American Idol – Results Show 04/28/11

Goodaye Everyone:

This is my laptop working today..let’s hope it doesn’t take me all morning.

Just saw a quick video of William and Kaate on ‘the balcony’.  I think he BLUSHED when he kissed her…how sweet.  All the best to them.  As George Michael (the singer) said, MAY THIS BE THE FIRST BEST DAY OF MANY TO COME….very nice George and I love the song, “You and I” (which you can see on youtube) for William and Kate.

OK, we didn’t come here to talk about ‘the wedding’.  We are talking about one of those results show where you are screaming at the TV…’you gotta be kidding’.

First of all,, let’s start.  Here come the Judges.  JLo is dressed in a red dress and Steve Tyler has a cool hat and scarf on tonight…very rock and roll.

Ryan still with the suit and ‘pouf’ hair.

He said we will be disappoionted with the results tonight…not a good sign.

Ryan says that Steve is on TWO covers of magazines this weeik….ROLLING STONE (which, aswe know, is published by Liv’s BFF’s daddy) and PEOPLE.  Good for you Steve.

Then Ryan says, “Let’s pay tribute to the Royal Wedding”.  and they do some stuff.

Then the Top 6 come out and sing some Carole King songs which are all terrific but, finally, at the end, they sing, “It’s Too Late Baby”…my fave Carole song.

Now we have the Ford Focus Music Video

Let’s have Crystal Bowersox come out with her band and sing, “Ridin With The Radio”.  She looks great and sounds good.  Love the twangy type of sound she’s getting.  She looks comfortable and happy. 

OK, now Ryan has the 6 sitting on the couches so he asks them a few questions.

Casey – If you could sing a duet with anyone, who would it be and what would you sing?  Casey answers that he would love to play with the Jazz great Oscar Peterson (you go there Casey).  He was so talented and I’d just love to play with him.

Lauren ‘ What is the hardest thing being on the show?  She says it is missing her family.  She has some in Alabama and we all know what devastation happened with the tornadoes there.

Scotty Did you ever have a pre Idol job?  He says he worked at a food store and somewhere else I didn’t catch.

James Have you ever played in a band?  He sanswers, Yes a few.  In fact while here, Paul, Stefano, Casey and I have been playing.

Haley Who is your ‘all time’ fave Idol?  She answers, “ADAM…then Siobhhan and Kelly.

OK, now that we have everyone relaxed, let’s get some results….Dim Those Lisghts Please.

Can I have Haley come to center stage.  (by the way, this is all random order)

Now they flashback to her performance of last night and then tell her that she is:   SAFE

I’m not going to do all of Jimmy’s comments cause it’s running late and I haben’t had my breakfast yet…

Now Ryan calls up Lauren…flashback…then he asks her to sit back down.

Casey – same deal….flashback..back to the fouvches

Comeon….

James flashback but in James’ case, Ryan says, “After the vote….Lauren, you are SAFE” 

(by the way, just saw a commercial for SYTYCD….2 hour premiere on Thursday, May 26)

Jacob is next to hit the stage…flashback…his dancing skills are talked about….then back to the  couches

Let’s bring up Lauren Casey and Scotty……after the nation..Here’s Bruno Mars to thoroughly entertain us with a new song called “Nothing At All”(?) which I can relate to cause everyone in the band is kickin back on couches and watcchin TV.  Love Bruno Mars.  He’s probably one of my favorite new artists around today.

So now, here we go, we have Jacob, Scotty and Casey….in my opinion it should be Jacob’s turn to leave the building but….nooooo, the fans deem to make him SAFE

So now it’s just Casey and Scotty….ok then let’s send Scotty back to NC but nooooo, the stupid fans vote Casey off the show.  Whattttt?????  Are they serious?  He has so much talentr.  Oh well.  He’ll be just fine.

Ryan does the flashback of his time here, David Cook sings his song, and then Casey decides to sing, “I Put A Spell On You” and jumps all around the stage, kissing the judges and thanking all the fans for their support.  What a guy.  Luv U Casey….you’ll be back someday.

So now we are down to FIVE….Scotty, James, Jacob and Lauren and Haley.  Still think James has the best shot of winning the chance to sing another crappy song written just for him!

C U all next week…think I’ll go turn on William and Kate and see if I can catch a peek at the gown.

American Idol Top 6 Perform 04/27/11

Morning Everyone

As you can see, I started to do this review last night but was too tired and turned in…so here I am today, ‘bright eyed and bushy tailed’ ready to give you my thoughts from last night.

