American Idol Top 2 Finalists of Season 10 – Part One – 05/24/11

Hi Everyone

Well it’s almost over….tonight and last night and another Season will be gone.  And, might I say before I forget, what an enjoyable Season it has been.  LOVE Jennifer and Steven.  They are terrific Judges who do not criticize but just give you pointers on how you can be better.  I hope they will be back next year.

JLo naturally looks beautiful in a dark green, short, metallic dress.  Her hair is beautiful too.  Randy looks ‘hot’ tonight in that suit.  And even Steven has ‘jazzed’ it up for the Finals.  AND….Ryan is wearing a ‘bowtie’!  How cool is that?

We are the Nokia Theater tonight with 7K fans in the audience.

It’s been quite a year.  We are now down to two…both country….both teenagers and the youngest Finalists we have ever had.

Ryan tells us that Lauren had a problem with her throat today.  He calls the doctor out who says that she popped a vocal chord in rehearsal and it was ‘iffy’ for a while on whether she would perform tonight but they gave her meds to help her and the doctor said she should be fine to perform.  I can understand how it can happen.  These kids have been performing since last January.  It seems every year, someone has a problem with their voice.

They will be singing 3 songs tonight.  #1 will be their fave from the season; #2 will be a song chosen by their fave singer and #3 will be a song that Jimmy has chosen that will be their first CD single.

So let’s get started.  They had a coin flip and Scotty won.  He was going to go second but Lauren wanted to so being the gentleman that he is…he will go first.

Scotty has chosen GONE as his favorite song to sing again.  It’s catchy and shows his light hearted side and gets the audience up and clapping.  Good Job.

Lauren is singing, FLAT ON THE FLOOR and is doing a very good job even though you can see it’s a little bit of a struggle for her.  Also….Good Job.  She looks very pretty.

Round Two – George Strait (love him) is Scotty’s favorite singer and he has chosen, “CHECK YES OR NO” to for Scotty to sing.  Like this song.  It’s catchy and he performs it very well.

Carrie Underwood will choose for Lauren and she has chosen, MAYBE IT WAS MEMPHIS – never heard of this song before but it’s a good song for her.  Only problem I have is the dress she is wearing…looks like a ‘dance hall’ dress of older days!

(while watching the show…I am bouncing back and forth to the Weather Channel because there are tornadoes in both Oklahoma and North Carolina and those states just happen to be wear my sons and their families are living.  Do you think I’m a little on the nervous side tonight???)

After Rounds 1 and 2….I say it’s a TIE.

Randy-can’t tell you the last time I’ve been so excited for a final.  Both are great. I say it’s a slight edge for Scotty for Round 1 and Lauren for Round 2.

JLo -  What an explosive start.  Both of you are terrific and I agree with Randy.

ST – No doubt….Lauren gets my vote for both Round 1 and 2.

OK, now we have Tylo Cruz(?) come on the stage with a marching band and sings a very catchy tune.  Unfortunately it looks to me like he forgot some of the words…happens.

Now it’s Round 3 and I have to tell you I’m a little apprehensive of what Jimmy is going to come up with.  Hope it’s good.

He has chosen WILL I LOVE YOU THIS BIG (original song which will be his 1st single) – I can’t believe it.  I find myself really liking this song and Scotty is doing a terrific job.  This is a good night for Scotty.

Randy – range was great.  Loved the song.  You’ve grown so much since you started here back in January.

JLo – You are amazing.  Love the way you deliver these songs like a storybook.

ST – You’ve come a long way.  You take chances and you nailed it.

Well now we’re down to Lauren’s song.  Jimmy has chosen LIKE MY MOTHER DOES.  Lauren is anxious to sing this song for her mom.  WOW, love this song and she is so sincere while singing it.  She gets all tearyeyed and goes down to hug her mum who is also crying.  What a moment.  Glad she was able to sing tonight.  Love her dress too.

Randy – WOW – Jimmy you chose another amazing song.  Loved it.

JLo – This is just too tight to call.  You left me alll emotional.

ST- Since the first day I set eyes on you I said, “Here’s your American Idol” and I’ve believed in you all season and still think YOU are the winner of tonight.

Randy and JLo both agree that Lauren won them over.  This is a good thing because we all know that Scotty has a big career in country music waiting for him.  He doesn’t need the confetti, etc.

David Cook sings us out with his, “DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME” great song and he does an awesome job.

So tonight is the BIG FINALE – Scotty and Lauren should just sit back and drink it all in.  The rest of the finalists will all sing and celbrities will be there and maybe Steve will sing with James….that would be wicked cool.
