American Idol – Top 4 Perform – 05/11/11

Goodaye Everyone:

This will probably be a short review as my sciatic nerve pain is driving me crazy.  The leg is pounding!

OK, that being said….the Judges and Ryan hit the stage. Jennifer looks beautiful, as usual, in a one shoulder dark green dress.

Tonight the Top 4 will sing 2 songs; the first will be an inspiring song and the second will be written by Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller (who wrote a lot of Elvis’s songs).  AND…..the mentor this week is Lady GaGa.  Can’t wait to hear what she says.

James is the first to perform and he will be singing, “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey.  One of my fave songs with the great Steve Perry.  James is terrific as usual.  Randy must be loving this because he played with Journey years ago.  Great Job…

ST – Nice goin’

JLo – Your upper register is unreal.  Great job.

Randy – One of the greatest rock bands ever!  Steve Perry made it famous.  You tackled the highest degree of difficulty and you did it!

Haley will sing next and she has chosen a Michael Jackson song, “What About Us” , the Earth song.  I think MJ sang this before he died.  It’s a beautiful song and I think Haley did a great job with it….she looks beautiful tonight too.

JLo – I could ‘feel’ it inspired you.  You’re almost there…you just have to be very careful in how you choose your songs  from now on.

Randy – I’m confused by that song because it’s not what I would have chosen for you.  It didn’t suit you and it sounded like you were singing the same note.  Didn’t like it.  (then Haley told Randy how she felt…got a little heated on stage!)

ST – They are both wrong – great song – you nailed it.

Now it’s Scotty’s turn and he has chosen to sing, “Where Were You When The World Stopped Turnin’” by Alan Jackson.  -  This was a very inspiring song, soulful.  Sounded great.

Randy – Amazing – inspirational – great song choice

ST – beautiful – ditto Randy

JLo – I’m in love with you!  I can tell you know who you are.  I’m glad we’re here to witness it.

Lauren will sing next and she has chosen, “I Do It Anyway” by Martina McBride.  Well Lauren has decided that Country is her thing and she seems very comfortable in this genre.  Not crazy about the dress though.  Hair is pretty.  She’s certainly giving it her ‘all’.

ST – You did it again.  Your voice is perfect.  You’re like the “Blue Plate Special!”

JLo – We’re so proud of you because you listened to us.  Very beautiful.

Randy – America is back in it to win it.  Amazing

OK, the first round is finished…JLo who do you think won it?   JAMES

Randy – Scotty, James and Lauren – a tie

Next round, we will start with Haley who will sing, “I Who Have Nothing”  Lady GaGa says for her to be dramatic….hot dress.  Much better than the first song.  She’s ‘feeling’ it.  Good for her.

What do you know..she got a ‘standing ovation’.

JLo – Look what you’re capable of.  Amazing

Randy – This was your ‘moment’.  Excellent

ST – Classic moment

Scotty is next and he will sing, Young Blood’ – Lady GaGa really goes off on Scotty.  I won’t repeat what she said to him but I thought it was very inapprorpriate considering there are a lot of young people watching this show.  Scotty was good, he played to to the audience.  Didn’t care for the facial expressions though.

Randy – Are you having a good time?  Fine song.  We saw both sides of Scotty tonight.

ST – Made GaGa go YaYa.  Love the humor in it.

JLo – Hit your stride.  I’d like to see you show me something different next week.

Lauren is singing, “Trouble” by Elvis – Well it’s OK but I don’t think it’s going to get her in the Top 3.

ST – Evil?  No Way.  Love You.

JLo – Really good.

Randy – You’re a rocker with attitude.  You’re workin it.  Good Job

James finishes the night with, “Love Potion #9″  GaGa wants him to move his hips and proceeds to move them for him.  When he rehearses the song she loves it. – Another hit for James – So fine.  (love the guitarist too)

JLo – That showed me you could sing anything.  Terrific.

Randy – the band is great too.  You’re peaking at just the right moment.

ST – incredible p beautiful thing.

OK, so now we have to choose who will go home and which 3 will ‘go home’!  I think it is Lauren’s turn but people will probably choose Haley tonight.