First of all….let’s talk DWTS for a minute.  I did DVR Tuesday night’s show and was I impressed with the talent.  Pia was sensational.  As Tom said, “How the heck did you get voted off???”  And TNKOTBSB were fantastic.  Coming from Boston area, I have to say how happy it was to see the guys performing again.  If I were younger (a LOT younger), I’d definitely go and see them.  Was not too happy to see Chris and Cheryl go home.  But, then again, Kendra shaked her booty and those votes came flooding in.  Still think that Mark and Chelsey are the best of what’s left.

OK, let’s do some Idol…..the Judges step on to the stage and JLo looks ‘hot’ as usual.  Love the short, metallic gold with black squares(?) on it.  Ryan is letting his hair grow a little.  Looks good.  Hey….there’s CONSTANTINE in the audience.  Love him!

The 6 will sing Carole King songs tonight and they will also sing duets.  Should be fun.  Jimmy has some help this week with Baby Face Edmonds who will give the Idols his opinion on their songs, etc.  He’s quite the guy…very talented.

First up is:

1.  Jacob – first of all…what the heck is he wearing?  I’ve never seen such mismatched clothes.  He will be singing, “Oh No Not My Baby”  This is an obscure Carole King song.  He’s OK.  Still screamy..it has to be more than notes to win this contest.

ST – You shook your tailfeather tonight.  Great character in your voice.

JLo – It was a tricky song and it wasn’t perfect.  But, in the end, you killed it.

Randy – You brought yourself back.  Scatting was incredible.  You’ll be sticking around.

2.  Next is Lauren and she will be singing, “Where You Live” – I like her straight hair tonight.  Well she’s gotta hit those high notes in order to win this thing.  BabyFace and Jimmy told her…have confidence in yourself and go for those high notes cause we know you can do it.  -  She was a little shaky but she went for it and that’s what counts.  Good job.

JLo – Good for you.  I felt you pushing.  You did a great job.

Randy – Extra swagger – you gotta go for it…or else all you will have is a safe and boring song.

ST – You’ve got to conquer your fears.  Keep going for it. 

Ryan notices that she’s crying a little.  She says she’s just happy she tried the high notes even though she didn’t hit them all.

Haley and Casey are going to sing, “I Hear The Earth Move” – Love these two.  Their styles mesh so well.  Fun song.  Love their voices.  And they look so comfortable together.  One of my fave songs by 2 very talented kids.

ST – Hey ‘weird beard’ how much do you love Haley????  It was great.

3.  Now it’s Scotty’s turn and he will be singing, “You’ve Got A Friend”  (uh oh…this could be good….or bad) – This is another great song from Carole.  I don’t think it’s in Scotty’s ‘zone’ however.  Boy he loves that camera!

Randy – The beginning was flawless.  However, you falll off the high notes.

ST – Also, hitting the top of the register..I don’t think you sang better.

JLo – You were reaching for those high notes and it was great to see it.  Love the way you tell a story.

4.  It’s James’s turn now and he will be singing, “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” and he’d like to sing it slow.  Jimmy and BabyFace have other ideas but James has his own plans.  He starts out alone…no accompaniment and he is awesome.  Then he plays his guitar, gets a little louder, rougher and gets a lot of help from background singers and orchestra.  All in all, it was just wonderful…you go James!

ST – you did it again.  I really liked the beginning and wasn’t too crazy when you went into the rock stuff but I got to like it.  by the way, that was the first song that was playing when I had my first kiss…it was in a bowling alley and I ‘scored’!)

JLO – Totally magical.  Star of the Nite.  You have been strong every week.

Randy – tonight you showed us you are a great talent.  Ya know America, he might just win this whole thing!  (at which point Ryan asks James to give Randy a hug…)

Lauren and Scotty sing, “Up on the Roof”  Ryan tries to play up a match and Scotty keeps saying they are no more than brother and sister….  Love this song too but I don’t feel the connection like I did with Casey and Haley.

JLo – It was beautiful.  You both did a good job.

5.  Now let’s hear Casey on his own..he will be singing, “Hydde Ho” which was made popular by one of the greatest groups of all time, “Blood Sweat and Tears’  David Clayton Thomas…what ever happened to him???? – Anyway, Casey is fantastic as usual and so entertaining.  Love this kid.  I see him and James in the Finale…think I’ve said that before.

