American Idol – Top 3 Finalists – 05/18/11

Well I left my notes at home today (which kinda shows you how much I care any more).
The Judges were introduced and JLo looked gorgeous…as usual.
The 3 finalists will sing 3 songs tonight (same as every other season). 1. they will choose themselves; 2. Jimmy Lovine will choose; and 3. The Judges will choose (difference this year is all 3 Judges pick for each finalist).
OK, here’s where it gets fuzzy….I know that Beyonce mentored the kids. And I say ‘kids’ because I think all 3 are 16 or 17!
Beyonce looks beautiful and likes all 3 (naturally). Scotty tells her what he will be singing and she says he’s amazing and he proceeds to sing….wait for it…..a COUNTRY song! Shock, shock. Now we know the kid is gonna have quite a career with the Grand Ole Opry but I am realllly tired of these contry songs. Naturally he does a good job cause that’s ALL he does. End of story.
ST, JLo and Randy – all love it, they love him, and that’s how it goes.
Lauren is up next and she is also going to sing a ‘country’ song…she looks beautiful by the way. The only sound critique of the night is from Beyonce who says, “Lauren, I know how nervous you get when you get up on that stage and I want you to think about what I do and that is….I give myself another personality…a “diva” kinda person and that way, it’s not me up on the stage but someone else.” Anyway, she did that and was pretty good.
ST, JLo, Randy – all loved her…especially Steve.
Next up ws Haley and she sang a Led Zeppelin song I believe. I think this is the song where she walked down a huge flight of stairs in wicked high heels! Her dad plays guitar in a band and he accompanied her which I thought was cool. She was terrific and got 70% of the way thru it when she tripped on the front stairs but she kept right on going.
1st round for me….goes to Haley Randy and JLo thought so too. Steve is with Lauren
2nd Round were songs that Jimmy Lovine choose for the finalists.
I didn’t care for Lauren’s at all. Scotty and Haley’s were OK.
2nd Round should have still gone to Haley but the Judges chose Scotty
3rd Round were songs the Judges chose. Scotty’s was a Kenny Rogers’ tune; Haley’s was an Alanis Morrissette song and I forget what Lauren’s was. Didn’t matter. The Judges liked Lauren.
In the end…each round they chose someone else which means it’s all tied up.
We’ll have to wait until tonight to see who the two finalists will be. My choice….Haley and then it doesn’t matter to me if it’s Scotty or Lauren. I love Haley. She has that Stevie Nicks’ kinda voice and looks to me like she’s ready for stardom….we’ll see.
