael and Savion Glover???  Just thinkin about it.
OK, here we go…it’s 9:50 and we have four couples left.
4.  Derek and Brooke              SAFE
5.  Mo and Cheryl                    SAFE
which means people….
6.  Susan and Tony
and
7.  Cloris and Corky
are in the bottom two….which couple will leave the dance floor for good this week????  Cloris says, “I’m NOT leaving!”  Tom says, “Yes you are.  Tonight, in the 6th week of competition, Cloris and Corky, your competition has ended.”  Cloris is wicked funny, thanking the judges and throwing kisses to the crowd.  She tells Tom she’s coming back next week all dressed up in costume, etc.  She said she’ll sit in the audience, she doesn’t care.  After all….what will she do at home???
So there you have another week of DWTS.  Let’s hope they start to pick up the pace and give us some more ‘fun’ moments.
AND…bring Michael Flatley back anytime.  The guy was a real charmer….
Talk to you next week….I’m off to see my new grandson.  Can’t wait.