Randy – You always keep it different.  This was New Orleans’ style singing.  I’m excited every week.

ST -  You found your niche; it was beautifu.  You made my scalp itch.

JLo – The whole thing worked.  Yo should loosen up those legs though.  Next week I want to see some loose legs!

6.  Haley is going to sing ‘Tapestry’ – (hey…there’s Penny Marshall…the Lakers’ aren’t playing here!) – Like her beautiful hair.She’s groovin tonight.  Lookin hot and the voice ain’t bad either.  Not crazy about this song though.  She could have chosen, “It’s Too late Baby” and really grooved out.

ST – I heard God in your voice.

JLo – One of the best voices we’ve got.

Randy – Didn’t like the beginning but then I felt it and you ended well.

To end the show we have Jacob and James who are going to sing, “I’m Into Something Good” – It was fun to see James out sing Jacob on the high notes and his appeal…giving us a little Elvis shake too. 

ST – You wre both having fun.  Where were you goin with it? – Actually you should be voting for JLo’s legs!  (at which point Jennifer looks embarrassed!!!!)

So there you have it.  Who is going home tonight????  Only 6 left – How about Scotty and Lauren in the Bottom 2   No?  OK, then Lauren and Jacob…is that better?  I know a lot of you out there Love Scotty.  Will Jacob go home tonight???  Maybe.

Rambling Thoughts 04/27/11

Hi Everybody:

I’ve been taking notes on ‘random’ things that have crossed my eyes as I watched TV or read my ‘gossip’ mags.

First of all, before I start, is it just me or is John Slattery HOT doing those Lincoln commercials.  I love him in MAD MEN but he just oozes HOTNESS here. Again, just throwing it out there.

FYI:  Carole King songs on tonight’s AI for the Top 6 to perform.

Heard that Jeremy Renner (from The Hurt Locker) is set to take over The Bourne franchise since Matt Damon has moved on to other projects.

Jane Krakouski (of 30 ROCK) 42, has given birth to a baby boy named Bennett Robert Godley weighing in at 7 lbs. and 12 ozs.  His daddy is Jane’s fiancee, fashion designer. Robert Godley.

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian were married last weekend in Malibu.  WOW, didn’t take them long from their first meet on their Lifetime movie, divorcing their spouses, and now married.  Let’s hope it lasts….a while.

Looks like Sean Penn, 50 and Scarlett Johannson, 26 are not only head over heels in love, they also had a doozy of a fight the other day.  Seems Sean wants Scarlett to ‘clean up her act’ by quitting smoking, drinking and, while she’s at it, to take off a few lbs.  Now I can see Scarlet listening to the smoking and drinking part….but there’s nothing that ticks a woman off more than to be told she’s gotta lose a few pounds.  And…by the way….Mr. Penn…who are you to call the ‘kettle black’ as they say????

Chloe Sevigny (Big Love) and beau, Charlie Smith looks like a real keeper.  Seems his only claim to fame was a spot on The Hills with Spencer Pratts.  WOW, Chloe, go shopping for that Hope Chest now!

Thomas Jane (from HBO’s Hung) has been dumped by his much younger girlfriend.  He’s 42 and she’s 21….excuse me?  Do you think Patricia Arquette made a good move by giving this guy the ‘heave ho’?????  She, Renee Olstead, is the star of Secret Life of the American Teenager.  Move on Renee…he’s a bit too old for you.

And last but not least, Liv Tyler (Steve’s daughter) has hooked up with photographer, Theo Wenner.  I guess they’ve been going together for a year now and just decided to make it public.  She has a son, Milo, 6 from her former marriage.  And, bythe way, Theo is the son of Jann Wenner who is publisher of Rolling Stone magazine….

That’s all I got for now.  Sorry I didn’t do a review of DWTS.  Getting a little tired of it.  As long as Kirstie and Maks are still in it, I’m happy.  Although I think Mark (Pia’s BFF) and Chelsey are coming along nicely and I wouldn’t be surprised if they took the ‘sparkly mirror ball’!!!

American Idol – Results Show – Top 7 to 6 – 04/21/11

Hi Everyone:

So last night…what can I say…not a happy camper!

Let’s get started.

Here’s the Judges: JLo looking great in a short, sparkly, gray dress.  Ryan…usual suit and walking down that staircase.  I don’t think there’s enough hours in the day for Ryan he is so wicked busy.  I just read that he will make $55M this year….which surpasses his buddy, Simon Cowell.  (Also, I heard that The X Factor is holding auditions at Foxwoods Casino in Conn. this weeked.  So if they don’t pick you, you can liquor up and play those slots…..

Ryan tells us that 52M votes were cast last night..(as long as Stefano doesn’t go home, I’m OK).

Katey Perry and David Cook will perform.

Let’s bring out the Top 7 and send them over to the couches.

Lauren, Haley, Jacob and Stefano are going to perform, Hey Soul Sister (all I can think of is GLEE).  -  They’re OK but Kurt and his group do it much better.

Now we have Casey, James and Scotty are going to sing, Coldplay’s Vida La Vida – not too bad.  Their voices really blend at times…especially the end of the song.

All the contestants are on the couches and Ryan asks them a few questions.

Jacob – what did you think of the group calling you a “Diva”?  He said, “I am kinda divaish…”

Scotty – I hear someone made you something from Garner, NC (your hometown).

He said, “Yes, it’s a butterscotch cupcake.  They call it a butterscotty cupcake.  I miss it and thank everyone for voting for me.

Cassey – I hear that you received something from a fan.  – Casey says, “Yes I did.  And holds up a beautiful painting of himself and his dog.  It’s wonderful and I thank her so much.”

Ryan then says, “Let’s do some results”

Casey, Jacob please come forward.

Casey….you of the soft lips…..you are SAFE

Jacob – you are in the Bottom 3

Now it’s times for David Cook who will sing a single from his new CD, Loud Morning, “Last Goodbye” -  David looks good, ‘refreshed’ and sounds good too.  Like the song.  On May 1st he is launching his Race For Hope – AGC Squad – to help prevent brain cancer.

David tells Ryan that when his mom heard he was going to be on the show, she asked if she could ‘tag along’.  Reason is:  She LOVES Steven Tyler.  Sooo, David asks her to go over to Steven and she willingly goes to the Judges’ podium where Steven stands up and gives her a big hug.  Very sweet.  David was very funny in his reaction.

Ryan then shows us what the contestants do when they haave ‘downtime’.   They go to a LA Dodgers game, then they go bowling (some of those guys are awful bowlers), then they have massaages and manicures!

Let’s do some more results….Dim Those Lights:

It’s time for Katy Perry to sing ET – her big production number.  Love Katy and this song is awesome.  It’s a big hit.

Ryan says, “After 52M  votes were cast last night, the person going home tonight is:    STEFANO   (say it isn’t so…..how could they possibly send him home and keep Jacob…don’t like this at all).

(I did read this morniing that JLo is thinking of starting a Latin show very similiar to AI which means that she probably won’t be back next year which stinks cause she’s a very good Judge).

Next week the theme will be:   Songs of Carole King and Bruno Marz will be performiing….

So folks, think I’ll grab myself a cupcake and try to comfort sadness….Goodbye Stefano.  Poor James was devastated.  They must have been roomies.

AI – Top 7 perform 4-20-11

Goodaye Everyone:

Interesting stuff happened on AI last night….let’s get started.

Judges come out and JLo looks ‘hot’ in gray metallic….guys look the same although I didn’t check to see what watch Randy was wearing.  Ryan…staircase…suit

First we have 5 of the recent contestants who left the building, come back and perform.  I believe it was Paul, Thia, Pia, Naima and I’ll be darned if I can think of who else…could be the other Lauren.

Ryan introduced Mark Ballas from DWTS and who is rumored to be going out with Pia which isn’t a good thing for Stefano because the two of them are rumored to have been thisclose in the mansion!  Awkward….

While we are speaking of DWTS…I just wanted to say that I couldn’t believe the fans kept Kendra and let Petra go.  What is with that?  Then they interview Kendra and she says she is getting so good she may even get a ’10′ next week.  I noticed that Louis didn’t even look at the camera; if he had, he probably would have laughed.

Anyway, let’s talk about AI.  The Top 7 will perform songs from the 21 Century meaning any song from 2000 up (from the list they were given).

Tonight, before each one sings, we will hear from the other contestants, different quirks and things they do that drive the other 6 crazy.  Very funny but I won’t bore you with what they said…plus they all said so much it would be impossible to repeat it.

First up tonight will be:

1.  Scotty who will sing, “Swingin’ by Leann Rimes (a country song…naturally).  Ya know, I think it’s about time that Scotty tried something else.  I know the kid can sing country…YOU know the kid can sing country.  Stretch those vocals Scotty and sing a little R&B maybe.

 ST – Love it; you boot scooted.

JLo – Love your storytelling ways but you’ve got to pull yourself out of your comfort zone and show us what else you’ve got.

Randy – JLo is right.  You have to bring it and stop bring so ‘safe’.

Next up is:

2.  James – who will be singing ‘Uprising’ fromMuse (love Muse and, as we all know, the lead singer is Kate Hudson’s BFF and soon to be a daddy!).  James, as usual, is awesome.  Love Muse and he really works it.  What more can I say about this kid.

JLo – That theatrically is the best of the night…and you are only 2nd tonight.  I think that’s the highest you’ve ever sung.

Randy – Ya know, I talked to the lead singer of Muse when I found out you were going to sing Uprising and he made a bet with me on the last verse of that song and ya know what dude….you slayed it!

ST – How expensive to look so cheap!@  You sang it beautifully.

3.  Haley is next and she will be singing, Adele’s big song from her #1 album.  This is so perfect for her.  She definitely has found the type of song that is just right for her.  What a compliment to Adele.  Terrific and I love her red and white polka dot dress.

Randy – OK…what direction will you be going in after this contest….THIS ONE.  Well done.

ST – Great performance.

JLo – You brought it Haley to Adele.

4.  and now here comes Jacob who will be singing, “Dance With My Father” by Luther.  Jacob is very emotional with this song because his dad died when he was 12 and missing him tremendously.  Good job.  Oh, and the other guys said he is “Divish” and he is wearing a grey suit with a black shirt tonight…looking very nice.

ST – You are so good.  You remind me why I love music so much.

JLo – It’s hard to perform a song when it has so much meaning to you but then again, that’s what great performers can do.  You nailed it.

Randy – I agree that emotionally is was great but vocally it wasn’t so good.

5.  Now it’s Casey’s turn and he will be singing a Maroon 5 hit.  Casey is playing his guitar tonight and I notice that he has raised the tempo of this song for something different and it worked.  Great performance and I loved it at the end when he gave JLo a peck on the cheek.  How cool was that!

JLo – Casey’s not playing fair!  He’s got soft lips….loved it….the song that is.

Randy – Always a surprise.  Thought it might not go well and then boom….you were excellent.

ST – You are already so ……..(swearing) good.

Ryan, “The wheels have fallen off this program!”

6.  Here’s Stefano and he will be singing, “Closer” by Ne’O  (the group said he is such a flirt!).  Anyway this was a great song for him.  He danced around the stage  but he could have done more of that.  Love the song and thought he performed it very well.

Randy – Dude, you turned me around – You sang the verses nice and slow before you got into the rest of the song.

ST – I was hoping you’d dance and you did.

JLo – You got your swag coming on.  You owned that song.  Loved it.

7.  And last one to perform tonight is Lauren who will be singing, “Born To Fly” by ? – Another country girl singing another country song.  She and Scotty had better step it up or they will find themselves back home mighty quick.  Didn’t care for it…..

ST – You are so good naturally.

JLo – Come on Lauren….you’ve got to ‘bring it’ and you keep holding back.  That’s not going to help you win.

Randy – I agree.  You can sing Lauren.  You must start believing in that voice of yours.

OK, so there you have it.  Bottom 3…..Lauren, Scotty and Jacob…who’s going home?????  I’m guessing it’s going to be Lauren.

Tonight David Cook and Katy Perry will be on the Results Show.  It’ll be nice to see David.  He sings the ‘exit’ song this season from Simple Minds…Don’t You Forget About Me.

DWTS – Americana Week – 04/18/11

Hi Everyone:

As you can see, I’m not quite ‘with it’ today!  Last night didn’t do much for me so I’ll just do a quick review of the dancers.

1.  Ralph and Karina who will dance the Samba to “Sweet Home Alabana’ – it was good but not great..not as good as Cheryl and Drew Lachey years ago.

Len – 1/2 the time you’re good; 1/2 the time you’re bad.  Tonight you were not a contender.

Bruno – I agree with Len – where’s the Samba – and then Bruno stands up and does his thrusting hip moves.

C/A – I personally think they nailed it.

Judges – 8 – 7 – 7 = 22

2.  Next up is Chris and Cheryl who will dance the Viennese Waltz to America The Beautiful – Nice flow to the song.  He seems to be getting better each week.

Bruno – Big, strong, elogent – wonderful

C/A – I feel like I’ve underestimated you.

Len – Cheryl, we got a chance to see those Rocky Mountains! tonight. Chris, thought you were flat footed.

judges – 9–8–9 = 26

3. Petra and Dimitry will dance a Quickstep to “Viva Las Vegas” (ELVIS!)  First of all, the singer is just plain terrible.  She is really trying very hard and I love her for it but I’ve seen better.

C/A – A bit of a step back for you tonight.

Len – Very fast dance – speed and music have to be just right – too bad.

Bruno – I agree – you were like the Golden Goddess of speed however.

Judges – 7-7-8 = 22

4.  Romeo and Chelsea are doing a Foxtrot to New York, New York.  =  Love this song.  He’s doing OK but nothing great.

Len – U have control and flair, authentic

Bruno – Swagger – so cheeky

C/A – Great dance from you.

Judges – 9-8-9 = 26

5.  Hines and Kym will dance the Rumba to “Proud to be an American” – Hot outfit on Kym.  Not as good as last week.

Bruno – You made the ladies swoon

C/A – Best hip action of the group – romantic

Len – A naturalness about it.  Best dance from you so far.

judges – 9-9-9 = 27

6.  Kirstie and Maks will dance a Foxtrot to “American Woman” – Kirstie looks good…Maks looks better. OMG, he took off his shirt and has a ‘fake’ tattoo of the American Flag on his chest.  I think I’m gonna faint!  I thought they did a pretty darn good job.  Did you see him catch her when she jumped into his arms!!!! WOW

Ohhhh, and did you see John Travolta as the “Dance Doctor” to help coach her.  Sooooo funny.

C/A – Bold, ambitious, magical

Len – Lots of basic steps but it wasn’t my cup of tea

Bruno – American Woman and a Russian Gigolo…how could you lose.

Judges – 8-7-8 = 23

7.  Kendra and Louis have the privilege of dancing the 1,000 dance of DWTS and confetti and streamers go off all over the place!  – After it’s cleaned up they dance a Foxtrot to Yankee Doodle Dandy – OK, we’ve given Kendra the wave thru for the past few weeks but I feel it is her time to exit the building.  Sorry Louis. You’ve done all you can for her and it just wasn’t enough….

Len – Better than last week

Bruno – Sweet as apple pie

C/A – Most confident that I’ve seen you.

Judges – 8-7-7 = 22

8. Mark and Chelsey to dance us off tonight and show how it’s done….they will be dancing a Samba ‘Party In The USA” by Miley Cyrus – Mark’s getting as hot as Maks@  They are dancing the Samba and are very cool.  I think it is the best dance of the night.

American Idol – Results Show – 04-15-11

Morning Everyone:

Before I start my review, I have two things I’d like to say.

1.   HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jonathan  (that’s my son!)

2.  ONE LIFE TO LIVE is being cancelled come January.  Quite a shock.  I heard ALL MY CHILDREN was on the chopping block but never guessed that OLTL would be hit too.  That only leaves GENERAL HOSPITAL on the Channel 5 lineup.  I hope they don’t cencel that show…cause that’s my soap!

Anyway, sad news for soap fans.  And sad news for one of the Top 8 last night because one went home.

The 3 Judges are introduced and JLo looks beautiful in gold and has her hair done in a long braid.  Hot!

Ryan tells us that 53M votes came in last night.  Very impressive.

He asks the Idols to come out on the stage and take the couch.  Tonight we are going to do pairs and group songs.  First up is Scotty and Lauren who will sing a Lady Antebellum song.  They are pretty good together but I’ don’t really care for the song.

Next we see the Idols filming a Ford video commercial.

Next it is Casey and Haley who will sing a Jazzy tune called, “Moanin’”.  Now this is what Haley should be singing.  She is so good with Casey.  I can’t believe they are both so young.  Very entertaining and talented.

So now after that we have…..you guessed it:

Rob Reiner sits with the Idols and tells them what a big fan he is of the show.  He has watched since the first season and feels this season has more talen than any other one.  Nice to hear.  Also, he talks to them a little about the movies and how significant the songs are to them.  Luv Rob….meathead!

Next we  have Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson to sing their platinum single, “Don’t You Want To Stay”.   Kelly looks lovely.  Like her hair and makeup…it is very soft.  And her black dress is nice, if not a little tight.  My only complaint is why these girls where such high heels….someone is gonna go flyin’ one of these days.  Oh, by the way, the song is very good and they sound terrific together…wish I could have seen more of Jason!

Now we see a preview of the movie, COWBOYS AND ALIENS that will be out this Summer…WOW! 

Next we see a commercial for SYTYCD which will also be back this summer and guess who is also returning…MARY MURPHY!  The screamer will be back!!!!

Ryan now introduces us to James – Jacob – Stefano and Paul who will sing a few Simon and Garfunkel songs from the movie, The Graduate.  They don’t sound quite as good as laat time.  Maybe it’s not the type of songs they would normally sing together….I dunno. 

Now he asks them to stay at Center Stage:

Ryan introduces Rihanna who sings her new big hit single…whatever!  Do not like the red hair…can you believe another huge production number this week.  She does have a great voice though.

Ryan introduces Chaka Khan and Anita Baker from the audience.

OK, here we go…..after 53M votes were cast last night….we can now tell you that Haley, you are Safe (good news).

This leaves Stefano and Paul and the person going home tonight is:    PAUL 

Well it’s sad to see anyone go home but he’ll be on the Tour and we did NOT want to see Stefano leave the building.

JLo asks Paul to sing, Maggie May and it’s his best song.  He is taking it in stride.  Nice guy.  Oh well, those cougars are going to have to vote for someone else come next week.

American Idol – Top 8 – 04/13/11

Gidaye Everyone:

I have to say, before I get started, that I was disappointed in the movie song choices for most of the group tonight.  They had so many to choose from and Jimmy wasn’t much of a help (even though he thinks he is)  Will I Am is funny and does have a point now and then.

The Judges are introduced and Ryan comes down the staircase (I thought that was saved for Results night?)  He tell us that Jennifer has been voted the most ‘beautiful’ person in the world for PEOPLE magazine and then they proceed to play the song, “The most beautiful girl in the world” and put a spotlight on her.  Ryan says how lucky Mark Anthony is and they show him and he smiles…he’s there every week.  Go make a new CD Mark!

First the Top 8 come out on the stage.  Then Ryan tells us that this is ‘movie song’ week and first up will be:

1.  Paul who looks wild in a suit that is indescribable.  He sits with Jimmy and Will and tells them he will be singing, “Take Those Old Records Off The Shelf” by Bob Segar from the movie, “Risky Business’. (this is the song that blasts when Tommy comes sliding across the stage in his undies and long dress shirt…very hot!)

Paul does a good job.  He’s very much a professional and covers the stage not missing a beat.  Good song choice for him.  He’ll go thru to next week.  By the way, he’s got a ‘very hot’ sax player!

ST – Sooo, who’s the sax player?  I liked it.  and…I wanna borrow that suit next time I tour.

JLo – U go a little bit further each week.  Last week, you killed it.  This week…you killed it!

Randy – This will be the first song from Paul’s concert tour!  That suit reminds me of Porter Waggoner (OMG, now your going way back Randy….that’s when Dolly Parton got her start!).

2.  Next it’s Lauren’s turn and she wants to sing a Miley Cyrus song.  I think it’s called, “Always Gonna Be Another Mountain” or something like that.  Pretty dress and her voice sounds good.  Just didn’t care for it.  Sorry Lauren….and I like you.

After she finished, the audience gave her a Standing O…please, gimme a break…sit down people!

JLo – Loved having you sing that.  You had a tear in your voice.

Randy – A Nashville girl is roaring back!!

ST – I thought you were the ‘first Idol”.  You moved me beyond tears.

3.  Stefano goest to see Jimmy and Will.  He tells them he wants to sing a song from the Eddie Murphy movie, “Boomerang” called “End of the Road’ by Boyz 2 Men.  They agree and tell him to get out there and sell it.  =  Love Stefano and, to me, he is getting better each week.  He sounds great and keeps those eyes open.  Great performance.

Randy – Yooo – You just slayed that song.  The guy from Boyz should be texting me any minute to say you were Brilliant!…best to date.

ST – You proved how to milk a song.

JLo – It’s about being a great performer.  You did it tonight.

4.  Now it’s Scotty’s turn and he tells Jimmy and Will that he is going to sing, “I Crossed My Heart” by George Strait (now I’m not much into country but there are a few performers that I love…George being one of them).  Scotty sounds great when he sings country….he can go directly to the Grand Ole’ Opry cause that’s how good he is getting.  Great job young man.

ST – America has fallen in love with you.

JLo – You are so damn good.  WOW…loved it.

Randy – I luve the George Strait song.  People…look at him…a STAR is born on this stage tonight.  I’m a huge fan.

5.  Well now it’s Casey’s turn and he tells Jimmy and Will that he wants to sing, Nature Boy by Nat King Cole.  They both tell him it will be boring and he should do, “In The Air” by Phil Collins.    Casey thinks about it and then says that he is sticking with Nature Boy cause he loves that song and has sung it for a long time. – Well good for you Casey cause you took that big base of yours along with a piano player and a single drum.  Casey does an awesome job on this song.  This has got to be his best week yet.   LOVED IT.

By the way, I love his haircut.  He looks good. – When he finishes EVERYONE gives him a Standing Ovation.

JLo – As you went on, you won me over.  You can be a Norah Jones star.  You are SPEDIAL.

Randy – We have tue artists.  Never had somes like you on this show.  You are a true jazz artist.  Brilliant.

ST – You are an artist in the truest sense of the word.  You do what is in your heart.  You could have a career like Sting has.

6.  It’s Haley’s turn now and she is singing, “Call Me’ by Blondie in the movie, “American Gigolo’  (that made a star out of Richard Gere!) – I like her dress.  She does a good job with this movie.   She looks comfortable jumping around the stage.  I’m on the fence with this one.

Randy – The beginning was a little kareoke.  Didn’t quite do it for me.

ST – I agree but when you sing with the chorus…you are so good.

JLo – I like the ‘wailing’  at the end.  OMG, there are only 2 girls left.  I don’t want either of you to go home.

7.  Jacob is next and he will be singing, “Bridge Over Troubled Waters”  from the “Pursuit of Happyness” (with Will Smith and his son).  I have to tell you that I’m really not thrilled with Jacob tonight.  He seems to be screaming a lot tonight.  Just my opinion….but I think the Bottom 3 is in his future.  By the way, that pink suit has to go!

ST – how much of you is in this song?  You are an angel.  Those last 3 notes were incredible.

JLo – You are such a gifted vocalist…..those last 3 notes are incredible!

Randy – I agree.  You took your time with that song.  Amazing.

And now for the last singer of the night,

8.  James who is insistant on singing, “Heavy Metal” by Sammy Hagar from the movie, “Heavy Metal” -  Jimmy and Will are afraid he is going to ‘crash’.  = Well guess what people….I am NOT a heavy metal fan but James can do no wrong as far as I’m concerned.  LOVE HIM…..

JLo – You were awesome….really, real….

Randy – You could be at an Ozzie Fest and play with Zack (who played the guitar for the song).

ST – You had to get it out of your system….GREAT, as usual.

So another week of competition has come to an end.  There were good (Casey/James) and not so good (Jacob/Haley).  Who will go home tonight????  I’m not certain.

I do know that Kelly Clarkson and Rhyanna will be singing tonight.

So when the dust has cleared, and someone has gone home,  I will do my review and talk to you tomorrow.

DWTS Results Show – 04/12/11

Hi Everyone:

OK…want to tell you all that I went to bed at 9 last night and DVR’s DWTS.  I’m home today so I just watched (fast forwarded thru quite a bit) and now have the results on who went home.

Tonight we have Jennifer Hudson (looking gorgeous), David Garrett (looking hot) and the 46 piece orchestra.

Brtook Burke also looks beautiful in purple.

We start off with David playing “Walk This Way”….told ya he could play Rock and Roll.  Very talented guy.

The DWTS troupe dance along with him…

Let’s get some results:

Here’s theTop 3 Couples:

Mark and Chelsea – 25

Ralph and Anna – 25Hines and Kym – 25

Two are safe and one is in jeopardy

Hines and Kym – SAFE

which means that Mark and Chelsea who scored the highest the night befoe is In Jeopardy.

To add insult to injury, Len said the Judges chose them to dance again.  Mark is so unique and up to the minute on his choreography….maybe the fans just don’t get it.

Here’s Jennifer in a VERY short purple dress and VERY high heels to sing her new single, Don’t Look Back with Louis and Karina dancing along.

Now, it’s no secret that Jennifer has taken off about 100 lbs. but I don’t think she has to go quite that far with her outfit…..she just doesn’t need to.  She’s beautiful all by herself.  Ohh, good song.
